We stumbled across Batch on New Years Day and are delighted we did. The whiskey list is truly impressive and reasonably priced, especially the flights. And, the Old Fashioneds are excellent. Ronnie, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions. The place is small, but we did not feel cramped. We did not eat, but definitely will be back to try. Go! read more

It is so good to know that Batch is right down the street with their doughnuts and sandwiches, not to mention drinks as well! I ordered a glazed doughnut grilled cheese with prosciutto and raspberry jam, it was very good. I guess I expected the doughnut to be softer, it was a little hard but still deliciously melty. I'll be back for a doughnut soon! read more

Batch is probably one of my favorite bars in town! They have very large whiskey selection and the bar tenders are pretty knowledgeable and can usually direct you towards what you might like. They're cocktails also seems pretty good, however I usually just get a nice dram of whiskey. In addition to the drinks they also make donuts every day! They always have some original and interesting flavors as well as their stand by the "Creme Brule Donut". The donuts are great! But they only make so many, so they often run out by the time I make it in later a night. Over all, Batch is a great place to grab a drink and explore the wonders of whiskey. read more

Amazing selection of bourbon, whiskey and scotch from all over. However, the bartenders are not very engaging or friendly, in fact they are rude and completely unhelpful. I was not told that one entire rack on the wall was not on the menu, and I was not directed to anything specific, special or like I described I was looking for. I asked about their flights and was never told that there were two lists (only one part of the menu was pointed out to me stating "this is what we have for bourbon flights"). I tried to get further info on some of their selection and one of the ladies (heavier with purple hair, I think her name is Nicole) actually laughed out loud at me but didn't respond when I said that Buffalo Trace was only ok and that I was looking for something different. I finally settled on the "Local First" flight and was underwhelmed but not dissatisfied. A bit later I ordered a custom flight consisting of Four Roses Small Batch (loved!), Jefferson Very Small Batch, Old Fitzgerald 13yr, and Weller. The guy who brought me my food had returned after I ordered the custom flight to ask me how things were and was only then told that I should have tried Four Roses Single Barrel which was distilled just for them (I was never told about it or I would've tried it!!!). Thankfully it was happy hour and most things were 20% off! I did order the Mollie grilled cheese and a cup of tomato soup that were both delicious. My takeaway: only come here if you know exactly what you are looking for because the staff is not helpful AT ALL! Oh and I went to the Hub afterwards and the staff were amazingly friendly, something this place knows nothing about! read more

I absolutely loved this little bar! I went on a whim with a friend it was amazing. It's a smaller venue so it's not for huge groups. But they had a DJ and the staff was attentive and super nice! It was a Tuesday so I had to have tacos and it was the best decision I could've made! The chef is amazing. Their doughnuts looked sinful and wish I had room to try one. But it definitely won't be my last time enjoying the great food, people, and atmosphere at this place! read more

Stepped in for just donuts. The place is really uniquely designed and artsy. I liked the vibe. My friend and i tried the keylime and smores. For 3 to 4 dollar donuts... i didn't think it was worth it. Neither of the donuts were that nice soft texture. It must have been sitting out for a little while. The keylime cream was too sweet for me and overwhelming. The smores was interesting with chocolate and marshmallows on top. I thought that one was better but again... it just want all that special. They looked beautifully made but they tasted just okay. Ive had better donuts. Their menu however looks very interesting with cereal and grilled cheese sandwiches... maybe others can vouch for those selections with better reviews. read more

Batch Cafe & Bar - Smores and keylime donut. Great vibe and presentation but mediocre donuts - Donuts Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

The idea is odd to be sure but personally having a donut before downing a bunch of liquor works blemish better than vice versa. I love the atmosphere of the bar itself in that it is not much wider than two closets combined setting a more intimate stage as well as requiring you sit with strangers which leads to an open dialogue. We ordered and split the Stud which was quite nice although I'd suggest crispier bacon so one can appreciate it more. Crisp tier would allow it to be distinguished more between the creme, donut, and frosting. The Bavarian creme is scrumptious and although as others said the donut is as fluffy as most, more dense, it is a delight. As for the whiskey I'm not a connesuir so we went through the bartender which isn't always the best idea. For two drink my total was over $20 however the whiskey was subtly sweet and smooth and the whiskey sour was nice as well. The only detractor was the volume of the music. Because it is so small it's not like people are going to bust out in dance so blasting the music is unnecessary especially since as it increased so did the people's. The DJ was fun and so were the staff! We will be back read more

