I had never been to a Bass Pro shop before my visit here. It's huge and has literally everything you can need for the outdoors. We came here on Easter, as my friend made a reservation to do Easter Bunny pictures. BP offers a complimentary print (with the option to purchase more prints) for each attendee which I think is awesome. After our photo shoot, we shopped around a bit. Lots of brands to choose from, and lots of fun things for kids. The staff were pleasant and the store was clean and well organized. Returning again, unfortunately second time wasn't pleasant as well. I tried to give them another try but it definitely didn't go well. I see they still have the old witch up front and unfortunately you think someone with such an ugly attitude towards customers and coworkers they would get rid of. Bought a new Benelli Raffaello 12 Gage Shotgun waited 5 days for it to arrive. Get down there they cut open the box gun looks great staff member can't get it put together says he has to give it the Benelli bump and slammed in on the concrete. The wood ended up with a chip after the benelli bumb. I complained and they said its sold as is. They would not order me a new one. Only could get a refund. Benelli Bumb on a $3,000 gun where do that find theses guys? read more

This is an excellent point of entertainment, action, activity, and shopping. Almost a tourist attraction, when you include the rentals. The quality of products is not the common threads you would find in a lower end store. Versatile selection, expected pricing for good quality products. I would suggest that they amp up their non existent customer service though. Terrible place to shop. Management is aggressive and fail to take things like firearm safety seriously. Poor quality in both services as well as products. Don't buy rusty guns here. They refuse to fix the firearms storage so the vast majority of the firearms have been subjected to far more abuse than a "new" firearm should. read more

The store is huge. Think like this home depot for the outdoor lovers. They have fishing poles to fish inf boats. From A to Z for the outdoor they have it here. I came for their fishing department. Did I mention huge selections. I got poles and reel and fishing hooks and fishing lines. Etc. You got the point. For those of you do not know exactly what you want or what to look for get an associate as soon as you walk in. The store can be over whelm at times. Stopped by looking to get a 22LR semi-auto pistol to introduce my daughter to range shooting. There were 4 guys working the counter and two customers. When I asked if one guy was free to speak to me, he told me "NO" and to scan their QR system to que up in line. No problem for me, so I did as he said. Heard them call out the next guy in the que, he was not around so I figured I was next. Two sales guys finished a gun sale to a couple, one guy was waiting on someone who just popped up and wanted to talk shotguns, and then the guy who spoke to me went to help someone on the floor. When he came to ring the customer up I asked about the que and he told me that he would get to me after he finished with the guy on the floor. Told him not to bother and walked out. This review and 5 stars are specifically for their boating department. Came in to buy a Tracker Jon boat and was helped by the best sales associates. There were a few hiccups (none of which were the associates' faults), but it was a very pleasant buying experience. Charles was new, but a great communicator and kept us informed at every step of the process. Brian and Janet also helped us with great sincerity, even though it wasn't their sale. It was raining fairly hard and Brian ran outside to get our boat's serial number to expedite the paperwork. Gave us his card and told us to call him if there were any problems with the boat, even though it didn't have any warranty on it and he would see what they could do for us. Although we don't expect there to be anything wrong, we really appreciated his offer. Janet took over for the finance person who went to lunch, so we wouldn't have to wait an hour for him to come back. (She actually did the paperwork for a previous boat we bought here a few years ago.) Michael at parts & services helped us load the boat on our truck and took it upon himself to replace a plug that seemed shoddy. This location seriously has the BEST boating team. Everyone was very friendly, efficient, and sincere. We were extremely impressed with the excellent customer service. Highly recommend buying a boat from them. read more

We went to Bass Pro in Katy to look at archery equipment. Angel the sales associate was extremely patient and knowledgeable. He taught us everything we needed to know about all the different types of bows, arrows, accessories. He helped us make an informed educated decision on what items to purchase. We were very impressed and thankful for all his help. We bought a lot of items because of Angel. We also got a large target. it was Christmas Eve. And we didn't feel rushed or pushed. He focused on us as the customers and helped make Christmas better. He exudes what customer service should be. read more

