This multi-generation restaurant is an absolute neighborhood gem! It's super small and intimate, and is like being an invited guest to dine in the chef's kitchen. Third time here and always awesome. Jeremey our server tonight was delightful. Make a reservation as the restaurant is very small and very popular with locals.

Came here on a date with my boyfriend after a night out. We honestly found this place on accident. The staff was so kind and did inform us that there was a prefixed menu ,but we're still welcomed to order from the regular menu as well. We came during raclette night. Server made sure we were constantly happy and really took care of us. Such a special place for a quite intimate date night.

I came here with my pseudo adoptive father on a calm Thursday night in September - we had no reservation but were easily able to get an outdoor table. They were kind enough to have a heater above to keep us warm! I forgot to take a picture, but in addition to the coq au vin and the vegetarian dish (I think it was risotto) we also ordered a charcuterie board, which was super lovely. The food itself was alright - I got flavor fatigue pretty quickly with the coq au vin but the noodle texture was splendid. Overall, a decent experience if you're looking for a semi fancy dinner at Balboa. One odd note is that the young male server for some reason deliberately kept avoiding eye contact with me which was a little awkward, but he was amiable and helpful besides that.

My husband and I visited Balboa Island for a spontaneous getaway, and we landed on our eyes on this restaurant for dinner. They prefer for guests to make reservations to ensure seating availability, but luckily, we arrived right as they opened and they had 1 table left available. We had to be shuffled around a bit because the table we initially sat at was reserved for regulars of the restaurant. It was no problem for us to be moved around since they accommodated our last minute seating, but be aware this could happen. However, the service was wonderful and there were many apologies about the shuffling which is why we were not offended nor frustrated with being moved around a bit. They had a great selection of specialties from which we chose the Mushroom & Spinach soup (not pictured). We also got bread and butter on the side ($7), that came out fresh and hot (still steamy)! The butter had coarse salt coated on top yet didn't taste overly salty, and left us very impressed. Dipping the buttered bread in the mushroom & spinach soup was divine. The soup itself having an excellent flavor profile as is (vegetables grown in house, and explicitly stated by server!). We then ordered the rack of lamb & oven roasted duck breast, which were both excellent. Both had a unique flavor (ordered as medium rare). While we enjoyed both immensely, we agreed that the duck was just superb, so we highly recommend getting it. My only critique would be for the rack of lamb to have a bit more char on the outside for additional texture. Overall, we are planning on visiting again in the future. We look forward to trying out different items on the menu and will get dessert next time as well.

Fabulous food selections ! Great flavor in every dish. Cheese platter is a nice way to start out with a couple of Kir Royals. Swiss onion has a nice ,flavorful broth, delicate onions and toasted bread. My wife had the fish special and I had the steak. Service is not rushed at all, and very attentive. This is a small, quaint restaurant that has the feel of being in Switzerland. One of the best wine selections in town, from new world to old world, if you cannot decide, just ask.

This restaurant is a gem for French and Swiss cuisine enthusiast! Their All You Can Eat Raclette night is a must-try, offering an authentic experience that will leave you craving for more! Atleast I do Be sure to call ahead and inquire about their schedule, as it's usually held on the first Tuesday of the month only and sometimes they might also extend it. This family-owned establishment boasts a cozy yet elegant atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening out or with friends! With a focus on fine dining, seating is limited, so reservations are a must and call ahead and ask them for availability. The service is impeccable, and the food is simply amazing!!! If you're a cheese lover as much as I do, the raclette experience is tailored just for you! Their traditional French and Swiss dishes, such as Beef Bourguignon, are cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant for its exceptional cuisine and warm ambiance!!!

Went here for a Friday date night. Did al fresco due to limited seating inside. The prix fixe menu was nice. The sauces that accompanied the entrees elevated the courses. With the cold night, the soupy dishes were quite comforting. The dessert trio was good, although we thought one of them was a little dry. Service was quick and efficient. Street parking is decent, but I can see how it could be difficult on a busier night.

    Blue crab salad

We'd been wanting to try this restaurant for years and finally did. What a charming ambiance and wonderful food! We had the signature veal in mushroom sauce, duck breast, beef bourguignon, blue crab salad and of course, raclette. Everything was delicious, fresh and tres European. And the service was very gracious. We loved it and look forward to going back! Highly recommend!

Sweet little dining room with 9 tables. Reservations are recommended.

