We've been to this location a few different times while we're in the area. Usually they are well so depending on what you're looking for, but if you would like to have certain bakery item, since this is a popular location, I would suggest to get your items early in the morning for your fresh baked goods. Lady working the bakery counter was unbelievably rude. We tried to order a very basic cake - a sheet cake with an edible photo printed on top. They advertise these cakes in the binder right there at the counter. When we showed her the photo we wanted, she practically laughed in our faces, scoffed and said "Oh I can't do that. I'm not THAT good". You can't make a sheet cake with a printed photo laid on top? As we looked through the binder and tried to order something else from the example photos, she then said she can't make ANY of those cakes because her printer is broken. So which is it - you're not "good" enough to make a basic sheet cake, or the printer is broken? It sounds like she just didn't feel like taking an order. An exceptional Bashas' location! Called ahead to inquire about their hot deli breakfast selection, and was connected without delay and spoke with "George," who was both helpful and courteous. Arriving shortly thereafter (and per request), George put an amazing Keto breakfast plate together for me. I am not from this area and travel a lot. We shopped twice at Bashas. The first day a clerk was really nice knew we were visiting used her card to discount us. The next day I went again and asked Leslie at the front to use her card. She was rude said they don't have them and said go on your phone. She added we don't do that. Bashas again teamed up St. Vincent Dean Paul and 12 News for their annual Turkey Tuesday! I never knew this event existed. My mom was watching the news and gave me a call. Different vendors were out supporting the event. At the west valley Surprise location they had awesome live music, Surprise police and fire, Lengendary Martial Arts, Spruce Mobil Banking, Trend Booths, Eatz n Treatz, The Sanctuary for Animals - Phoenix Herpetology Society, Spencer's Place, and The Office Toolbox. These vendors offered treats and crafts for the kids. Our girls made bookmakers, paper bag turkeys, and thanks to Bashas decorate huge turkey cookies with colored frosting and sprinkles. Theybreally put a lot into it. Inside Bashas they had turkeys for 79 cents a pound. They were not priced as that and I don't think most people realized that. The $30 turkeys I picked out only ended up being $13 a piece so we went back for more. When checking out you can donate to provide more turkeys amd food boxes. When donating you can fill out a feather and place it on the turkey and are welcome to a free pumpkin pie. A lot of people really put a lot of time. So appreciated and neat when people come together who care.This store is a hot spot in the afternoon as everyone is swinging in after work as if it was a convenient store.The bakery is full of beautiful baked goods. They only get 2 stars because the birthday cake was delicious. Other than that, we are highly disappointed and let down by them today. We were throwing a birthday party for my son and we called bashas about 2 hours prior to the party to order 3 pizzas. No problem they said over the phone as they took our order and information down. 1pm came and my fiance arrived to pick up the pizza. The department manager came up and said "We don't have your pizza. We forgot to make dough for the pizza. Sorry about that!" My fiancee was calm and asked them why they took our order. The manager said that they had one dough ball. If that was the case, they should of let us know, we would of just had them bake one pizza. Shame on us for not having a backup plan for pizza because we ended up going to the party without a pizza. My son still had a good time but the closing manager last night should of made sure things were prepped for the following day so that whoever was working this morning/early afternoon wasn't set up for failure. read more

I do like that Basha's is a smaller grocery store but however due to their current remodeling I was hoping that they might have more of a better selection. But my favorite thing here is their hot foods selection. They have the best breakfast burrito! This thing is huge! When I get it I eat half for breakfast and the other half for lunch...you get my drift that's how big it is. They have awesome fish as well. The Mac and cheese is super creamy and delicious too. The mash potatoes however are too runny and have some what of a lemon taste. I think they need to work on those. Oh and don't forget to check out their donuts also one of my favorites. This Bashas grocery store has been a favorite of mine since moving here 10 years ago. The employees are very friendly and willing to help their customers out in any way they can. I especially like the fact that they make their customers feel like they are part of their family. To name a few, Marilyn, CeCe, Leslie, Crystal, and John are just the best of the best. This store is soo slow!! The employees are literally the worst at customer service. They are always under staffed. I needed help in the self check out and I literally had to wait 10 minutes for someone to finally come and help me. And when they came over they were walking as if they didn't care that I have been waiting. A little urgency wouldn't have killed them. I would never recommend this store. read more