I can't, for the life of me, figure out why Bass Pro Shops keeps sending me credit card applications. I am not a hunter or a fishing type person and I don't really look great in camo. Still, they want me as a customer. This really is an interesting store although I can't really find anything for myself here. My husband's uncle is an avid hunter and we can typically find him a nice gift at Bass Pro Shops that he can use while he's out stalking wildlife. Mostly, I go for the huge fish tank feature inside the store. I think it is really interesting to see and figured my daughter would enjoy seeing the fish in such a habitat. But, since we had to walk through the store that is covered in dead and stuffed animals she was a bit traumatized. Now, each time we walk past the section of the Katy Mills Mall where Bass Pro Shops is located, I have to help her cover her eyes and guide her blindly past the store so she doesn't see the heads of animals mounted on the walls inside and outside the store. This store is a destination for many in the Houston area though and very popular with people looking for ways to increase their enjoyment while hunting, fishing or camping. Very interesting items in the huge store with gift items for outdoor enthusiasts that don't mind the dead animals throughout the store. My daughter is not impressed though. read more

I came here with my mom who is disabled and has a handicap tag. The handicap parking is the FURTHEST parking from the door. I'm not sure why... It just is. When we asked inside the nice greeter guy said that Bass Pro Shop has been trying to change its parking situation for awhile, but the mall won't let them. So, I guess I can't fault Bass Pro Shop, but if you come here with anyone disabled, drop them off at the front door and then park. This Bass Pro Shop is huge and always seems busy. They have your typical Bass Pro Shop selection: fishing/hunting/camping gear, ATVs, boats, and any clothes that come in camo lol We mostly come here to look at the boats and ATVs, purchase cast iron cookware, and laugh at whatever redneck randomness we can find (and this place has plenty). Everyone that worked here was friendly and the store was clean. My only complaint came when we went to check out. The card reader had a hard time reading my mom's card. They wanted to do the manual card reader (remember those swipey things with the paper from like 1993???) and my mom was uncomfortable with that for whatever reason. So, they had to cancel that and ring up her stuff all over again at another register. They had a hard time with her card at this register as well and the manager had to wrap her card in a plastic bag to get their old, tired readers to read her card! Her card isn't old or tattered, so the whole situation seemed silly. I think it's time for Bass Pro Shop Katy Mills to get some newer card readers! read more

There's really no use in writing a review for this place. You must go for yourself to truly experience all that is Bass Pro Shops. It looks like what you'd imagine Larry the Cable Guy's dream vacation spot would be. There is camo everywhere. I used to think there was only two types of camo--the green and brown. Nope. Not even close. There must be hundreds! And they put camo on everything--from clothing to tends to canteens to water flasks. Since everything is bigger in Texas (ahem, I'd like to point out that Alaska is almost two and half times bigger than Texas. . .just a little food for thought) and this store is evidently trying to embrace all the stereotypes about Texas, they went huge. I could've gotten lost in there, but I'm sure I would've found a compass to help me find my way back out amongst all the camping gear. If you're anti-hunting, this may not be the place for you. If you're not from the South, you may not be used to seeing guns around, much less seeing young children looking at guns. This is the norm here. They also have a huge fishing section which made me all nostalgic. I had so much fun reveling in all the cool gadgets that I would never use that we ended up spending over an hour there when we were really on the way to the outlet mall inside. It is a completely different world than what you'd see in downtown Houston, so be ready for a good time and roaming around the aisles. Don't forget to take a snack in case you get lost. read more

This is a pretty darned big store. It's huge, as a matter of fact. You can easily get sucked into looking at everything they have and spend the whole day in one store. Personally, I think this location has a less extensive selection of women's clothes. Their Bob Timberlake section seems much smaller than in the store down on 288. The men's section is ok, but also seems smaller. The guns and archery sections are nice and big and the kayak and canoe section is very nice. The fishing section is large and has just about everything you need. Take a look at the fly fishing section to see something fun. If you have never done fly fishing, you should try it. The boats are mostly all outside in this store and it's hard to impossible to get out there from the store. It's best to go on your way in or on the way out. They have some luxury party barges as well as fast bass boats, john boats, bay boats, and nice cabin cruisers available. They handle Honda outboards, so there is not a selection of motors. Overall, you can get some good ideas about floating fun while you shop for other goodies. read more

