I ordered a custom ice cream cake for my fiancé's birthday--paid extra to have a custom image printed on it--and followed their requirement of placing the order at least 48 hours in advance. Pick-up day comes, and I'm handed a completely blank cake. When I asked what happened to the image I paid for, the employee shrugged and said, "uhhh I don't know, I think our printer is broken or something." So for two whole days, no one thought it would be a good idea to let me know the image couldn't be printed? No call, no text, no email--nothing. Trying to salvage the situation, I asked if they could at least write a simple "Happy Birthday" or my fiancé's age on the cake. The response? "Sorry, we can't do that until Wednesday, our decorator isn't here." Seriously? Writing a few words requires a specialist that's unavailable for three more days? I even asked if they had any "Happy Birthday" signs or decorations to throw on top of the cake. Nope--nothing. No help. No apology. No solution. These creations are so cute! For just $3.69 get a large scoop of your choice of icecream, choose from creamy icecream options with cookies, chocolate, caramel and more! Then it's your choice of a mermaid or unicorn creature. I took my Unicorn treat to-go. Service was quick and my treat was topped with sprinkles and a mermaid tail piece of white chocolate. It happened today. I drove 3 miles to buy a few scoops of ice cream for my kid, who was hollering constantly. I arrived at the store at 9:55, knowing they were supposed to be open until ten, as I had previously checked their hours. It would have taken just 2 minutes to process my order, but they shut the door and said they were already closed. Yum yum, I have always been a big fan of Baskin-Robbin's Golden Medal Ribbon since its inception date of 1979, a concoction of Vanilla-flavored and Chocolate ice creams with a caramel ribbon throughout. Came here after getting pizza next door (at Pieology). There were several people ahead of us, but the line moved quickly. Service was good and there is a huge selection. My god daughter got a "wild and reckless" sherbet. She let me try some, it was good, just a tad bit sweet for my tastes. Only thing I didn't like was that every table in the place was dirty, that's why I knocked off a half star. I understand it's an ice cream shop and there are a ton of families with kids that come in, but during down time I'd expect some sort of attempt at cleanliness. I really like this location. The workers here are very helpful and nice the customer service is awesome. I've ordered custom cakes here and they come out beautiful. They are decorated with so much care and time, thank you for the effort. This is one of the best Boston Robbins in San Diego. They are so accommodating. They even accepted a special request on the cake that I thought they might not. I just love the ice cream cakes here. You could choose from so many flavor options. Of course whenever we come here to order cakes we get our ice cream fix. There's so many flavors to choose home and everything taste so good. I love getting the Sundays here. This is definitely a mixed bag - first of all, we came on the 31st, which means that you get up to 3 scoops of ice cream for $1.31 per scoop. Let me tell you - even the homeless people were jumping on that deal. The ratio of soccer moms to pregnant moms to homeless people in line was an astounding 3:2:2. The only other place where the homeless is going to be stacking up that competitively is the recycle center. Ok, that sounded much funnier in my head. The biggest bug-a-boo for me is that there was literally one person working the scooper and the cash register together. I'm pretty sure on the 31st of any month, there should be a minimum of 2-3 people working the after dinner rush. There were at least 12 people in line. The line wrapped around almost to the door and once you got past the register in the 2nd half of the line, it was like 100 degrees from the hot air that the fan was blowing out on the freezer. The line was literally nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot moving at allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. I was sweating. The baby was sweating. Everyone was starting to get cranky. At the end of the day, you can't go wrong for $1.31. I'm guessing that when it's full price, a random Tuesday in January is not nearly as busy. This location probably sees some good action though with Pieology and 85 degrees right next door.
