I purchased a 2024 CX-5. Awesome vehicle. I don't regret buying this but I do regret buying from Basney. My key fob started acting up within the first month. "Low Battery" and "Key not Detected" intermittently. Then died completely. So, I changed the battery, it worked for about a week then started acting up again the same way. I changed the battery yet again with the same results until I couldn't unlock my door. I contacted my salesperson, Shawn, via text and let him know I got locked out of my car because of this fob. I spoke with their service advisor. Both were unhelpful. I spoke with my salesperson the next day and I was told to drop my car off at the dealership for the day/night so they can "diagnose" the problem. I explained again that it will work for about a week when they change the battery. Then it will do the same thing. I asked if they can simply exchange this faulty fob with a working fob. He said again that they have to "diagnose" whether the fob works when they change the battery. I tried explaining again to no avail. I reminded him that I just purchased a brand-new 2024 CX-5 Premium in December. Again I asked if they could simply order me a new one then "diagnose" all you want with my faulty fob. A simple exchange. He said, "We're not going to order you a $380 key fob without going through the diagnosis period." I explained yet again about the situation and he replied with the same response. They'd rather make me drop my car off multiple times so they can keep trying to "fix" it with a new battery each time. A prime example of profit over customer service. I had to purchase my own key fob today so I don't get in another situation where I cannot unlock my door I highly recommend the Mazda CX-5, BUT you should definitely purchase one from a reputable Mazda dealership. Went in to get some warranty work done (needed seat badges replaced on my 2015 M3) and also to purchase an extra key. Service work was quick and results perfect! Placed an order for the new key and it was ready for me the next day (vs dealers in California who I work with that said it would take a week). Friendly staff all around and a cool showroom! These guys are the real deal! From start to finish, a total class act! Everyone at Basney from Chris Egan, to both of the Chad's are super friendly, helpful, honest, funny and they beat the snot out of any Chicagoland dealer. No games and total honesty are rare in this industry but Basney BMW does both. Never tried to upsell, didn't try to hide any fees, just total transparency. After working out the details remotely, I took a train ride to South Bend and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I have purchased a lot of cars and this was the easiest deal ever. I have to say that even including my train ride and the drive back I can almost guarantee that I still saved time versus the time it would have taken negotiating with the dealers in the Chicagoland area...and the train ride was pleasant to boot. Anyways, if you are within a day or two drive, I think it is well worth it to shop Basney BMW. You will not be disappointed with how you are treated. This is an updated review from my review on Google I posted July 27th, 2018. So, after waiting a week and a half for an appointment I made to get my Air conditioner fixed on my 650i on the 27th of July they didn't have the part and had to order it and make another appointment. Well today being 2 weeks later I am finally excited to be driving in an air conditioned vehicle...I mean it is summer after all. I drop my car off and then pick it up around 1 in the afternoon. Paid what I owed and left the dealership. Well I already had one bad experience 2 weeks ago and so far they were making great strides at redeeming themselves. Go figure I spoke too soon. After I picked my car up I cranked the AC on. About a mile down the road it was still blowing hot air. So I gave "Basney BMW" the benefit of the doubt....I stopped at O'Reilly Auto parts and picked up some Freon so I could recharge my AC when I got home...After all I haven't used it in quite sometime. When I connected the freon...the gauge said it was over full. So, I started looking up some answers on Google and youtube to see ifnthere was a DIY fix....Well I did everything asked....then the online help said, "If all else fails make sure the AC compressor is working." AND BOOM LORD BEHOLD THE BELT I HAVE BEEN WAITING ON FOR 3.5 WEEKS FOR AND PAID FOR ISNT EVEN ON MY F*@#ING CAR... So I call the service department back and inform them of my misfortune and level of "unhappiness" To make a long story short and before I start ranting and raving more than what I have.....I have to wait another 2 weeks (because I live here in South Bend and still have my house in Indianapolis) to get my Air Conditioner in my car fixed....and yes. You better believe I got my money back. I hope other BMW driver's have had better luck. read more

