I live right near this place and have been wanting to check this place out for a while. I am not a hunter or fisher, but do have an interest in the outdoors, and wanted to check this place out. For starters, its HUGE. Beautifully decorated, with ao much detail to everything. It's obviously decorated in an outdoorsman theme, with animals everywhere! (stuffed, of course.) I learned that the animals that they have on display are legally obtained, which means that none were caught by bounty hunting but died naturally, and were taxadermied. The staff here seems great. I was greeted immediately when entering, and given a store map of what to look for. (this is also when I recieved the details on all the animals in the store.) While cruising the store, I noticed that they seem to have a huge variety of not only mens and womens clothing, but tons of different products as well, from home decor, to tents, and even some food in there as well! The older I get, the more I resemble Larry The Cable Guy, so I guess it should come as no surprise that I find myself clothes shopping at Bass Pro Shop. I've been to other franchises of the chain and have always marveled at the sheer scale of this retail operation. Probably ranks up there as best place to hide out and loot during an impending worldwide zombie attack. I was drawn here by their advertised sale on polo shirts, which were a great value at around $13 a pop. Of course, these were the lowest quality of all of the polo shirt selection on hand, so I just bought one, but I threw down a little extra cash for some other better-quality shirts. I liked the color palette they offered, unlike my experience at other retail clothing outlets where the color schemes are tailored to the youngest generation of hip-hop wannabes who apparently can't work enough lime green or pink into their wardrobe. I even bought a "performance fabric" T-shirt for working out in. It was so light and breathable, it felt like wearing an air drape. I'm afraid I can no longer hang with a ratty old cotton T-shirt for my gym togs. It winds up a soggy mess in the bottom of my gym bag anyhow. Now I have wicking technology, antimicrobial, bitchin' synthetic fibers righteously keeping me cool. And the prices were quite reasonable if you avoid some of the overpriced items. And any trip to the Bass Pro Shop is bound to be a window-shopping adventure. I mean, where else can you have access to all manner of sporting goods, durable outdoor gear, and barbeque accessories? They even have a restaurant in the store, which I am told has a decent beer selection. That's for another visit. Since I'm from Missouri, home of the largest Bass Pro, I always have to check-out Bass Pros in other areas. This location was one of my favorites. It's very large and has a great selection of all your outdoor gear and clothing need. Need a boat? They got it! Unique gifts? No problem. Camping gear... look no further! (sigh) I love this store! It's sure to be a kid pleaser too. It has giant aquariums and animals all over. It even has a giant waterfall and lil river running through the store. :) I've actually been a few times since I moved here. I have some mixed feelings about this place. The place looks amazing. I've had a great experience in the gun dept. Those guys are very knowledgeable and helpful. my complaints are with the archery dept. I was looking for a youth compound bow. I asked them to set it up. They said "it's all ready to go" I asked about the eye piece they said they couldn't do it at the time. I took it home to shoot it, I destroyed 3 arrows. I took it over to ROSS OUTDOORS. they tuned it, got it dialed in. And loved it. Thanks to ROSS OUTDOORS. Bass pro installed an eye piece on a friend bows, and dialed it in. I went to shoot it, and the windage adjustment was loose and fell off. Again kudos to the gun department but archery was disappointing. read more

On this day, a week before Halloween, we had a free photo with the Peanuts gang, held on tight for a merry-go-round ride, did some quality Crayola coloring work, completed a free foam pumpkin refrigerator magnet craft, looked at giant fish in an aquarium, rode two elevators, crossed bridges over a stream full of fish, tried out a tent, imagined the wind in our hair on some all terrain vehicles, sampled some pumpkin bread, and bought... oops, we forgot to buy anything. I'm going to start shopping at Sportsmans Warehouse. Bass Pro seems to always be out of stock on the most random items. They have almost zero items related to tree stands. Time to step up or lose loyal customers. Update, they still have a terrible restocking system. I just called them to get some information, the phone rang and rang for a long time. No answer. I finally just gave up.