It's a little hole in the wall, but we came for the sandwiches. Specifically, we got a couple grilled cheese and wow, they were delicious! Although the bar seemingly only had one lady doing everything (cleaning, taking orders, cashiering, cooking, etc), we didn't wait long on a Friday for lunch. I got one with cheese, chicken, bacon, ranch, and ciabatta bread, all grill-pressed to perfection with a side of bbq chips. My wife got one with mozzarella, provolone, red peppers, basil oil, a fried egg, and ciabatta bread, also grill-pressed. They turned out so cheesy, simply perfect for those craving some good grilled-cheese. We'll definitely go again! read more

Stopped in at Batch on Saturday Afternoon 02/15/2020 about 4:30pm and got a seat at the bar with my husband. We were given menu's then promptly ignored as the bartender walked by us at least 5 times and never even met out eyes again. Spoke the couple next to us, cleaned the bar from other patrons leaving had new people sit down and even came right in front of us for a bottle and continued to ignore us. We walked out after 10 minutes of this. read more

I was really excited to try this place and I'm glad I finally did. I had the homer donut and while it was tasty, I did find the donut a little too oily. I've seen others comment on the dense cakeiness of them but that wasn't the problem here. I just don't want to taste the oil from the deep fryer in the flavor of it. I do like that they freshly glaze/top the donut of your choice instead of just serving you one from the case. They do also serve other food like grilled cheeses and bruschetta for those who don't have a sweet tooth. Overall, the best part was definitely the whiskey. There is an extensive list with a decent range in price and you can upgrade your pour to a cocktail for a small charge. The service was great and I do appreciate that. I sure hope the donuts improve and if so, I'll definitely be coming here more often. read more

My wife and I walked over after eating lunch next door at ten55. We've heard nothing but good things about the donuts here. Well, we were not impressed by any means. I had " the stud" filled with bourbon caramel. I could of had a way better donut from QT for less than half the price. Now, this is just my review on the donut. They are well known for their top notch whiskey ( i dont drink anymore) i didnt try any. But i stand by my review. Now that's just me, this doesn't mean that if you like it you have no taste lol. Just my opinion and my taste. Please try it out though. You may be a huge fan! read more

Stumbled upon this unique bar & cafe while in Tucson when my sales rep & I were looking for a place to sit, grab coffee and discuss business. When we entered, there was a girl working there who was not the friendliest person, but we gave the place a chance as we couldn't help but notice the pretty cool hipster interior and the most unique "bottle" chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. We both ordered regular coffees that were lukewarm and bitter but powered through it. I then saw pretty pink iced doughnuts at the counter which I ordered but when bitting into it, it was dry, hard and tasted old. Perhaps this place is better during lunch time when having a hot sandwich that's made to order or coming for after work drinks? In the meantime, they'll need to up their game when it comes to their cafe and service. read more

The whiskey and bourbon selection is amazing. However, the layout is cramped. I can't imagine trying to eat there. One of the bartenders was helpful and had good recommendations. The other bartender not so much. However, I am inclined to return for a second visit with a smaller party. I would recommend checking it out. read more

Stopped in for some drinks on a Friday night and was happy to see their great whiskey collection. I ordered the Japanese flight (not listed on-line, see Cristian R.'s picture in his review) and was happy to try new whiskeys. Re: the flight tastes, I'm glad that Japanese whiskey is improving from the last time I tried some, about 10 years ago... but it still has a long way to go. The flight was: Akashi, Iwai, Sensei and Suntory Toki... almost listed in order of their price. The Sensei was decent. I tried to like the Toki, but nope, it wasn't very good. The waitress pointed at another Suntory that she said was better, but I didn't try it. My friend had an Oban, an excellent Scottish single-malt. Looking down the list of flights, right now they've got $20 flights of mid-range offerings, and a $60 flight of top-notch offerings... there's lots of room in between to add mid-priced flights where they introduce customers to a better level of whiskey... which would lead to more second drink orders. I tried a Churro donut; it's an interesting combination idea, but honestly the donut wasn't very good. Didn't try their food this time, but I probably will on another visit. read more

Stopped by for a quick drink and a doughnut. Definitely a place I would be a regular at. Whiskey and Doughnuts, make mine a double!! Wifey got the creme brûlée doughnut with the mix berry filling, and I got the Stud. Both were delicious, and enjoyed in a cool somewhat intimate setting. read more

Great little spot for happy hour and lunch. Happy hour includes $1.50 off draft beers from 4-6 and they have a great selection (on taphunter). The indoor seating is small, but well curated, and there is a parklet with outdoor seating too. I have tried most of the donuts (key lime pie and bourbon filled are my favorites). read more