Update 7/16/14 - As a follow up to my original review, it has been confirmed that Basney also misdiagnosed the problem with my convertible top. They indicated the top did not work do to low voltage in the battery. The battery did in fact need to be replaced which I had done elsewhere as Basney's quote was over $200 higher. I had to take the vehicle elsewhere to have the problem with the top correctly diagnosed and fixed. There has been a consistent pattern of issues and problems over the last eight years which compelled me to write the review. I am well versed on Yelp and rarely write such a negative review, but felt it was important to share my experience given the history and significant damage that was caused to my vehicle. **** Original Review: I purchased a BMW from Basney BMW in 2006 and have had nothing but negative and disappointing experiences with the dealerships service department and level of customer service. I've learned to avoid going to the dealership; however my regular shop recommended having a BMW dealership replace the tensioner in my Z4 and investigate why the convertible top wasn't working. The tensioner was replaced without issue and they quoted $325 to replace the battery since there wasn't enough voltage to operate the top. I received multiple quotes for the battery and all were $200 less!! The car had been back and forth between Basney and another shop and upon completion of the work was returned with significant damage, including large dents in the hood and front panel. Basney immediately claimed they were not responsible for the damage without so much as looking at the vehicle. Meanwhile, the other shop went above and beyond in providing assistance and finding a solution despite believing Basney was responsible. It's unfortunate that Basney does not see the value in customer service for a long time customer. I've learned my lesson and will take my business elsewhere and encourage others to do the same. read more

Went here to get my car repaired after being backed into just in front of passenger side door. Unlike all the others collision repair locations I went to they actually took the time to thoroughly check out my car. However, the repair was not done well. The window in my passenger side door was not operating correctly so I returned and asked them to look at. They proceeded to tell me that nothing was wrong with it (when clearly there was as my friends commented saying they were scared they would break my window every time they shut the door). Since they refused to fix it I figured I would just live with it as it was functioning (just not well). However, today the window stopped working all together and I don't know what else would have caused it besides this already present issue. read more

We took our 2012 X3 there because it felt like the transmission was slipping or causing a jerk while accelerating. Basney told us we needed a new or rebuilt transfer case. Their quote was $900 more than another reputable company in South Bend that could do the same service. Based on Basney's diagnosis, the other shop got a rebuilt transfer case and switched it out. When I picked it up, I had only drove the car about a mile and noticed the same issue. The symptom was sporadic , so they didn't experience it when they test drove it after the service. Long story short, the car needed a new coil and BMW suggest that all of them be replaced. So for an additional $900, we had the shop replace them and now the problem is gone. Basney did a mis-diagnosis and also charged us $100, since we didn't have them do the work. I had contacted Basney to see if they could at the least, purchase the transfer case that is still good and of course that would be too much customer satisfaction for them to provide. We have always taken this car their for service but this was the last time. They offered a credit for our $100, which we would need to take it back there for that. So 2 things came out of this, we are done with Basney and our next car will not be a BMW! read more