I just had a great experience here. I recently bought a "new to me" but used boat. It's needs a new water pump and a few odds and ends, so here's how this went. I called the Tracker Marine center this morning, the phone was answered right away. I spoke with Doug who knew exactly what I was asking for with numbers right off the top of his head. I hooked up the boat, drove all the way there. Stepped into the service center and was immediately greeted by Andy, also super nice. Andy retrieved their master tech, Thomas, and he was more than happy to spend time with me going over everything on the boat and motor. Very pleased! So next I went into the store, was immediately greeted on the way in. Clean bathrooms (thank you). Throughout my meandering of the store I was always greeted by someone asking if I needed help. Finally I arrived at the fish finders, and again, was immediately met by an employee named Ashley. Ashley knew pretty much everything about every unit sitting there. She spent an hour showing and teaching me anything I might want to know about each unit. She was really great! And then here came Joshua, who was also just as nice. I recently was able to purchase some standard capacity magazines for my Beretta 92FS at this location, but I couldn't help but notice that when they were rung up at the register, they were listed in the computer as "high capacity" magazines. 15 rounds in a 9mm Beretta magazine is standard, it is not "high capacity." I get the awful impression that Bass Pro is unwittingly (or possibly knowingly) contributing to an emerging mindset among the gun control loving demographic that is demonizing firearm magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. They have really good fudge! Some of it is precut, boxed and placed near the checkouts, but there is a little stand near the entrance where you can get a fresh piece if you wish. This is a good place to shop for anyone who likes the outdoors - which is likely why this is also called "Outdoor World". They don't have to enjoy killing small (or large) animals even if there are heads mounted on walls and most items are camo print. I have come shopping here for items for my caribbean and alaskan cruises and for hiking. There's a huge section with smokers, grills and all sorts of sauces and rubs to season meat if you enjoy cooking. I believe they even sell items for campers. So there is plenty here if you enjoy the outdoors in any way. The only annoyance are the people trying to sell time shares near the mall entrance and they didn't seem to sell women's thermals when I went - only mens. But they have really good fudge! read more

When I left, they did not say what most others have told me when I left their store with a gun purchase, "If you have any warranty issues, don't bring it back to us, you have to deal with the manufacturer." Bass Pro Shop said," If you have a warranty problem the manufacturer will have to take care of it, but bring it back in hear and we will help you get it resolved," I have purchased 5 guns in the last 2 years. This is the only vender that has offered to help. I indeed did have and issue. I brought it in and the guys in the gun shop fixed it on the spot. Great Job! read more

Just left the store - wanted to buy a pair of Columbia Sandals and found a rack priced at $34.95. When we got to the register, they rang up at $54.95. When the difference was pointed out, the clerk asked for a price check. When I met the employee at the shoe rack, she said someone must have stocked them wrong and ripped off the price tags. Never in my life did I expect to find myself writing a review for Bass, however my 3 year old son has suddenly (and randomly) developed a love for fishing, so our family has been to this location 3 times in the past 4 days- once to buy a child's fishing pole and twice to go to the Bass Pro Shop Summer Camp. I can't speak highly enough of the Summer Camp. This weekend they had a big jacuzzi set up in the back of the shop with small fish. The employees would bait a line and, after signing a lengthy waiver, help the child hook a fish. My son was thrilled! Then the child proudly stood in front of a back drop and another employee would take a picture to send to you through text or email. This event was free and my son couldn't have enjoyed it any more. There was also an archery station with nerd arrows and a BB gun shooting station, as well as places to sit and hear employees talk about different topics. I am so thankful for all the time and effort that went into planning and having this weekends catch and release summer camp and was very happy with the way the employees talked to, educated and treated my son. I love coming to Bass Pro Shops. Being an avid hunter and fisherman, they have everything to make both of those a successful trip. Everything from high end boats, ATV's, gear, camping, clothing, weapons, you name it can be found here. My kids like watching the fish tank and seeing all the different fish inside. A great place to shop for the outdoor person in your life. They have such a huge selection of merchandise, I am sure you can find something for everyone. Be sure and price shop though. All though they have pretty much everything, you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere. read more
