I made an appointment at 9:30 to get my car fixed which I was told would take 2 hours. I arrived at 9:20. At about 11 I looked in service area and my car had not been moved. When I asked service about why did I make an appointment, she was rude and walked away. I did not leave until 2:45 pm. There is so much more I could add here of the service managers and the treatment I have received but I only have so much space. I will not go back nor ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

Wow I walked into the basney location and all the sales people were on there phones playing with them. The staff in general were all laid back playing with there phones. I guess no one was interested in talking to me about cars that I was looking to purchase for next year. I guess while I research cars I'll look for another Honda dealership that's intetested in helping me or at least taking some initiative to get up when a potential customer walks in the store. I went to the local Nissan dealership (Gurley Leep) down the road and several of them asked if I needed anything or what I needed help with. Now that is service which Basney doesn't seen to have. My bottom line is that I don't trust this place. Here is my story. We were passing through the area and had a check engine light on our Honda with over 170K miles. This is an old car that I was driving to give to one of my kids. To the dealer's credit, they were able to get us in the same day and complete the repairs. My problem is that the experience felt like a mob shakedown. The first thing is they told me I needed an oil change. Not true: i changed the oil about a month ago and less than 1000 miles ago. Next, they identified a legitimate problem that was probably the cause of the check engine light. Next they said the spark plugs were fouling and old. I had a spreadsheet with me with the major servicing on the car. I originally changed the plugs at 130K miles:. My understanding is that plugs needed to be changed every 100K miles. Now, let's do the math. 130 + 100 = 230. The manager told me that the plugs actually needed to be changed every 50K miles. Now, 130 + 50 = 180. 170 is less than 180. When I revealed and had the record of the spark plug change at 130K mils, he moved the goal posts. He he told me the plugs needed to be changed every 30K miles. Next he told me that the AC compressor needed to be changed because of a small leak. I live in Florida, and the AC seemed to be working fine, though perhaps there is a small leak. Next he told me that the software needed to be updated. I've owned the car for nearly 10 years and never had it updated. Three days earlier I took this car to a Honda dealer in Georgia three days earlier to replace the starter. (It was an expensive road trip.) They didn't need to update the software. In the end, I wanted the car made roadworthy to complete the final 500 miles of the trip, so I did replace the plugs and update the software, both of which may have been superfluous. I was on the road and did want to fool around, so I paid the mob protection money. My suggestion: take your car elsewhere. read more

What a disappointment and waste of time! Assisting granddaughter to purchase her first car. She found a nice 2020 (15k mileage) but Unfortunately, the rear bumper was damaged (while on their lot). Although Bryan, the sales rep, assured her it would be fixed to satisfaction that was not the outcome. purchased a 2024 CX-5. Awesome vehicle. I don't regret buying this but I do regret buying from Basney. My key fob started acting up within the first month. "Low Battery" and "Key not Detected" intermittently. Then died completely. So, I changed the battery, it worked for about a week then started acting up again the same way. I changed the battery yet again with the same results until I couldn't unlock my door. I contacted my salesperson, Shawn, via text and let him know I got locked out of my car because of this fob. I spoke with their service advisor. Both were unhelpful. I spoke with my salesperson the next day and I was told to drop my car off at the dealership for the day/night so they can "diagnose" the problem. I explained again that it will work for about a week when they change the battery. Then it will do the same thing. I asked if they can simply exchange this faulty fob with a working fob. He said again that they have to "diagnose" whether the fob works when they change the battery. I tried explaining again to no avail. I reminded him that I just purchased a brand-new 2024 CX-5 Premium in December. Again I asked if they could simply order me a new one then "diagnose" all you want with my faulty fob. A simple exchange. He said, "We're not going to order you a $380 key fob without going through the diagnosis period." I explained yet again about the situation and he replied with the same response. They'd rather make me drop my car off multiple times so they can keep trying to "fix" it with a new battery each time. prime example of profit over customer service. I had to purchase my own key fob today so I don't get in another situation where I cannot unlock my door I highly recommend the Mazda CX-5, BUT you should definitely purchase one from a reputable Mazda dealership. The customer service and care at BOSAK is the same as if you were buying a Range Rover. The customer service here at basney is like buying a used lawn mower off Craigslist. I put down a $500 deposit to receive a vehicle within a certain window. When the truck was delayed and I couldn't get a definitive answer as to when exactly my vehicle would be finished, I decided to see if there was somewhere else with the truck. I told Basney this and they didn't push back. I just purchased a brand new truck at BOSAK and I'm so glad I did. They were far more knowledgable and caring. Basney