Was craving burgers...again, and walked by this place on the way home from work. I've been meaning to eat here and finally decided to give it a try. I walked in and it looks like there's a bar inside so I'm confused as to if this is more of a shake shack like place or a bar or...? I ordered the basic cheeseburger and the basic fries that are seasoned. Although it is just a basic burger, it was delicious and fulfilled my craving for burgers. I love that the buns were ever so slightly toasted and their basic sauce wasn't overpowering or slathered on, but just enough to give the burger a bit of extra flavor. I LOVED the fries...something I've realized that I'm pretty picky about. The extra seasoning might be a bit too salty for the average person, but I loved the extra flavor. It tastes a little bit like a mixture of the spices in ramen packets and Steak N Shake seasoning. I also ordered the small fries but I still got a lot...almost couldn't finish them! Price wise, it's a little more expensive than Shake Shack which I assume is because of the quality (100% Angus Beef, heck yes). I almost prefer this place to Shake Shack, although that's partly due to the fact it's within walking distance. Will definitely come back! read more

Quite the Basic Burger. A fine establishment when catching a break from work or the fashion mall. The basic burger had a tender patty on a crisp, brioche bun. The basic sauce tied the burger together for a juicy, delightful bite. The sweet potato fries were very crisp for a sweet, crunchy bite. Pairs well with basic sauce. The atmosphere was quiet for a lunch experience. Relatively inexpensive. A great go-to spot for lunch or dinner. read more

This place is hip, it's modern, it's the kat's pj's. Burger is juicy in all its cow glory. Service was solid. Owner even catered to our soccer watching needs. My only critique is the price. I've had better burgers for less $. All in all, a good place for burger fanatics. read more

Thank you so much for bringing your food truck to our outdoor movie event last night at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. We were so happy to see you and our guests were pleasantly surprised. You people were timely, efficient and professional. I really appreciate them coming out. The food ... the chicken sandwich on your menu that has NO cheese, OMG it is amazing. It has the most simple ingredients except for the sauce which is anything but and totally delicious. I was totally shocked the french fries were some of the best that i have had i loved the seasoning. Thank you so much for coming out . We can not wait to call on you again! read more

Excellent burgers and fries, so-so grilled chicken. The burgers here are really good. Like Shake Shack, BB aims to perfect the fast-food style of burger: thinner patties that are well-seasoned and appear hand-formed, good quality beef with flavor you can actually taste. My top choice is the Great 8: two patties, cheese, tomato, pickles, lettuce and onion, all on a nice brioche roll, cooked fresh to order. Hot, juicy, delicious, reliably good every time I've ordered it. The fries are also very good, particularly the seasoned ones. Fresh, hot and crispy. You'd be crazy to order anything other than a small, because even that must be the equivalent of 2 or 3 large fries from a chain like McDs. The grilled chicken was meh: a bit dry, and in the end, indistinguishable from a grilled chicken sandwich you'd get anywhere else. I guess there's a reason they don't call it Basic Grilled Chicken. The interior is clean, spacious, warm and modern. Service has been friendly and unusually solicitous for a fast-food type place. On several occasions the cashiers have come by to bus my tray - a small thing, but nice, and appreciated. I usually just get water (my lone gesture to healthy eating when I'm here), but they do offer Boylan's sodas and a small selection of craft beers. A Great 8, small fries and bottle of water runs about $16, so if you're price-sensitive, this may not be your place, but if you enjoy a good quality burger every now and then, you'll enjoy BB. read more

Basic Burger - The Great 8 in all its glory, dwarfed by a 'small' order of fries. - Burgers Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Now I know what you're thinking, this place must be BASIC... but don't be too quick to judge. I went for the biggest burger they have, the "Great 8" burger. It has two grass-fed Angus patties topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and their Basic sauce. Now some people don't like a little pink in the middle of their meat, but these are people who are too ignorant to enjoy REAL meat. These are the same people who order their steaks well-done which loses most of the tenderness and flavor. I for one, truly appreciated the texture and quality the burger had to offer. As for taste, I have to admit that it won't satisfy you like a greasy burger from Five Guy's would, but I didn't feel like crap after eating it which is a good thing. Their Basic sauce is more than basic; actually quite addicting. I have yet to try their beer from the bar, but I most likely will in the future. What Basic Burger is basically trying to do is make basic burgers with basic toppings to show you basic people how good basic can be... basically. read more