Great whiskey list, delicious looking food (haven't tried any) but service was slow when I stopped in. We ordered a shot of Oban 14 and Suntory Habiki for an afterwork drink. Bartender was friendly & helped us with out selection, but we didn't see him much after we were served. It was during the #Red4Ed teacher strike which might have lead to an unexpectedly large crowd for a Tue. Overall this place has a sweet vibe, good drinks & tasty looking food. We'll be back for sure! read more

Great bar as far as atmosphere. Unfortunately, I walked in last time and got a nod from some guy on the street whom I later learned was the bartender. Never said "be right with you" or even "hello." Instead, he stood on the street and finished his smoke taking his time about it while I stood inside waiting to order. Fortunately there are plenty of other bars on Congress with professional and courteous bartenders, so I left. I may go back, but not if he's there. You'd think having endured a pandemic they'd be doing everything they could to welcome customers back. Not the case at all. read more

I must say i wasn't much of a fan of the place. Something about it didn't called my attention but I finally made it inside and i must say my opinion changed completely. The place is small but doesn't feel crowded, i believe this is due to the high ceilings and simple decorations. beautiful liquor bottle chandeliers and simple wood shelves on the bar. The menu is very unique and interesting, and the drinks were well balanced. I made a special request on my drink and the bartender was really nice about it. I will definitely be back to try a boozy cereal and know what that is all about read more

If you're just interested in tasting whiskey and scotch, Batch has so many to choose from. I, however, don't have a taste for straight paint remover (I kid!), and prefer cocktails. Problem is I've never had a cocktail I've liked here, though I've tried three or four times now. I'm really not difficult to please. I went there this afternoon with my husband and ordered an old fashioned... it was unpalatable, as it was intensely sweet. I did indicate to the bartender that I wasn't overly pleased with my drink (though not extremely forcefully, if I'm honest) and he chose to ignore my comment and talk Scotch with my husband instead. He was friendly enough, just a little obtuse. read more

I'm not sure if they are going for the Surly Wench, "we're cool enough to give sassy customer service" vibe, but for me, it didn't really detract or add to the experience. As long as the bartender at a whiskey bar knows their whiskey, and they certainly appear to, I don't mind a little attitude with my order. I have to be honest, I have never had one of their doughnuts, but I was a little impressed/horrified that when they deemed a tray of doughnuts too old for customers they threw them out. (I'm sure a food pantry or homeless shelter would be grateful for day old doughnuts...) Every sandwich that I have had here has been exceptional. It's a great atmosphere. Casual enough for summer in Tucson, but classy enough to feel like you are treating yourself, at prices that don't make you consider a second mortgage. They also have a respectable beer list for a whiskey bar, but it is ultimately a whiskey bar, so don't cry if they don't have your favorite obscure micro-brew. Tap & Bottle is down the street if that's what you are looking for. I love the recent remodel. The whole space is more open, and I'm sure the bartender feels less claustrophobic too. After going back recently for the first time in quite a while, I think it will become a more common part of my rotation. If you are on the fence, try it and decide for yourself. read more

Donuts have been fixed! Every review from opening time should be taken with a grain of salt. I tried Batch (strictly for the donuts) the first week they were open and the donuts were BAD. I was so bummed because I originally was filled with excitement to know a spot in Tucson would be doing something more creative than the cliche bacon maple donut. I thought Tucson finally had a trendy donut shop similar to Portland's Voodoo Doughnuts. Well, I was let down... Until now! I'm really impressed that the owners of Batch saw the reaction from customers and did something about it. They now serve donuts from the best mom and pop donut shop in Tucson (Alvernon Donuts) and then add their creative spin as far as toppings go. One of my favorites is the Smores donut. I love the texture of the graham cracker dust on the marshmallows and the chocolate frosting is delicious. All this on a donut that is not too cakey or too oily. It's really fantastic. I also enjoy their key lime filled donut. It is really rich, but key lime is one of my favorite pies and this donut does not disappoint. So long story short, if you have tried Batch and were unimpressed, go back! If you have read bad reviews from early on in Batch's existence, give it a try anyway. The glaring defect of food quality has been addressed and these donuts are GREAT! read more

I'm a vegan and I really don't expect anyone to cater to me with extensive selections or anything, but when you're drinking whiskey you're going to want something as ballast. I could not find one thing to eat here. Probably could have requested a salad without cheese maybe. I asked if their chips were cooked in vegetable oil - a reasonable question I should think - and they could not answer. I had the pretzel bread and skipped the dip. I hope it was vegan. Don't know. Alright tables out on the sidewalk there on Congress. They have a pretty good selection of whiskey here but I simply can't drink here since there's nothing on the menu I can have. Worth visiting once. read more

