This cute little shop hasn't changed since the last time I set foot in there. The older lady working in the evening was a doll. She was friendly and patiently answered all of my questions. The frosting wasn't overly sweet, but our cake slices were on the dry side. I wish at about $9 a slice they were dated, so as a consumer, I knew when it was baked. The cake bomb is the way to go if you want dry cake or wash it down with a glass of milk. *They do a stamp card here, so ask for yours when you check out.* With their prices creeping up, I'll have to rethink my next visit to buy a dry slice of cake.

I think that may be because ordering is done at the kiosk off to the side, but it still would have been nice to get a quick hello or even a few recommendations, especially since the menu changes. We ended up ordering a mini 6-pack box, which came out to about $15. We got milk chocolate chip, pink sugar, brownie batter, cookies and cream, mom's recipe, and one of the weekly specials, cookies and cream cheesecake. Overall, the cookies were pretty good. The cookies and cream and pink sugar were definitely the best of the bunch. The others were okay, but nothing that really stood out. The cheesecake cookie was a little weird to me and not something I would order again. Crumbl is decent to good, but at the price point, it is hard to justify it as anything more than an occasional treat. You can find cookies that are just as good from local bakeries, often at a better price. Still, it was a fun stop with friends and a nice way to end my birthday night.

Every piece is handcrafted by their small local team, and you can feel the pride they take in their work. We also got to taste their seasonal Key Lime Pie Bonbon, which was incredible. On top of the tour, Dorinda's donated several huge bags of pretzels for our clients and staff to enjoy. Dorinda's has also participated in our But First, Dessert Gala every year from 2022 through 2025 and is a three-time winner of our Best Dessert Award, which says a lot because the competition is always strong. I hadn't yet had a chance to try their chocolate, and this was an amazing opportunity to not only try a wide variety (mint meltaway, peanut butter cup, espresso bean, chocolate pretzel), but to also make some by hand! Visitors were allowed back into the kitchen, where we washed hands and donned gloves, and were then given a tutorial in how to dip and decorate dark chocolate salted caramels. Mine were not too bad (I'll keep my day job), but they absolutely tasted delicious. All of the chocolates had a very fresh and distinctly non-mass-produced taste. Dorinda's clearly offers high-quality candies, while also coming up with some amazing flavors like the rice crispies and the strawberry balsamic. (I got to taste the actual olive oil used for this, and I will have to pick some up next time I'm in Truckee). The biggest surprise was their cherry cordial. Cherries are my top 2 favorite chocolates, and these are absolutely the best I've had (better than See's, Godiva, etc.). Perfect blend of dark chocolate, tart maraschino cherry, liquid center, and the bit of fondant icing...and noticeably freshly made. Thank you Dorinda's for the opportunity to discover your chocolates and to get a glimpse into the magic behind these delicious candies. TIP: You can also pre-order and pick up your Frost Giant Creamery (small batch, locally sourced, made from scratch) ice cream here. And not only bundt cakes, but rum bundt cakes! (You can order them without the run though). I got to chose the flavors. Because it was almost St.Patrick's Day, I chose the Guinness Chocolate (Stout) and Strawberry Shortcake. Definitely winning flavors! These cakes have a smooth texture.