When booking, I had the option of dining , chef's table, or patio seating. I specifically chose the dining since my daughter loves creating content, and the indoor ambiance is absolutely beautiful for photos. The hostess seated us on the patio, and I mentioned that I had selected dining. I was told that seating is based on first availability, which was a little disappointing, especially since the restaurant is right on the water and by 7:30 PM it was getting pretty chilly. While they do have heaters outside, sitting in gusty winds with the smell of gas (especially after a fresh trip to the hairdresser!) just wasn't ideal. My daughter went back to the car to grab a blanket. Thankfully, the hostess noticed my discomfort and came back shortly after saying, "Donna, we have another table further down that's out of the wind and under a heat lamp." That small gesture made a big difference, and honestly, that's when the experience started to turn around. From there, things only got better. When our entrées arrived, our waiter Nick realized we had never received our appetizers. Without hesitation, he assured us he would make it right, and he absolutely did. He brought out a selection of cheeses for us to sample, which led to us ordering a caviar bump paired with champagne (highly recommend!). To top it all off, he surprised my daughter with olive cake and fresh berries to celebrate her birthday. Such a thoughtful touch. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Not just because the food was amazing, but because of the attention to detail and how seriously they take the overall dining experience. Parking is available in a nearby garage, and they validate the first 90 minutes, which is a nice bonus.

Yesterday, I came here for my birthday lunch with my mom after she made a reservation, and honestly, I wish we had just gone somewhere else. We sat down right at our 1:00 reservation and then waited 35 minutes just to get a drink menu. Not food. Not to order. Just the menu for drinks. After we finally ordered, the champagne showed up about 20 minutes later. It was served in wine glasses, which feels like basic wine bar knowledge, but apparently not here. When we asked to switch them to champagne glasses, the waiter brought out smaller wine glasses. Not exactly good etiquette for a place that leans so heavily on its bar concept. The whipped ricotta appetizer came out even later, around the 65 minute mark. As an appetizer. It was fine, probably the best thing we had, but "fine" after that kind of wait is not a positive. From there, everything just dragged. It took almost an hour for my mom's meatballs to come out, and when they did, they were raw. Not slightly underdone. Fully pink in the middle. She sent them back and was so turned off she didn't even want to eat anything else. I ordered a salad and specifically asked for light dressing. What I got was the opposite. It was drenched in a thick, heavy dressing that made the whole thing borderline inedible and the lettuce soggy. After our food, I tried to order drip coffee, which they didn't have, so I settled for an Americano. I asked for warm cream, which I've had done at plenty of places, and somehow it came out clotted. If you know anything about coffee, that shouldn't happen. At this point, we had been there for over two and a half hours. For a salad, an appetizer, and four raw meatballs. The server was very nice and doing his best with being busy. BUT, the overall operation felt completely disorganized and untrained. We weren't the only ones either. The couple next to us was also complaining after waiting 40 minutes just to order breakfast items. To make it even better, parking is only comped for 90 minutes. So because of their slow service, we ended up paying for parking on top of overpriced, underwhelming food. What should have been a 45 minute lunch turned into a 2.5 hour ordeal. The bathroom also wasn't clean either time I went, which pretty much sums up the lack of attention to detail across the board. The only slightly redeeming part was the crème brûlée, which was... fine. Not amazing. Just fine. It's a pretty space. I'll give them that. But that's about where the positives end. The food is not good, the timing is unacceptable, and the whole experience feels like Instagram style over quality and substance. Definitely not worth the money, and not somewhere I'd ever go back to.

It's waterfront and can be accessed via the boardwalk (it's behind the street-side shops). Parking can be tough and very expensive - you'll likely have to park in the structure and walk over. Make sure to take your ticket with you for validation. Seating is available inside and outside on their covered patio. Plenty of space for parties of all sizes. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to make a same-day reservation for a Sunday afternoon. They had plenty of open seating even when we got there. Tables were very dirty. They have a lot of work to do - it seems like months if not years of food, dust, and salty moist air mixed together and collected in the and creases in the tables, on the walls, etc.. It's like a sticky gross residue that never gets completely clean. Many people like to dress nice in the area but honestly I would hate to wear something nice here out of fear it would get dirty. We also required new plates as ours had old food stuck to them. Service was not great. Our waiter was somewhat attentive but not nice - the poor guy seemed miserable like he hated his job and did not want to be there. Despite the restaurant being full, he wouldn't come by often when we actually needed something - he even disappeared towards the end and a new waiter had to help us. Food is delicious. Besides the location, their saving grace. We tried the sandwiches and yummy! Fries were also delicious with the spicy mayo. Love the different options they have, overall. They also had some great looking food on the brunch and drinks section of the menu. You can scan the QR code at the table to see pictures of each menu item. Overall was good and we'll be back every once in a while because we love Lido. Will try sitting inside in hopes the tables are decent. Really hope management makes some improvements though!

I ordered the house margarita and it was better than expected. I usually opt for wine here. The salmon was delicious and the yogurt sauce really set it off. Perfect portion, fresh, and overall a great guilt-free option. The bolognese wasn't my favorite dish, it lacked protein, but the sauce was tasty. It is also a spot for celebrating special occasions. They usually have special menus for holidays. I tried a three-course prix fixe dinner with salad (good size), steak, and dessert. It was $70 and I felt it's quite worth the price. Given today's price levels, I think this place is "affordable high-end dining" - where you do spend more than usual, but the food and experience are rewarding. Certainly seafood is one of their specialties, however, we do like their steak and pork. Parking in this area is very difficult. The only option is to park in the Lido garage.