This store has to be one of the slowest I've ever been. You can stand and wait up to 15 minutes at the service desk with no one helping. The meat department has the freshest meat of any grocery store in the area The Pharmacy - personal service, great selection. Like walking back in time to the old days. Kevin and Juanita are wonderful. Frys, Walmart, Safeway Walgreens have nothing compared to Bashas for service. Deli and the hot foods section has has the worst service. They will completely ignore you. or better yet, no one is there. I have complained to the management, and seen no improvement. Bakery department is beautiful, fresh. If you are ordering from this store make sure you check the product. I ordered a premade bag of greek salad along with several other items through Insta cart. The salad was almost liquified. When I called the store and spoke with Austin he said it was the shopper's fault that they picked a bad salad. Ok..... While the shopper should have been a bit more observant, this salad was completely brown and in the process of liquifying! In other words "sorry chump, not my problem" If I could upload a picture of what they had on the shelf you would be appalled. I definitely will not be having anyone shop for me at this store again. I have mixed feelings. On one hand, they are improving....or at least trying. On the other, they still need a LOT of work. The have advertised fresh produce, lower prices. Unfortunately, the quality is still VERY spotty. Don't get me wrong, the store is clean and has a great location. It is super convenient, but that's how I see it...a convenient store. I run in for a single item I might be in desperate need of, or don't have time to walk through a full sized grocery store, and that is pretty much it. As a matter of fact, I often skip it to go right across the street to Walgreens because I've been burned so many times on selection and price. The front of the house only ever has one cashier, and usually a grumpy gentleman with a less than sunny disposition, so I always opt for self check out. *Extra star as today as I was smiled at as I was leaving by a friendly younger lady helping bag groceries. (Please stay!) Overall, prices are high and selection is slowly improving. I'd prefer choices I'd actually use! There are full isles I've never seen anyone in! Back of the house staff is friendly and helpful if you can hunt them down. Butcher is awesome, but again, usually alone, so difficult to locate. Basha's is not my regular grocery store, but it is my neighborhood store and I use it mostly when I need to run in and grab something. Each and every time I go here I am disappointed. They rarely have more than 1 checkout lane open and it usually has a long line. They do have self-checkout, but they got rid of the person overseeing the machines. When an error is thrown (which it always does), you have to flag down someone to clear it. There's always people waiting at the customer service counter and usually no one is there or there's a long line with only one person watching. I've learned to always double check expiration dates when I go there because I had about 3 trips in a row where I got home and the item was expired. I have bought that to the manager's attention and they did remedy only the item I told them about. I contacted Bash's corporate and expressed these same concerns. I got a reply from Rob Johnson who said the would work with the store to remedy the issues. I've gone back twice since and the issues still remain. Rob told me to reply back if I had similar issues, and I did reply back. Never heard anything else from them. I know they are trying to recover from Bankruptcy, but if you're going to give up on customer service, what's the point. read more

I have went into Bashas 3X in the past week to find out about a promotion for a local event that they sponsor, was in their add, and they are to have a display in which to enter for free tickets/ and you can purchase (?) for free tickets... NO ONE can tell me what the hell I need to purchase... I got one manager, was told to come back the next day to talk to the next manager (it was ONLY the 1st day of the ad and they did not have the info yet...) I stop here three days a week for my lunches for work. Everything is always neat and clean. Produce is the best in the area, sales could be better but thats not the individual stores fault, and their self check out normally doesnt give me any problems. There are a few cashiers who recognize me but for the life of me I cant remember their names. One is very chatty and always makes me smile, (blonde and maybe in her late 40s?)I can tell sometimes her talking bothers those behind me, but if you dont like it go to self check out for your 12 pack of cheap beer. Great people with great hearts! I lost my wallet there last night & basically had a heart attack just thinking of where it could be. I called this morning & an honorable worker had found my wallet & saved it for me. Nothing was touched, everything was in place. I am forever thankful for that person who found my wallet!!! I can't thank them enough!!! On another note I love bashas because they always have the Shamrock Farms Lactose Free milk my son drinks. Frys, Safeway, & walmart is always out of that milk. I have been to this store a handful of time to grab an item or two because it's around the corner from my house. I have yet to have an employee be friendly. They always seem to be grumpy and act put out when interacting with you. The selection is poor and very overpriced. Went in today for a couple things, one being Greek yogurt and the majority were expired and the ones that weren't were going to be in the next day or two. The produce section is pitiful. I can't tell you how many times I've had come home to find expired food. Thus week while shopping my daughter and I were getting the Farmer John bacon that was on sale. There were only a couple left that appeared to be edible. There were several packages that looked gross and discolored. I had bought some fig newtons on Friday the 9th of March. I opened them Sunday night the 11th and they were stale. I checked the date and it was dated March 5th. I had already thrown away my receipt. Who keeps receipts from a grocery store? Who has to check dates before you buy cookies? Unreal. I think I'll drive the extra 7 miles to the Sun City West Bashas to shop. Beautiful store! They even have a kids play area. We went to get 6 sandwiches at the deli and felt like they didn't want our business. It was very strange. They acted like we asked for 10 sandwiches. We wanted to wait for them, not a big order in my humble opinion. The manager was called in to take this very large order. Where am I said? Was I missing something? The manager said we should have called the order in. SERIOUSLY? I told her we're visiting and trying to get sandwiches for our family. We're okay to wait a little. So I am changing my review from 2 stars to 1 star!!! I ordered my daughters 12th birthday cake on a Wed for a Friday pickup. I go to pick up the cake after work on Friday around 6pm and guess what? NO CAKE!!! They NEVER made it! I was extremely upset! We've only lived here for 2 years (no family nearby) and no big party so I was expecting at LEAST a cake she would LOVE! It's been a tradition for me to order a way cool surprise cake for my kids on their birthday. Well that didn't happen this year! I like this store for many reasons. They carry Boars Head in the deli, the best fresh bread and donuts abd a good meat department. So the shopping experience is good until you reach the checkout. They have a woman ringing customers who is just a nasty old bag who ruins the whole shopping experience. She acts like she's doing you a tremendous favor by ringing up your sale. She is always having a personal conversation with whoever may be hanging around so you are basically ignored when you first walk up to the checkout and then she will continue to talk while she's ringing the sale. You won't find nicer employees or a cleaner layout. Everything is easy to find and they have the most welcoming staff. There is hardly ever any wait time and when we ask for help they eagerly oblige.
