I had a major problem with my car which was causing a lot of noise and problems. I had never gone to them but they were highly recommended. Our van broke down going from Minneapolis to Maine. We took a gamble and had the van towed to A-Plus Auto Service. I imagine everyone's heard horror tales of breaking down while traveling and paying twice as much, or more, to get back on the road. I remember losing a wiper in the 1980's somewhere in Wisconsin and paying $20, when they ran a couple bucks at the time. I'm happy to report A-Plus didn't take advantage of us, in fact, I believe they charged less then it would have cost us back home. They had us on the road the same day and even threw in free window wipers! The staff was extremely friendly and both my wife and I were overjoyed that they went out of their way to get the van fixed quickly. I highly recommend their service to anyone who is in that area. I've been going to A-Plus for about five years now. The people are friendly, but I have had now two issues that were unresolved at A-Plus that were fixed by other mechanics. The first had to do with my axle, which emitted a strange sound after I had my brakes changed at A-Plus a few years ago; I was told the sound would go away. It never did. It turned out that there were parts that needed replacing that I only found out about at another local mechanic. The second had to do with my power steering. I was having issues with stiffness of the wheel and was told by A-Plus that my pump needed to be replaced. So I had that done. The problem remained and I took my car back to A-Plus at least four additional times (I would have gone elsewhere except the pump was under warranty at A-Plus). Each time the problem was not fixed. The last time I took my car back for power steering issues (about two months ago) I was finally told that the problem was not the power steering pump but that my car was too old and it would require a much more expensive fix (they gave me an estimate of about $1400). Well, I just got my power steering fixed for $5 on my own; the o-ring on my power steering just needed to be replaced. In any case, I am typically reluctant to post a negative review, but I thought the two issues were serious enough to warrant a post so that others are at least aware. read more

Not from around here. Found A-Plus on Yelp. Called about 10:30 AM they helped with getting the vehicle towed. They diagnosed the problem, replaced the defective part ONLY. I picked it up the same afternoon. Price was less than I expected. If I lived here this is the only place I would go for repair. read more

To be honest, I first went to this auto garage because the owner also pictures his wife on his advertisements. I figured that any man who respects his wife that much would not let his mechanics be cruel, belittle, or lie to female customers. The owner and the manager are really nice men. They explain everything they are doing, which shows me that the process need not be a mystery and that they do not assume I know zip about cars. I was even offered a ride home one day when my car would have to stay at the shop over night. I only lived a mile away and was going to walk, but it was almost 100 degrees outside. There are only two things I wish were a little different: I wish the price of the oil change included the shop costs and the waste disposal (but I think doing it the way A-Plus Auto does is normal in the industry) and I wish that using the diagnostic tool didn't cost so much. Places like Auto Zone use a similar tool for free, though it isn't as specific. This also might be normal in the industry, but I always feel funny about a diagnosis tool that costs $50-$60 to use and then find it's a $7 part, for example. Overall, A PLUS! read more

Stellar service. I'm new to the area and needed help changing my license plate (it was wrenched in place with a blanket of rust). The folks at A-Plus helped change my plate AND didn't charge me. I offered--multiple times--to pay for the work, but they kept telling me it wasn't needed. They were kind, efficient, and I'll be coming back for all my car needs going forward. I had a cherokee that was sluggish to start and thought it was either the battery or alternator. I picked A-1 because they were close to work and had a few good reviews. After dropping off my jeep Mike the manager called and told me it was my starter and quoted me a fair price. It was finished before I finished work and I was charged what Mike quoted me. No surprises except I also asked them to find out why my horn had quit working. Mike said it was a bad ground and they fixed it at no charge. I'd use them again in the future. read more

My husband stopped in with our 2010 BMW 335 diesel for an emergency oil change. The owner personally drove to his parts supplier to pick up the specialty oil & filters required for this vehicle while I waited. Great customer service - highly recommend this business. Rick (the owner) and Mike (manager) and the rest of the mechanic team are the best!!! My battery light came on Thursday right as I was on my way to run an errand. I immediately turned around and came home in fear of the car dying in the middle of an intersection. I called Mike first thing Friday morning and told him what happened and he said bring it in at 10am and he will have someone bring me home. He said they were a technician short but they will fit me in. Rick and Mike know my husband is disabled with health issues and me without a car can be serious. They went above customer service and got my vehicle repaired immediately. Rick also came by to pick me to get my car. We've been going to A-Plus Auto Service for nearly 10 years and we will continue to be their customers. My husband and I highly recommend them - they are honest and they stand behind their work.