BLUF: A great burger for a reasonable price with friendly customer service. I remember first seeing this restaurant as a food truck before becoming a brick and mortar. The overall appearance is very clean and modern - we were greeted nicely when we first entered and throughout our dining experience. I got the basic cheeseburger which definitely lived up to the expectations as far as ingredients go. However, the burger exceeded expectations as it definitely epitomized how a great burger should taste! I liked how there was nothing really wasted with making the burger, and how nothing in the burger detracted from the overall quality. It was definitely better than most burgers at other, nicer restaurants. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would definitely come back here again. Can't wait to try something new the next time I come! read more

burgers here are very basic but the price is not. It's too pricey for what you get! $13.75 for a Very small burger and fries. I usually don't finish my burger nor my fries.. But here I cleared my tray and had room for dessert. That shows how small it is. Clearing my tray doesn't mean it was delicious. The burger wasn't really flavorful... The bun was good, the burger patty was very small and thin, a lot of lettuce, one thin sliced tomato and a little bit of grilled onion for an extra 0.65 There are better burgers for the same price or even less I'm giving 2.5 stars read more

Super casual and chill burger spot around the corner from my apartment. I got the basic burger with shoestring fries with Cajun seasoning. I really like the option to sit at the bar grab a glass of Pinot Noir while I wait for my food. Everything came out quickly and I got extra lettuce to eat it as a bare burger (next time I will ditch the buns all together). The bartender is very friendly and I enjoyed my hour break there watching sports while savoring my burger. The beef was fresh and you can tell it's definitely quality meat. I'm very happy to have this fast but not fast-food joint close by, it will be my regular spot from now on! read more

I live right around the corner and had no clue about a new burger place until a friend mentioned it. We walked in on opening night and LOVED the setup. It's a fresh, spacious place. I had a cheeseburger and fried pickles. The burger was greasy and SMALL! I was eating all bun and lettuce. The fried pickles were $7.50, which is pretty pricey for a side. $20 was definitely not worth it here. Super sad that their food wasn't great, it's a really pretty place. Five guys is better and cheaper for more food for your quick go-to burger or Ray's For that gourmet burger. I may go back to try their chicken sandwich, we saw someone's order and it looked to be a decent size. read more

Basic Burger is a low key gem in P City. Their burgers are delicious, including their veggie burger. Their fries are crispy and the fried pickles are awesome! They don't overdo it on the shakes - just classic flavors is all you need. And they have a great bar - Tito's on tap rotating seasonal drinks, frosè and lots of seasonal beers and wines. This place is exactly what it's called - basic burgers. It's fairly cheap, the toppings are very fresh, the buns are toasted, and the burger patty is great. It's not as thick and greasy as Five Guys, but it's much better than someplace like Burger 7 that serves thin/dry patties. The fries are meh - I love sea salt fries so I expected a little more oomph but they taste like run of the mill fries. I love the sodas - no name brands, just their own concoctions like a cola and a lemon berry acai soda. I liked the Basic Sauce. The service was great - quickly brought out our food and staff was friendly. I would recommend the Great 8 (double patty) over the Basic Cheeseburger. The double patty makes it much more flavorful. Next time I want to try the loaded Moo fries and a milkshake. read more

Hubby and I found this spot in the pandemic at the time there was no seating inside only outside. They have seating outside with warmers. Serve alcohol. We loved it! We've been since then a handful times. Fast forward to tonight , we went today and first time we've sat inside they have a bar. We got burgers which are delicious !! Tried the Oreo milkshake. Yummy ! Their sauce is so goood! My only complain are the fries I personally don't like them. To thin. But not something I would take a star for because they are good just not my fave. If you want yummy burgers in the dmv go here ! Milkshake great too! You order on your own in a computer. Clean inside. read more

