I have been waiting for Basil Ginger to open for months and I must admit it was well worth the wait. Alaska has been really missing a quality sushi joint and Basil Ginger has fixed that. David D. And I shared the Mongolian Beef dinner that comes with four pieces of a California roll with REAL crab, none of that fake krab garbage. We chose wonton soup as our soup and it was nothing special. The Mongolian beef was excellently seasoned. The California roll answered my cravings since I last visited my dear Oto Sushi in Kirkland, Wa. We also had the jioaz dumplings which are very reminiscent of Oto"s dumplings. I can express how happy I am that Basil Ginger is here in Wasilla. The sushi chef is also happy to make things not on the menu. I asked for a dragon roll and they were happy to create one for me. I think I have a new favorite restaurant!! read more

Brand new high end restaurant in brand new building. Very conveniently located by Home Depot on the other side of Body renew. They serve high end Asian cuisines including Thai, Chinese, Sushi, Nigiri, Sashimi but also have Stakes, soups, noodles, lamb, seafood and much more. Menu is very rich with many selections. Basil ginger also has designated sushi chief, and Thai food cook. Really nice sushi bar with Tv's and drinks on tap. Try their Sashimi summer roll for appetizer it has tuna and salmon and very tasty peanut sauce. Everything is very good on main menu, but Royal Halibut under House Specials is a very tasty and full of flavor dish and Basil stir fry ka-pao in beef, you will be very pleased with your order. This is not cheap or low budget restaraunt, so don't compare prices with panda express or buffet, but quality of the food and service is very well worth it. read more

I don't get the hype on this place. Maybe my expectations were too high because it looks so nice on the inside and I was so excited to have another sushi option in the valley. It's been a awhile since I've been here but I've been at least 4 or 5 times and it's just meh. Maybe it's changed but when I first went for sushi it didn't include miso soup or a salad. And the sushi wasn't anything special. Most of the Chinese or Thai dishes that I've tried have been greasy or something just off. I really wanted to like it. read more

Maybe my standards are too high or I ordered the wrong thing, but I wasn't very impressed. The sushi roll I ordered and had modified to exclude all fish (due to pregnancy) is typically great everywhere else was extremely fishy tasting and in my opinion very overpriced. The seaweed they use was very thick and I didn't care for it at all and I'm wondering if that contributed to the fishy taste? The roll was very large and that could possibly justify the price (although it didn't come with any miso soup or salad like most places) but the flavor was not what I was expecting, and was therefor disappointed. I will say that the appetizer we ordered (chicken lettuce wraps) were pretty good, and it basically turned into my main dish so I wouldn't go completely hungry. Made a trip up to Wasilla and was looking for something good to try so I asked a friend and she recommended Basil Ginger. I have to be honest, this place isn't what I expected, it was much better! We entered the beautiful restaurant and was seated immediately. The hostess also brought water over for us while we checked out the menu. I settled on the beef w/ broccoli, she got the miso soup and sesame chicken with Cali roll and the kid had the larger portion Cali roll. The beef with broccoli may be the best I've ever had. It had nice, large pieces of beef, fresh vegs and rice. Perfect taste and a huge portion. Her miso soup was wonderful according to her. The sesame chicken was very tasty and again had huge pieces of chicken. They both said their Cali rolls were really good as well. The staff were all really helpful and present for anything we needed. The place was really clean and well decorated. It is a bit pricey, we spent a little over $60 for lunch, with the tip, but the environment and food made it worth the extra money. Wow. This was our first time here and it is delicious. The servings are large & service is quick. I had the shrimp with snap peas w/ white rice. My hubby had the lo mien & colossal prawns. Such an outstanding restaurant! The care with which the food was prepared and presented left no doubt that we were in for an amazing culinary experience. The serve staff is attentive, and the owner came by frequently to check in on us while we were eating. That intimate care says a lot about the restaurant's quality. The egg rolls and potstickers were so tasty with a complex dipping sauce to bring out all flavors consistently. One dish was ordered as a result of dietary needs (strict GF &DF): the Thai basil beef. The meat had maximum tenderness as it had clearly been marinated with care. The rice was perfect, and the medley of vegetables and spices made this a spectacular choice while preserving specific dietary needs. One more note: when we arrived at the restaurant shortly after it opened, it was already full. That says a lot! Great job, Basil Ginger! read more

Basil Ginger is a beautiful little asian restaurant. It's very clean and sophisticated. The service was great. The lunch combo portions are Alaskan size. The General Tso and Sesame Chicken sauces were delicious. The egg rolls were super hot and fresh. I think I could drink the egg roll dipping sauce. We ordered edamame as an appetizer. It was probably the largest order of edamame I have ever seen. The only complaint I have is, the chicken has a very strange texture in all 3 dishes including the chicken lo mein. The spicy tuna roll was good. I would recommend this little place, if you are in the area. Overall, the price was fair too! read more

What a nice find in Wasilla. The many has choices that include Chinese, Siam, and sushi. The jaiozi dumplings looked and tasted homemade. The flavors were quite nice and the dipping sauce seemed to have some tamarind in it (or it was tinted yellow). Delish. We weren't that hungry so we just had some soup and sushimi but it was great. Hip Asian in...WASILLA? It seems to be so! Mrs. B. and I wanted to grab a nice Sunday lunch someplace that we hadn't been before. Basil Ginger popped up on the radar in Wasilla and look like they were getting some traction. It was a very good call. We got there at 11:30 AM on a Sunday and it was at about 40% capacity. We were greeted, seated, welcomed and watered in nothing flat. The menu had quite a bit offer in several different combinations from several different regions of Asia. How are server knew the menu inside and out and was able to help us navigate and understand the way the different sections were put together. We were also informed that the portions would be ample to share, this was not an understatement. I went with the dinner special that included Miso Soup, Penang Curry, and California Roll, $20. Mrs. B went with the Classic Mongolian Beef $19. Both of us were happy with her meals. There was a lot of care put into the prep work and execution of both dishes. They were plated and presented wonderfully. I am not incredibly familiar with Asian Food but I do know that I love it. I know that I love Penang Curry. I do know that this dish tickled every part of my tongue that I was hoping and expected to be tickled. It was a quiet meal. After being married to Mrs. be for 20+ years, I have found that that sound during meal time is one of happiness and serenity. We were enjoying a truly fantastic meal with truly fantastic company. Both of us were very happy where we were, doing what we were doing, with whom we were doing it with. NASCAR! Yeah, I get it. That doesn't really fit in does it? But that's what they had playing on the TV above the sushi bar. It was about a special of us having your mom drive you to prom. It made a big enough dent that they lost a star for it. Tried this for the first time recently. Ordered two of their house specials (ginger cod and sautéed tiger prawns). The cod was drenched in oil and had no flavor itself. The volume of sauce was too large and most of it was left over even after using all the provided rice. The "sautéed" prawns were breaded and fried and then maybe sautéed in some oil but it was a mess of crunchy prawn skin with little meat. The ahi tuna app was ok but also overly sweetened so as you didn't taste the food, just the toppings. Atmosphere and location were great. Staff was friendly.
