The atmosphere is steeped in history, featuring a stunning 114-year-old hardwood Brunswick bar and a beautiful turn-of-the-century National Cash Register. From the vintage cigarette machine by the door to the classic pool table, every corner of the saloon radiates character and charm. The history here is fascinating--it originally served as a grocery store before transitioning into the Stockman's Pastime Bar in the 70s, eventually becoming the Pengilly's we know and love in 1976. That legacy is felt in the soul of the building. The service is consistently excellent. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, making every visit a great experience. Whether I'm ordering a Sex on the Beach or sticking to a Shirley Temple when I'm the designated driver, the drinks are always spot on. My fiancé usually goes for a double Jack and Coke, and we always have a fantastic time soaking in the live music performed by talented local artists. The back patio was one of my favorite parts. It felt peaceful while still capturing the energy of the city. The exposed brick, dark wood, and warm lighting created a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made it easy to settle in and stay awhile. Their happy hour is another huge plus. The cocktails were reasonably priced, and everyone in our group loved both the drinks and the overall vibe. This may have just become my favorite cocktail spot in town. The backyard (not sure what to call it) is like a playground for adults who drink and like to be social. Bring a steak to cook on the grill, yes, in the backyard, a steak, a grill!! One day I was offered some steak by a group of people that had just grilled. It was weird to be offered a slice of steak in the bar, I said yes of course. You can chill by the fire pit or throw horseshoes even when it is a cooler season. Went outside the other day (January) and the fire pit was roaring and the horseshoe pits were looking lonely. The food was great until the company left recently but there will be tacos coming very soon from a new company. During the riding season I have seen some motorcycles stop by and it is biker friendly. Perry told me about the various weekly events like line dancing, karaoke and blingo!! I'm so glad I stopped by this delightful and welcoming establishment! There is additional seating adjacent to the bar area along with a large patio. Helina Marie was working on the cute little boutique. I can't wait to see the finished version! Helina Marie's even has a cute tiny travel trailer so they can offer bar catering services. The also can host private events.