I like Basic Burger more than Shake Shack. There, I said it. The burgers and chicken sandwiches here are perfect. The burgers are made from 100% grass fed beef and you can definitely tell by the better flavor and texture profile. The chicken sandwiches are large, fresh, and crispy. Both are smothered with their signature "basic sauce." I get the shoestring fries or salad as a side here usually. You can get house seasoning (old bay) added to the fries here and it's a MUST. The side salad is nice leafy green blend topped with almonds, pickled red onions, and a lemon vinaigrette. It's delicious and a good complement to the burger. Other unique things here on the menu are fried pickles and the various craft sodas that I have yet to try. They also have a small bar on the far side of the restaurant with a few beers on draft. Overall, a great place to grab a burger with some friends/ family. read more

Made the trek over from my hotel and was very happy I did. I got the basic burger with the moo string fries. The burger was very good. It was a single patty with lettuce, tomato, onion their basic sauce on a brioche bun. The bun was great and that sauce was amazing! The patty was good but I regret not getting a double patty burger and this one was rather thin. The moo string fries are very thing, stringy fries. I got the house seasoning on them and thought they were solid. Good place if you're looking for a burger. read more

3.5 I was pretty happy with my basic hamburger and shoestring fries. It was tasty and the bun did not fall apart. Hubby and I had a meal for 20 dollars for a hamburger, bacon cheese burger and small fries which is a bit much for it all given it wasn't very fancy. Really solid spot for eats in the Courthouse area. They have a veggie burger that tasted housemade, and unlike 95% of veggie burgers made by non-veg spots, held together super well! It's very mushroom-y, so for the shroom haters out there, beware. It keeps its shape thanks to wheat gluten, so the flavor is almost like a mushroomy seitan. Toppings and bun were great. I had a bite of a beef burger, and they definitely cook them fast food style (e.g. thin and overdone). I think once you reach a certain quality of beef (and price), having options such as medium rare are essential, but that's just my opinion. I've also had two chocolate shakes here: the first was excellent and very chocolatey, the second was very average, like vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup mixed in. I'll chalk it up to bad luck that they ran out of chocolate ice cream this most recent time! Definitely check out Basic Burger if you're craving a burger or hot dog in the Courthouse area. read more

We were with a class of 27 kids and two chaperones on a convention in Washington DC and needed to find a restaurant that could accommodated 29 people, for a reasonable price, within 15 min walking distance from the hotel (located in Crystal city) where kids could order/pay individually and they needed to provide a quick turnaround for our group dinner. When we came upon Basic Burger by coincidence, we went in and asked if we could reserve enough tables to accommodate us. The manager was very helpful and told us he will have enough tables ready for 6.15. We got there a little later (6.25) and by 7 pm EVERYoNE of our kids had their food. And all of it was done with a smile on their face. Everyone was so very friendly. The food was fresh and very tasty. We even were allowed to bring a birthday cake to celebrate a student's birthday. My husband and I live by the Whole Foods in pentagon city and our favorite place to eat nearby is 100% Basic Burger. We usually get their loaded fries (it has a fried egg, bacon, sauce, cheese, and scallions on top) and either burgers or fried chicken sandwich. Basic Burger never disappoints! We're moving further away soon and I'll definitely come back to PC just for them. I also love that they locally source their ingredients and even before knowing that, I felt everything tasted so fresh and worlds better than other burger places. read more

This place isn't bad. It has a low key feel to it. It offers two TVs at the bar and they have a selection of brews on tap. They also offer wine. They have a concept of simple is best and offer burgers, hot dogs, fries, life's fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings. Also, they have shakes and offer a good selection of craft sodas. I had the lodes fries that come with everything under the sun and a fried egg. It was a meal in it of itself and it was really good. I enjoyed them. My husband had the Great 8 burger which offers double patties. The burger was simple and good. Nothing out of this world. In the end I'd say the compare to a Shake Shack. read more