refused to refund the deposit and literally, literally!, slammed the door in my face. They'll be able to sell this high demand truck within a week of it landing on the lot. On August 1st at 3:14pm the front driver side wheel and tire on my 2004 Honda Pilot came off my vehicle without warning while I was driving at 40 mph. Thankfully, my 10-year-old brother and I did not sustain any injuries. Furthermore, the wheel and tire that came off the vehicle did not strike anyone, rather went into a wooded area. The police spotted my vehicle in the middle of the busy highway and assisted me installing the spare in place of the wheel and tire that suddenly came off the vehicle. Upon, inspection of my 2004 Honda Pilot the police officers noted that multiple lug nuts on the three remaining wheels and tires were lose to the point of falling off. After tightening the multiple lose lug nuts on the three remaining wheels and filing a damage to private property report with the officers, I was able to drive my damaged car to a local Firestone. My most recent recommended service was from Basney Honda on Grape Road in Mishawaka, Indiana. On July 17th, I paid for a full synthetic oil change, a tire rotation, and a multi-point inspection on my vehicle. The mileage on my Honda at the time of the service visit was 159,006. Comparatively, the mileage on my Honda when the wheel and tire came off was 160,091. That means only 15 days and 1,085 miles had passed since the service visit. Based off general manufacturers maintenance guidelines, tire rotations should last 6 months or 3,000-5,000 miles or until the next oil change. This unfortunate event leads me to conclude either negligence or certainly a significant error or omission of process has occurred for my vehicle to only have traveled 1,085 miles when a wheel and tire came off the vehicle. On August 3rd I spoke to the service manager of Basney Honda, Alan Royce, about the incident. After informing him of the date of the incident and the mileage on my car he told me that a Basney insurance claim could not be started until he received an estimate from a body shop on the damages to my vehicle. With that being the case, on August 6th I drove my 2004 Honda Pilot from Firestone to a local body shop where I received and forwarded the estimate to Alan Royce. From August 6th through August 16th I called Alan Royce 12 times trying to get updates on the status of my vehicle. Every time I called to get an update I would either be sent straight to his voicemail or his only answer was that he would call me back. Alan, refused to call me back when he said he would. In addition to Alan's refusal to update me on the status of the repair, Alan also informed me that an insurance adjuster would arrive at the repair facility to inspect my vehicle. This turned out to be another lie, as an inspector never came. So, to add insult to injury, the insurance underwriter NEVER came to look at my vehicle and I never spoke with anyone from Basney's insurance company. Alan continued to play this game until August 19th when he called to inform me that Basney WOULD NOT be covering the damages to my vehicle because of the 15 days that had passed along with the 1,085 miles that were driven. To summarize what happened. My transportation needs are not their concern as I went 18 days without transportation. Their character and integrity are not their concern as I was lied to on several occasions. Contacting their "insurance company" is not a concern as they never gave me any opportunity to share my events with the company or an adjuster. The negligence of their employees is not their concern as it not only damaged my vehicle, but could have done catastrophic damage to other innocent travelers. My safety and that of my family is not their concern. It is clear that nothing they say, do, or imply is of any concern. I understand mistakes can happen. I have never one time indicated that I would sue, take action with Honda, or even raised my voice. All I asked was that they simply take responsibility for the mistake, and make me whole. I feel this is a simple and civil request. Additionally, there are several Basney family members "operating" the dealership daily. Not an apology, no refund of my paid services, not a phone call, not an email from anyone who's name is on the sign. I would like you to take away two things. First, God is good and kept my brother and I alive. Second DO NOT visit Basney Honda for any reason. Let my poor experience be a learning experience for you. Basney does not care about your health, time, or your vehicle. Attached are a picture of my invoice from the service, the body shop estimate, the police report, and of the damage caused by the wheel and tire coming off. I'm upside down on my SUV, want to lease an Odyssey, and want my payment to be lower. He asks how much I owe on the Durango, then looks up the value, and comes back to me. Do not buy a car from Basney Honda in Mishawaka. We bought this Dec 2018 30,000 extended warranty. It has been in the shop 5 times starting 3 days after we bought it. They kept it once for 6 weeks. Now it needs to go in again. They do not return my call to service the vehicle. The seatbelts are lac and the dash computer and lane stabilization do not work. If it was new they would have to take to back under IN Lemon Law. My daughter's car was having problems with the a/c. The folks at Basney gave me an initial quote to replace the a/c compressor which was reasonable compared to other prices I checked. Since we live several hundred miles away, I authorized the repair. When my daughter went to pick up the car, she was pleased to find out that Basney checked and found that the a/c was covered under a recall and the repair was free! Now, true, they could have researched this and told