Drinks were great. There were many choices of bourbon. The food was meh. I ordered a smoked salmon salad that promised salmon, capers, tomato, croutons and onion . No capers or tomato, which are a must with smoked salmon. There were also oyster crackers instead of croutons, which I thought was odd. I'll go back for cocktails, but I'm not sure about the food. I came to Batch on the recommendation of a friend. I like the concept of grilled cheese and whiskey. Seemed pretty cool. We walked into the place and weren't greeted was the first star I took away from the review. The second was the tables are small and weren't cleared or cleaned when we sat down. We ordered the Billie June. Underwhelmed is all I can say. The bread wasn't fresh, it really lacked flavor and for 8 dollars and some change I was really expecting more. Will I return here, probably not. My thought is if you specialize in grilled cheese you really need to step up your game. read more

Was excited to go back the Batch after having gone two years ago, however when my husband and I walked up there was a bearded bartender standing in front of the door talking with an outside table. I love that they were getting attention, however it's 101 outside and we are standing two feet in front of him waiting to walk in and he's just planted in front of the door with his hand on the handle. No acknowledgment of us two feet in front of him. We walk next door to check out a brewery and come back a few minutes later and he's gone so we walk in. The bar is pretty crowded but we find two seats, however they are so close together I sit down and my husband says he'll just stand and scoots the chair back. The same bearded man just gruffly says "that chair can't stay there", but there is no way we can sit pulled up to the bar and since he didn't seem to want us there anyway we just left. Don't expect to ever go back, unless we walk by and there is different staff. read more

We visited during a food tour and sampled the bacon bourbon cream donut. We stayed for a drink and the bartender was fabulous in taking time to explain options, differences, and sharing his thoughts but not in a forceful or condescending way...the donut was good, but I am not a cream fan, so it would not be my pick if I had a choice....the rest of the menu looked good, so hopefully we will have a chance to come back and try some other things. read more

My friend Lara and I stopped in after Meet Me at Maynards tonight to try this place. It was as good as I thought it would be! I had the special which was a prosciutto, swiss, grilled pepper sandwich. It was creamy and sweet, and the bread was divine! I had a beer to wash it down. My friend had glazed donut grilled cheese with prosciutto and raspberry jam! Also out of this world!! A grilled cheese menu is right up my alley! I love the long skinny space. Kyle was very nice, he talked to us about the menu, was friendly to my dog, and when a homeless came and asked for food (we were sitting outside) he went in and brought him out something. Very nice!! He made sure we were happy and liked our food. I can't wait to see how the menu evolves read more

I was ecstatic when I heard that a place was opening up downtown that would mainly exist to serve whiskey. I love whiskey. Not only do I love whiskey, I also love donuts! So low and behold when a coworker mentions Batch opening up that would solely serve WHISKEY & DONUTS, my interest was peaked. First hand experience however, wasn't what I wanted. The whiskey is underserved with very little variety or unique options. They serve food too apparently but unless you want other people stealing your food I wouldn't recommend ordering any. They didn't have a system for tracking who ordered what, and having to yell and squeeze past people in that cramped building is a guaranteed headache. To top it all off is the donuts, and their toppings. Which pathetically consisted of just different brands of cereal and candy. Sad, sad little cereal donuts to go with my under-poured crown. read more

Now in its sixth month of business, Batch is hitting its stride. While their original donut recipe was lacking, they now offer a nice variety of well-executed filled and holed donuts that range from the lighter side to completely over-the-top decadent. The Stud, for example, which is my go-to selection, is a chocolate-covered, Bavarian maple cream-filled monster with bacon crumbled on top. Grab a fork, knife, and some napkins because that thing is not finger food! Of course, the other famous component of the Batch concept is the whiskey bar. They boast one of the most expansive collections in the area of this supreme liquor, and it's served up by a staff that is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about their product. Over the last few months, we've come to feel very welcomed by all of the staff and now know them on a first-name basis. They take the time to show us new bottles, give us samples to try, and go above and beyond in order to provide great service. While it may seem strange on paper, the donut/whiskey bar/cafe concept really works. I've had limited experience with their menu other than whiskey and donuts, but I'll definitely be going back to try their grilled cheese sandwiches and boozy cereals. If they can improve the execution of their basic donut, and achieve that hot, crisp, light, and sweet perfection that I know a fresh donut can be, they'll easily earn their fifth star. Even so, Batch is easily worth repeat visits. If you're a fan, the whiskey menu alone can keep you busy for months! read more