It's a new burger joint, of course I had to check it out! I really want to give 3.5 stars, but I feel they deserve a bump up. As many have said their burgers are... basic... and on the small side... but the quality is good and the staff is nice. My favorite thing was the "Basic Sauce"... and I don't really like Thousand Island. I didn't realize that you can build your own burger with more exotic options, and the Loaded Moo Fries (minus fried egg) sound pretty awesome. I'll have to go back and try a shake. To earn a fifth star from me, I would suggest they add some more sauce/topping options. There are just too many burger joints that spoil me for choice with delicious ways to trick out my meal. I enjoy the "Basic" aspect, but the decor and location scream for just a little more zazz! read more

Overall, great new spot in Courthouse! For a fast casual resturant, the service here is really, really great. Everyone works together to make sure all of the customers are taken care of. So you walk in and order at the counter. They give you a number and you seat yourself. They also have a small bar with about 6 beers on tap. For our meal, we ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, bacon cheeseburger and fries pickles. It was around $30, so a little pricy for what you get. The chicken sandwich was really good. The chicken is almost shredded chicken and it is really tender and flavorful. At first, the burger came out wrong- without bacon and the onion ring. They immediately corrected their mistake in about two minutes AND they gave a refund for their mistake! The fried pickles were really good, just a bit pricy for what you get. Room for improvement: Need more sauces- maybe hot sauce, mustard and other dipping sauce. As of now, they only have bbq, basic sauce(mayo), and ketchup. Also- would love to have had jalapeños on my burger and sandwich! read more

Basic Burger's name doesn't do this place justice. The menu is what comprised of what one would normally expect from a gastro burger restaurant, but the food here is pretty good and the atmosphere in the restaurant offers an open, cool, positive vibe. Forget what ya heard, being basic ain't always a bad thing! From the food to the decor, this burger spot shows that focusing on the basics pays off. Came here with a friend during the intermission of the Caps game last Saturday. To my delight, there was a bar with flat screen tvs to resume watching. While I probably wouldn't come here just to watch a game or indulge in a beer / wine, it's nice to know that's an option. I had the Basic Cheeseburger and a small Moo String Fries w/ house seasoning. Both were a tad pricier than I'd hoped, but I was definitely pleased with the quality. It's not a greasy burger so you won't feel like crap after eating it. I'd probably order the Great 8 next time since the meat to other stuff ratio was a little off for me. read more

Great burger and fries place. They had a location in courthouse but now have one in Pentagon Row. Burgers are great, average size but juicy. My favorite food here though are their loaded fries. It's a bit heavy (so I recommend sharing it) but damn it has amazing seasoning. They have a special sauce on the counter and it makes everything better so make sure you get some with your food. The food is however, a bit on the pricier side but i think it's worth it every now and then. They also have a bar area. read more

We truly had an excellent burger experience at Basic Burger. They have a really nice interior with a bar, as well as an outdoor patio with plenty of seating. I got the double basic burger, and it's the best all around burger I've had in DC for the price. The sweet potato fries were perfect, fresh and flavorful, on the thick cut side so you got a large helping of sweet potato. In our opinion, you can't beat the grass fed burgers and basic sauce. It's very similar to shake shack, but the bun is brioche and the patties are a bit thicker and better seasoned. They gave great customer service today too. read more

Seems a bit overdue for another review since it's been a few years and they have been at a new location for quite some time. We've been going to the new location in Pentagon Row since they've opened and even though we moved off Columbia Pike this is the one restaurant we continue coming back to enjoy. The service is spot on, the burgers are very enjoyable, and the fries are fantastic. Additionally, for the first time I got the chance to speak with the (or one of the?) owner and found it particularly insightful and appreciated discussing their business plan. I certainly consider them among the top burger places in the area. read more

As its name sake, the burger is pretty basic and surprisingly small for what you're paying. Compared to other similar burger joints, it seems overpriced for what you get, but the ingredients they use seem to be fresh and on the money so I can't complain too much. I usually don't get fries, but I was still hungry after I finished my Basic Bacon Cheeseburger so I also ordered the Moo String fries, which are crispy, right out of the fryer, and well seasoned. Even though the burger wasn't anything special to speak of, I'm giving this place 4-stars because the customer service is great. I'm looking forward to trying out other menu items from this place*. *For some reason this place isn't very well known; it doesn't even show up on Apple Map search results unless you really dig in deep into the map. read more