us before the initial quote, but I must admit that they also could have charged me for the repair and I would never have known about the recall. Had an amazing experience leasing an accord from salesman, Bob Briney. Car shopping and the whole experience of buying/leasing is probably my least favorite thing to do. He made it quick, easy and painless, he knew the answer to every one of my questions and offered a lot of helpful and beneficial information that I would never have even know about or thought of. There's nothing that I hate more than having to wait 30 minutes, every 10 minutes for a salesperson to go talk to their manager or "find out" something. There was none of that, which more than refreshing. As a matter of fact, throughout the process, I only visited the dealership twice and never spent more than an hour there each time (including my test drive and actually signing the paperwork). Bob did a great job getting me exactly what I wanted for exactly what I was wanted to spend. No drama, no stress, no excess waiting and no run-around. My husband and I are in the process of rebuilding our credit after a lengthy layoff and home foreclosure three years ago. I am in need of a new car and really wanted a Honda Civic. To avoid wasting a sales person's time, I thought I would call first. I gave the sales person all of my information and he promised to call me back that evening. It's now been almost a week and three phone calls and messages from me later and I still haven't heard back from him. If it was/is a credit issue, I would have appreciated a phone call back to let me know and I would have looked into other options such as a cosigner or obtaining a loan on my own from a credit union or my bank. Worst customer service on earth, rude behavior, unskilled technicians and over prices. I serviced my car on 07/24/2105 with over $500 total payment and they did not even provide me a courtesy car. When I requested them to pick me up after the service was done, I was told that a waiting time is 3 hrs. How rude? About their skills: I serviced my car while I was relocating to San Diego hoping that there won't by any problem driving from South Bend to San Diego. Unfortunately, I heard a metal rattling noise underneath the car which I never heard ever since I had the car. I had to fix that problem at Lincoln, Nebraska; that's very annoying. Had to take my honda civic in today due to a safety recall. I would normally never go to a dealership to get anything fixed on my car, but this being a safety recall, had no choice. Basney Honda proved to me that I should never take my car to a dealership as long as I can help it. Over the phone, while making the appointment, I was told that they would need my car for about an hour and a half. I gladly waited in the waiting room, which did have free drinks/snacks, thinking that I would be out of there around 11am since my appointment was at 9:30am. People came and went while I sat there waiting... And waiting... And waiting... I WAITED FOR OVER 3 HOURS. When I was finally told that my car was ready, I asked the man what had taken so long. He tried explaining that the process takes a "couple hours" even though I was told an hour and a half. I wasted so much time in that place. I didn't have any issue with payment or them trying to push services on me, which was nice. However, I was handed a paper that had a page long list of what was "wrong" with my car. No wonder it took so long, they did a FULL DIAGNOSTIC when I hadn't even asked them too. I was told I needed to change the timing belt and spark plugs, I had those replaced last year. Nice try. Not only did they assume I needed work done that was already finished, they wanted to charge me $200 for a spark plug change that I had paid $50 for last year. So nice of them to try and rob me. I could write out an entire list of unnecessary things that are a "caution" and should get fixed. But I won't waste our time. Needless to say, they wanted to charge me $80 for some stupid cosmetic fix that they considered a "caution" and almost $50 for new windshield wipers because they were "streaky". Seriously...? I'm aware that I can purchase windsheild wipers for $20 or less and install them myself. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. Don't give them you're money and don't let them waste your time. Find a good local mechanic, the majority of them will not try to rob you of your money and lie to you about service that needs to get done on your car. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY. read more

This is the second Honda dealer I've used recently and I'm pleased with their parts prices and service department so far. Basney explained that their prices for parts and labor should be comparable to other dealers but for some reason, Basney was about 20% cheaper than another dealer about 40 miles away where I live. They were also cheaper on the labor by about 30%. I'm a diy-er and had tried to replace a wheel speed sensor myself but it broke, I couldn't get the old one out and they had to finish the job. The labor price was reasonable, not any more expensive then if I would have taken it there in the first place, even though I probably made it harder on the service tech to remove the old part from the vehicle. I received a quote from them for a Honda Odyssey that was $2,000 lower than anywhere else. I thought, wow, great deal. I emailed the next day to move forward with it, only to be told by the salesperson that that quote was a mistake and there was no way he would be able to honor it. The new quote he provided was $1,500 more than the other dealership we had spoken to. I can understand that someone can make a miscalculation, but a miscalculation this big should have been easy to spot before handing it over to the customer.
