Surprising find. Dont let the outside deter you away. Actually very cute and subtle inside. Good ambiance. Service was quick and nice. No complaints. We were sat quickly, ordered right away and food was out within 15-20mins during lunch hour. There's a shared parking lot with other stores. Food was delicious. Not overly salted or sweetened like many others. Lots of oil but that's expected with Thai food. Good flavors. We only got to try a few dishes so absolutely will be back. Prices are okay, a bit pricier for this particular cuisine but doable. Will be back! Happy eating!

Fast service, even on a busy summer Saturday night. Surprisingly good beer and bev list--something for everyone. Closed sundays and watch for annual break. Large parking lot.

Always awesome! Food and service is impeccable. By far the best food in Applet. The coconut water is a nice touch

A delightful surprise in Appleton! We came for a visit from Madison and are always look for a good Thai restaurant. From the outside this place doesn't look like much -- but don't let that keep you from entering in. This restaurant is obviously loved by its community -- it just got more and more packed as the night went on. The service was warm and friendly, and the food was delicious, fresh, and plentiful. I especially recommend trying their drunken noodles! -- They had that delicious burned wok flavor that you can only find at certain authentic Asian restaurants. YUM!

I had zero confidence in finding any decent vegan food options in Appleton, WI. But after running out of my Chicago leftovers, I was forced to find sustenance here. I searched Yelp and discovered some of the best Asian food that I've ever had. The aroma of whatever magic is brewing in the kitchen hits you as soon as you open the door. But we've all been there. Something smells amazing but falls hella short as soon as it hits your tongue. Luckily, that's not the case here! The smells are a direct prelude to the deliciousness that's served up here. PAD KEE MAO: Ordered with tofu and mixed veggies at spice level 4. BASIL FRIED RICE: Ordered with tofu, no eggs, spice level 4. Both of these dishes are superbly exquisite. I'm talking about a robust burst of exciting flavor in every freaking bite! Sheer excellence! I did buy 2 extra chili garlic sauces ots for $1 each. The dishes didn't need it, but it brought up the spice another notch, which is always nice for me. Basil fried rice is one of my favorite dishes, but most restaurants just serve a bland, watered down rendition. This is seriously the best basil fried rice that I have ever had. Ever! And the Pad Kee Mao is similar to the American-popular Drunken noodles but with wider noodles. Inside is spacious, cozy, and clean. The owners are very nice. Prices are not cheap, but it's worth it. ApplePay is accepted here. I can never see myself saying, "Ooh, I wanna go to Appleton, WI." But I will definitely say, "Ooh I wanna go back to Basil Cafe!"

Worth the drive from Manitowoc. Walked into a clean and artistic dining room and showed to our table by a very nice woman. Coconut infused water was a very nice touch. Our waitperson was friendly and patient with our many questions. The service was top notch throughout our meal. The menu is vegetarian and vegan friendly. Most of the offerings can be made vegan with tofu as the protein. I've never had pho before because it is usually beef based. We had spring rolls that were absolutely delicious. I ordered a vegan pho and my wife had a spicy noodle dish. Our meals were outstanding as was the presentation. You can adjust your heat from one to four, my wife tried 3. She'll go with 4 next time. The owner came by our table for a short chat. Told her we drove 45 miles to eat there. That got a big smile. My minor nit was that the portions were huge. I hated not being able to finish that delicious pho. It was too much for me. If you are looking for a superior dining experience it would behoove you to patronize this wonderful restaurant...enjoy!

Great food all around and a favorite for take out. The restaurant is always full but the most challenging here is finding a place to park.

Will have to figure it out next time because we will be back. There is a deli style counter you walk up to place your order, then find a seat and they bring it to your table. We started with the spring rolls with two sauces, peanut and sweet. They were delicious. We also each had a stuffed chicken wink because they looked so good and wanted to try something not usually on a menu. Not sure how they stuffed them but they were delicious. I had an excellent pho. I am gluten intolerant and probably should not of had the chicken wing but it just had about a 1% gluten in I was told. The gentleman who took our order and brought us our food was knowledgeable and attentive. When I ordered my Thai tea I asked it to be put in a to go cup. Because with our apps I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. As it was I needed two to go containers for my Pho and really enjoyed it for dinner. My combination Pho had lovey perfectly cooked shrimp and sliced beef that had to have been roasted and sliced in-house. At least it tasted like it. I also had several meatball halves too. I would go back for this Pho over and over again. My husband had a curry and he said it was also a 4 star. We try Asian restaurants, mostly Thai, whenever we travel and I hope to be able to come back here when in the area.

There are no kids meals and they offer appetizers that's not on the menu. The meat selections aren't too bad for both types of dinner. They could offer more veggies and (dipping) sauces. The banchons were emptied/low that I didn't pick any. The shaved ice was watery so I didn't have any either. Instead, I opted for the $8 cotton candy machine that was well worth the money. It's huge, airy, and mildly sweet. The server, Weston, was nice, very informative explaining the concept and attentive. We felt very welcoming.

Everything turned out well enough to warrant a future return. There is ample parking for the business. The dining area is nicely configured and many tables were filled when I arrived. The staff greeted me and asked if I would like a seat. Upon saying I'd like take out, I was able to immediately place my order. The restaurant has a large number of Thai offerings. I went with Eggrolls, Chicken Pad Thai and Pork Laab. I waited about 10 minutes for my order. It was nicely packaged for easy carry out. All of the food was good and even as take out, it was hot when we dug in. My dining partner and I both agreed that our dishes could have been spicier. I will remember to ask for more spice on return trips. The eggrolls were flavorful but reminded us of taquitos. There were 3 in the order, which seemed a bit skimpy for the price. In some cases, even without the benefit of half stars, I'll grade up. I didn't in this case. I was told what I owed upon ordering. I paid with bills requiring change to be made. Instead of making change, I was asked "do you want change?" The answer is yes. I understand it is the idea of them keeping it as a tip. I suggest giving me my change and letting me make the tipping decision. That said, I'll go back in the future.

It seemed as if they were making each dish one at a time and without much prep. Perhaps they have gotten more efficient as they figure things out with their new business. Menu is VERY pork forward, which is fine, but vegetarians should know that their entree selections will be extremely limited. Their salad choices seem promising, however. The eggrolls have a very good flavor and the plum dipping sauce is delicious. However, the eggrolls are so tightly packed with pork that the textural experience is somewhat akin to eating a deep-fried hotdog. My Pa Kra Pao was flavorful and juicy. However, it seemed like something that I could have made at home. My date enjoyed her sausage as well, but noted that she largely paid $14 for a single sausage, with the large majority of the dish consisting of plain rice and a fried egg. Not a bad experience overall, but I don't think we feel the need to return soon.