WOWZA. Let me recount my first experience with Bass Pro Shops. It was a sunny (typical!) afternoon. A Saturday. I was with my father and brother on our way to lunch. The destination: Cracker Barrel. It wasn't my choice and I won't begin to tell you how horrid the food there is. Let's just say it earned the moniker Crapper Barrel and will forever be known as the worst place on earth to eat. Of course, if you've been to Mesa Riverview, you know that nearby the CB is this HUGE sporting goods store. Otherwise known as Bass Pro Shops. It was, of course, opening weekend. My dad and brother dragged me inside. Talk about retail meets theme park meets playground meets the wild outdoors. When you first walk in, you aren't sure what your eyes should settle upon. The flashy boats? The 4-wheelers? The huge fish tank? The gun room? The arcade games? From sling shots to dog collars, we looked it all over. We even spotted a camo bikini. Absurd. I even mounted a couple 4-wheelers and pretended I was flying down the dunes. (It reminded me past years when I used to have a 4-wheeler at my disposal.) I also climbed in a boat and tried out the seats, imagining myself out on the lake, pole in hand. It was reminiscent of the many fishing trips I took with Gramps. Between joking with my Dad and being in sheer bewilderment of the enormity of this place, I had fun. I hate to admit it, but it's true. From admiring the wood furniture to snapping a camera pic of a bull's testicles, I had fun! Granted, I don't so much attribute that to the store. A fudge shop! While stopping here today I really had no intention of leaving a review when I checked in. Once I saw they had a fudge shop I had to let everyone know. My local BPS doesn't even have a restaurant. Of course it is connected to a casino with several restaurants. If this doesn't tell which one I'm referring to, you'll never guess. I have been to a BPS in california and it had the restaurant but not a fudge shop. Our BPS needs one of these asap! They have excellent prices on fudge and the worst part (by worst, I mean best) is they have glazed cinnamon pecans, walnuts and almonds. These are my weakness and I couldn't resist. Always an awesome place to stop on in and check out all the goods. A little confusing to get to, off the freeway, but worth finding the way. Big parking lot, restaurant was closed still, but we got some snacks to keep us from being too hungry. Cool clothes, awesome outdoor stuff, relaxing environment, everything! This place is like my escape from the real world! Sometimes I come in with an empty stomach and just eat in their restaurant! And heck, they have an awesome lounge area with a fireplace right inside the front! Sometimes I just bring a book and veg out! I was here for Black Friday this year. And it was crazy!!!!! But it was super fun too. I came in to buy a firearm at the pretty low prices for that day. Stood inline just to fill out paperwork and man. I was there for hours!!! Used to love this place, even bought our boat here. Went in for some new shoes and grabbed a pair to try on and was looking for a second pair. The three employees in the shoe department were to busy making Jesus jokes and taking about their pay to be bothered by a customer. Put the shoes back and left desgusted. I love Bass Pro Shop. It is really an awesome store. I am writing this review because this particular shop and location is above and beyond exceptional. The quality of the customer service and care is wonderful. Came here the other day with my father . We found easy parking. Bathrooms were clean( always important) . Our goal was to get some more arrows for my traditional Bear Grizzly bow and the archery department was quite helpful. The man even put my arrow heads in for me and assured me that I had made the best choice in my brand of arrows. I decided to cancel my order on the spot because of his rude behavior, and he threatened to have my purchasing rights suspended indefinitely and even tossed my ID on the counter when I asked to speak to his manager. Have been in here a million times and definitely experienced the best customer service today with Jake in the fishing department. My boyfriend and I came in to buy some new poles and fishing gear and Jake was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helpful. He made some great recommendations on products we weren't familiar with and really seemed to know his stuff. He probably spent a good 30 minutes with us and didn't make us feel rushed while picking the right poles and bait caster. Will definitely continue to purchase here and hopefully Jake is there the next time we need help!!! read more

I received a new Bowtech Blackout SS bow from my loving wife for Christmas, so on New Years day, I headed into Bass Pro Shops in Mesa to get it all setup. I was greeted by Kevin in the Archery dept who was extremely helpful and genuinely cared about getting my new bow all dialed in for me. It has been about 16 years since I previously owned a bow (moved to California which took me out of commission) but I am looking forward to eventually returning to Az and renewing my love for bow hunting. Kevin took his time with me and really provided great guidance. Within no time at all, he had the new bow shooting great in my hands and offered excellent shooting guidance on the BPS indoor range. Such a fun free thing to do with the kids! My kids are 2 and 3. We ran around looking at all the animals and checked out the aquariums and awesome kids section. They let kids feed the trout everyday at 1:30! I got them a kids meal to split in the restaurant. It was plenty of food for both kids and we sat right in front of a huge aquarium. The reason I didn't give them five stars is that the wait within the speciality areas is always ridiculous as they're severely understaffed to meet the demand. The selection of goods is excellent. Just left this location. My boyfriend and I got up to the registers and got into line where the register is closer to the door than the other register in the same section. The lantern was on when we got in line and other guy got in line behind us. The person in front of us got done checking out when we got up there and the young blonde lady, name possibly starts with a K, says to us, ummm actually I'm closed. I told her the light was on when we got in line. She flat out says with attitude, no it wasn't. Ok yeah, because two groups of people got in the line without the lantern light being on.. After that she just ignores us, so then the three of us get into others lines. My boyfriend put back his waterproof cell phone case next to the register cause he refused to buy it. And this is because of this employees attitude, not that we had to go into another line. My boyfriend fly fishes a lot and has shopped here many times but will not coming back. This employee should not be in retail if she can't wait to "get out of there" or "go on break" and then has attitude when a customer calls her out in her crap. read more
