For vegans who don't know, Baskin-Robbins carries one vegan flavor of ice cream. I think they might have a sorbet as well, but I'm in it for the creaminess! This location on the ground floor of the Sheraton Waikiki is my favorite spot. I like to walk Kalakaua to get a little exercise and people watch, then stop by the Baskin Robbins for a dessert and walk along the ocean side of the hotel to take in the views or go for a swim. They are often busy and always friendly. I miss the vegan mint chocolate chip flavor, since that's been my favorite since childhood and going to BR to get it feels nostalgic. However, they've had Cookies 'N Cream for a year or so, and it's delicious too! I'm pretty sure corporate sets the vegan flavor for all stores, so that's not up to this location. One of the few remaining accessible "late night" dessert stops in town. The last few years have caused many businesses to cut back on hours and it seems there's a refusal to go back to "late night" hours. As I've said before, there are still a ton of people who eat late dinners and want an event later dessert! A 10:00 PM close time can hardly be defined as "late night", but here we are struggling to find a dessert place on a week day that's opened past 8:00 PM. Anyways, my partner and I came a few days ago to BR on a week night and it was my first time in years revisiting a BR. After this visit, I'm going to have to add BR back into my rotation of spots to hit up! Parking is easy peasy. There's a private lot with parking and ample street parking along King Street. The store is tidy, clean and well lit. I think the store might've gone through a relatively recent renovation, but it's SO clean. I only wish there was more tables and chairs for dining in and a trash can outside for those of us who need to eat near our cars because there's no available seating. I have not been here since probably 2018. They have updated the interior so it looks refreshed. They were quick to greet me on both occasions when I went. The first time I ordered two scoops of ice cream and they were delish. I hadn't had their ice cream in so long and packed ones at the grocery just aren't the same. On my next adventure, I had a two scoop sundae. It tasted good, but it was dinky for $7. I forgot the scoops are smaller for the sundae, but the fudge was good. This Baskin Robin's in located in Sheraton Waikiki hotel nearest to their pools. Walk past past escalators leading to the ballroom and you'll find this ice cream shop in its own corner. They have their own prices and not typical Baskin Robin prices which is why my family always loved coming here after walking around Waikiki. However, with this one visit it honestly ruined it all for me. We came in on a Saturday night after dinner and there were 5 people inside the store. With COVID pandemic restrictions they have a sign near the entrance no more than 5 people in the shop at a time which I truly respect. However after I entered this whole COVID protocol didn't seem to matter as they had a rush and there were NO SOCIAL DISTANCING whatsoever! I had tourists literally 6 inches away from me looking at ice cream flavors trying to decide what they wanted to eat. Non of the employees acknowledged the fact their shop was over crowded nor respected the safety for their other customers. Besides that whole freak of our safety with COVID, they screwed up my order too. We ordered a brownie sundae with rocky road and Jamaica almond fudge and a single scoop of cookies n cream. Those are my boyfriend's and son's go to! However all I ordered was a medium Jamoca and what - a - fail. First of all the employee didn't even make enough shake to fill my cup. There was about 1 inch gab from the top of the shake to my lid and she kept trying to scrape out all the minimal excess from the blender bowl and had the audacity to give me the shake like that! The owner Rina let us sample as many flavors as we wanted before deciding what to get, and gave us some warm fresh baked waffle cone pieces to try. Ordered portions were extremely generous. There are a few tables to sit and eat at, though since it's located in the Sheraton I imagine a lot of people grab and go to lie by the pool outside or on the beach. On the patio area are some game tables for people to play at too. As for flavors, it's Baskin Robbins, so plenty to choose from. You would expect, that being in the Sheraton, the prices here might be a bit expensive but it isn't - seriously...the TCBY in Makiki charges triple what BR is and you know that the product is likely fresher here. During a recent stay within the hotel, we visited once. Counter service was friendly and patient as we roamed back and forth trying to decide on our flavors - 2 hot fudge sundaes cost about $14.00 (i think it was $6.25 each + tax).