Very good service. Not pushy and they really do go above and beyond to give the customer a good experience. I was in the market to buy a car and did find one I liked at Basney. The salesman, Chris, took me on a 30 minute test drive (all the way to the interstate and up and back an exit) which was far longer than any other dealership had done and allowed me to get a great feel for the car. Additionally, I was not pressured and Chris gave me his cell to call with any questions as I considered the purchase. I did decide to buy the car, and as a first time BMW owner, was given a thorough introduction to the ins and outs of the vehicle by Joe. Additionally, they do a great followup both by phone and email in case you need anything or have questions. A followup service of the car after purchase and free washes were icing on the cake. A bad day for Basney. I will never buy from Basney--here is why. They care more for profit than people, but pretend to be kind. The MAIN POINTS - the used car warranty is a scam so they don't have to list the cars "As-Is," they don't stand behind their products and refused to "pay" their own shop to repair a car they're selling, they told me they would rather sell the car at auction to make a profit rather than meet my purchase requests ($300) for the car. They accused the car inspector of making up things that didn't need to be fixed after having agreed about the issues earlier. BUYER BEWARE! Tim, the used car manager at Basney Mazda, was far less than polite when he abruptly responded "I'm busy," after being asked for help. One might think that the customer in your face takes priority over a computer screen--perhaps I'm wrong. In comes Tom, a salesperson with a fast tongue. Tom at first seemed kind and accommodating--even replied to Tim's behavior with a prompt "screw him," to align with his new client. Everything was ok until the car was inspected during the pre-sale process. This vehicle needed new rotors, and had about 20% brakes in the front and 30% in the rear remaining. The vehicle also needed a four wheel alignment. Though it sat on their lot for 148 days, none of this was previously addressed on a vehicle that had been "inspected" and was being sold with a "warranty..." (insert confused look). I even spoke with Chad Basney who knew I had a check in hand, and he sided with the Tim, the rude used sales manager. Profits-over-people. Instead of making a sale, earning a promotor and possible repeat customer, they have inspired me to warn others to avoid them if you're looking for quality vehicles and service. Based on past experience, I don't have a lot of confidence in the service staff's ability to diagnose and repair problems correctly. About a yeay ago my X5 displayed a warning light which limted engine output due to high engine temps caused by a failed water pump. My factory warranty had expired by 6000 miles. I contacted Basney with waranty questions/ service . I was told "you are a few miles out of warranty coverage, we can't do anything for you-total repair bill will be approx. $1600.00 for you out of pocket. This was kind of hard to beilieve since I'm in the 50K mile range and I have a failed water pump-do I need to buy/replace a water pump every 50K? At the idea of the BMW online forums I contacted a different dealership with my issue(Ziegler) WITHOUT mentioning the Basney conversation, I was told the service advisor would return my call after a call to BMW warranty claims. When the call was returned I was pleasantly surprised to find out that BMW warranty would cover 50% of repairs if I had the vehicle towed to Kzoo. I was happy with this compromise, afterall "technically" I was out of warranty, but then again: should I replace a water pump every 50K miles? I had the vehicle towed on a day that I could wait for the repair. Upon arrival I was offered to wait on site or have a rental car for free which I happily accepted. A few hours later I was notified of repair completion and returned to the dealership. Upon checkout my advisor contacted warranty for a claim#/account# and was told BMW warranty will cover 75% cost and the tow truck ticket. I was very pleased and curious to why this wasn't even a thought by Basney, but regardless; Zeigler and BMW stood MUCH taller than Basney in my eyes. I ended up paying approx. 400$ when I would have paid 1600$ at Basney. I will prefer to use Zeigler for the fact that they have saved me money as well as inquired about other options/services. I have worked at a car dealership before and I understand warranty policy and it CAN BE flexible depending on customer/case by case basis for customer service. Horrible experience when i spent over 1400 dollars to have a whole new clutch kit put in it, went the more expensive route to get it done "right". Well the clutch sticks every now and then, but the worst part it i got my car back with my whole air intake filter and box completely taken apart and just dropped in place not supported or hooked up. Didnt know that at first so kept getting codes of missfires, mass airflow sensors, o2 sensors and such so i kept buying the parts and putting them in. At the end all it was was a horriblely placed air filter thats worth 300 alone, forced into the box shield it has, resting in oil and dirt. It took me 15 mins to figure out how to get it out, re-attatch it the right way, and hook everything up. so simple. But that made my car start up, not shut off at stop and red lights, and no misfires. Extremely unsatisfied with that. Been there before for simple services and those were great. But this just made me extremly furious and irritated that i spent that much and something as simple as that, looked like it was just thrown in there and not cared about. read more

I have dealt off and on with Basney for five years. The only reason I do not have all my car care done there is because of the time zone issue (I live in Michigan City and it is hard to coordinate service times with my work schedule). When I recently received a suspicious set of expensive recommendations from another NWI BMW dealer, I oak off a half day to get a second opinion. It turns out that the other dealer's insistence that both front and rear brakes and a sensor needed immediate replacement was completely inaccurate. And as usual, Greg Pérz was professional and the technicians were efficient. Have made my follow up appointment for next month. And am writing the manager of the "other dealer" to let him know my dissatisfaction. read more

I live halfway between two BMW dealers. Time and again, Basney wins out. The gentleman who greets owners as they drive into the service area is polite and cordial. Service advisor Greg Perz has always been very clear, detailing what needs to be done and making suggestions to attend to in the future. The newly remodeled area is a vast improvement, although I usually ask for and receive a loaner car for the day. They have provided rides to local conferences when I have needed to leave my vehicle. My 328xi is returned to me nicely washed and vacuumed. It is worth the drive, and worth the effort to cross time zones to know my car is well cared for. Thank you Basney! read more
