An update on an earlier review, three weeks ago I went in here to buy a half gallon of ice cream and after the purchase, it was discovered I'd purchased the wrong ice cream because it was mislabeled. And they were unable to refund my money. Now, three weeks later, I've never received my refund. I've been back to the store twice. Horrible! I walked up at 11:15, I was standing outside the door while the worker looked at me and turned back around and did not open the door. I knocked on the door and pointed at my wrist trying to ask what time they open (door says 11), both workers looked and turned right back around again. The manager from the shop next door came outside and was telling them "11 guys, I'm tired of telling you that!". So clearly that's is what this place does. I mean... it's Baskin! How can you NOT love this classic ice cream spot?! What sets this location apart from the others for me is the great service and cleanliness. Came here with a friend for a sweet treat after doing some wine tasting in the area, and it did not disappoint. The gentlemen working behind the counter were super sweet and helpful. During COVID, they aren't doing any samples but if you've been to Baskin, you should already know what your faves are. My two Baskin faves are Pralines n' cream and Butter Pecan. It's safe to say that Shayla loves her BUTTAH! Buttery ice cream just does something to my lil' soul. I opted for a scoop of Pralines n' Cream and it tasted just as lovely as it always does when I go to any Baskin. Shoutout to the cleaning crew! This place was literally spotless inside. You can definitely tell that they are taking the COVID protocols seriously. The inside is closed for dining, but they have a few tables out front where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream. And this is precisely what my friend and I did. It was nice to escape the busy crowds from downtown and to just chill and enjoy some ice cream. I would've eaten my calories at McDonald's if I would've known my ice cream was going to be disgusting. It was my first time coming to this location, and the experience was awful. First of of all, the young man who attended us seems like he did not want to be there. He was obviously going through something because he had a bad attitude and didn't care to listen to what I wanted. For example, I said "everything but the cherry" and then he proceeded to put a cherry on top of my sundae. Another example is my boyfriend asked, "do you have waffle cups" and the young man said yes, walked away, and proceeded to scoop his ice cream in a waffle CONE. Secondly, the quality of my brownie sundae did not reach my expectations. The brownie was hard like a hockey puck, bland and dry. My plastic spoon couldn't even break apart the brownie. Furthermore, the young man scooped hot fudge like there's no tomorrow. My sundae was 90% hot fudge, 10% sundae. Every bite was just overpowering with hot fudge. I will not be coming back to this location. The energy upon arrival was definitely off putting. The ambiance in this ice cream shop did not feel welcoming. I brought my granddaughter in to the store, we had just come from dinner. It is her 4th birthday and we had celebrated on the weekend. As we were waiting our turn, I noticed that one of the young girls working was pulling many of the containers of ice cream and taking them to the back. I was curious as to why she was doing this with an hour and change left before closing. What if I wanted the flavor she removed?? Well, as it turns out, my daughter in law did want a flavor that had been taken to the back. The other girl though was the one helping us and told us that this flavor was not available. It literally had been there not 2 minutes before!! So we knew it was available!! My daughter in law called her out on the lie and insisted that she go get the ice cream. The worker had the audacity to pick another flavor, but my daughter in law wouldn't. These girls just wanted to close early, to make their closing easy. They were also not keeping the temps high enough in the freezer to keep the ice cream solid, it was very mushy. When we went to pay, my little granddaughter, oblivious to the "drama" said sweetly to the girl taking our money, "It's my birthday" and she smiled at her. She even said it twice. Do you know what this girl said back to her??? Nothing at all!! I was thinking.... wow, some things just can't be taught. Good costumer service is certainly not to be had here. My father owns one of the most successful Cold Stone Creamerys in soCal. Do you know why it is so successful?? It's not the fanciest store. It's quite small. It's not updated. It's because his employees are extremely friendly. They go above and beyond on customer service. They take pride in their store. This is something that the owners of this site need to look hard at when they do their hiring. I'll never come back after this extremely rude behavior and subpar product quality. I also used to LOVE their cakes. I bought one for my birthday from this store and was surprised how dry and bland it was. I am sure the store manager did not think the store would get so very busy on a Friday night, but dang, it was bad! There were only 2 workers, one was working solely on mobile orders. We were 4th and 5th in line, so we were lucky. It only took about 10 minutes, but the gal was doing her best. But I asked for a sauce, and she literally sprinkled a tiny bit on. I asked for more and she said no. I'm not paying extra for like a tablespoon of sauce! I couldn't even taste it on the ice cream. No joke, by the time we left there were 21 people in line, and the girl was on her own to work with all of these people due to the other person focusing on mobile orders. We sat in the car to eat and watched about 5 people park, get out of the car, and turn around the second they saw the line from outside. I haven't been in a Baskin Robbins in about 5 years - just about the time I became vegan! As I was leaving my massage this afternoon, preparing for another hot day in Napa, I noticed the Baskin Robbins. I wandered in and was immediately greeted by Troy, who is the store owner. He showed me the non-dairy options and encouraged me to try as many as I'd like. I tasted the watermelon which was sweet, refreshing & to my surprise contained edible little watermelon seeds. How cute! It is made with soy rather than just fruit so it has a nice creamy texture. I tried the Daiquiri Ice next which would have been my favorite it I hadn't tried the watermelon I had a small sugar cone and it was a big generous scoop of deliciousness! The non-dairy options alternate depending on what is in season. Stephanie is the store manager and she is also in charge of creating all of their ice cream cakes. Any of their option, including the non-dairy options, can be used to create a cake. They even make a cake that looks like a slice of watermelon - rind and all! I'm so glad I stopped in.
