This store is grossly overpriced and yet, there is constantly bad food on the shelves. I got milk within the sell by date that was bad and now it's still on the shelves but marked at half price. It's SOUR! I've gotten red delicious apples twice that were rotted inside. The list is long. The kiddo with frizzy hair & glasses @ self-checkout is rude. He walks around with ear buds and doesn't speak when you solicit his help. I got a deli tray of pinwheel sandwiches and ordered for a pickup time of 3-5pm. They were done at 11am. When I called the store no one cared. The deli manager said too bad. The store manager said, "All the deli trays are done in the morning for the day. That's just how we do it because the guy who does them leaves for the day." The room I picked them up from is not even very cold. They wanted to leave the tray there for 5-6 hours. Someone needs to audit this store. It's bad. I think the FDA may be interested. read more

Food selection is pretty much expected and not bad, however, they did get rid of several items that were key. Their customer service seems to have gotten better lately, which is a huge improvement. They renovated the Starbucks and have had more consistent employees there, which is huge for this area. They may have needed to stay in competition with Frys. I thought when the frys was built I would no longer be a Safeway customer. But Safeway has become familiar I know where everything is and frys is too darn big! read more

Rewand works in the Produce Department and is one of the first store associates you have contact when entering on the north side, he is very happy, knowledgeable, accommodating and personable. He's very polite and will greet you by your first name if you have shared that with him. He's a dedicated employee and should be compensated and acknowledged as such. I love him positive personality in the a.m. unlike some others that don't appreciate the fact they have a job and get to deal with such wonderful customers from the area. I had a slip and fall accident which I believe they handled very badly. I avoid Safeway whenever possible preferring to shop at Fry's just 2 minutes up the street. The Fry's store is well stocked including a meat department carrying Snake River Farms products as well as a well stocked fresh fish selection. They also have a great liquor department being managed by a very knowledgeable young woman named Tamara. A great time to stock up is during their 25% off sale which applies to any purchase of 6 bottles or more mix and match. read more

It was 6:58 on 3/7/24 and I approached the check out register to leave and found not a single register open to check out. Two cashiers standing in their lanes but lights out and bread cart blocking their aisles. Only option was self checkout and all 6 were occupied and I was 8th person in line with people behind me and more approaching. We only shop in this store because it's convenient. The prices here are outrageous and the staff needs better customer service training. We went through the self checkout and noticed our coupons did not get applied. We tried to ask the cashier who was very snarky and got sent to customer service. At customer service we kindly let the cashier know. She proceeded to be snarky and condescending. We may not have known the proper procedure to use when the app is down BUT there's a better way to educate the customer without being a jerk about it. Once the Fry's opens we won't be back and I bet we aren't the only ones!! read more

Hands down the nicest Safeway I've ever been in. Not only does it have self check out, it has a large bakery, cafe, deli which includes sushi, and a Starbucks inside. The store was every clean and organized. Parking lot is well kept with a large amount of tables to sit and enjoy the weather outside. I didn't interact with any employees on this trip since I used the self check out so my review is based on ease and cleanliness. read more

This Safeway is ridiculous. The management is embarrassing. Customer service is typically very rude. I regularly find very old yogurt, like expired 2 months ago, in front of fresh yogurt. It's Safeway, so prices are absurd on most items. The hot bar, omg the hot bar is disgusting. That needs to change, this is a nice community, do the neighborhood better! That being said... Reuben in wine is great. He is always cheerful and helpful. He genuinely is there to help and make your day better. The girls that work at Starbucks are amazing. So kind and always working hard. There is a courtesy clerk, Warren, that is always moving, getting things done, not standing and yapping or looking at a phone. What we should expect. Living in Vistancia, this is the closest store to us. Usually the store is pretty on top of things but this is now the third or fourth thing.. I'm frustrated. I've tried to not get too upset bc things happen.. but I think it's the fact that they don't even TRY to rectify things. I've managed several hospitality fields and everyone knows you FIX THE PROBLEM. * Special ordered a white birthday cake with white non Dairy whipped. I was asked did I want flowers on top... sure! The cake was for a birthday party. My party. I picked it up at the scheduled time and it was a white cake with CHOCOLATE non dairy frosting with BUTTER CREAM roses and boarder all over the cake. Absolutely none of this combination makes sense, nor is it what I ordered. The guy in the bakery didn't know what kind of frosting was on my cake.. that I needed to look at the paper. I left. Called a manager when I got home and was met with "ive been here for x years and I've never had a cake complaint". Yeah.. I eventually got an apology, but zero offers to correct this. 3/4 of the $40 cake got tossed bc it couldn't be eaten. And the BEAUTIFUL $50 rose bouquet my husband got me had to be tossed TWO days later, as it was dead! This past weekend we did a quick stop around 8pm to get some ice cream. I wanted a specific item from the deli.. but the young lady, very politely, told me I couldn't get anything from the deli case bc it was closed and she needed to clean bc they are understaffed. Ok. Yesterday.. I went to the Butcher Block and was nicely greeted by the young man behind the counter. I asked him if the chicken fajita meat in the case was all he had.. as I saw about a pound and needed more around 5lbs. He said "Yeah, for now... I'd have to make more". So I got a pack of ground beef. As I grabbed that.. he walked to the consumer side of the counter and joined another butcher and what looked like a patron. They stood awhile laughing and talking about things from 7th grade? Seemed like buddies. Ok.. I get it, have fun at work... but....? Today.. (yes, we go to Safeway nearly everyday. Every Birthday..) did another quick $200 shop. Swung by the deli, it's 5pm so I should Be good. Got an $8 large container of the Basil Pesto Bow tie pasta. Got home, my husband and daughter both started in on the pasta and both literally started gagging and acting crazy.. saying it was "Off and tastes like Stale pasta and FISH!" ... it was spoiled. Straight in the trash. Not even going to waste my time and gas to deal with this right now, it's dinner time for my family. WHAT IS GOING ON?! We pay more at Safeway, for convenience. I stayed in the area in early September for 5 days last year ( 2018 ), and we shopped almost every night. ( Days were brutal, heat-wise. ) While it appeared to have construction going on, things were very neat and clean. The nicest part of shopping here was the very personable and pleasant individual at the register, Kerry, if I am not mistaken. I am really sorry it took me this long to write this up on Yelp!, but I and my party from Japan were totally impressed. Love the butcher at this Safeway!!! Reminds me of the butcher at the grocer we went to when I was growing up. He knows everything about every cut of meat, including the best ways to cook them...and will take the time to talk to you about it. I told him about something that hadn't turned out quite right the last time I made it -- he gave me a tip and it turned out melt-in-your-mouth perfectly. So besides the fact that this Safeway has the same women's health mix that I used to have to drive to Scottsdale to get from Whole Foods or the fact that they have other specialty items that are cheaper than going to AJ's, it's worth the drive to Vistancia just to visit the butcher. read more

This store was given a nice facelift. It is also convenient. We live in Vistancia, but it is getting harder to support this store. The last time I was in there Shamrock Farms milk was on sale, but none was in the shelf. When I went to check out I asked if they were giving rain checks for the milk. The cashier asked if it was on sale. I stated it was, so she looked through an ad with several things torn out of it. When she didn't find milk in the ad she called the manager over. The manager didn't know it was on sale either. She told me they don't issue rain checks for items not on sale. Why would I want a rain check for an item at regular price?!? She told me if I wait she could check to see if it was on sale. I was in a hurry, so I just left. I used to work in a grocery store. By the end of the weekly ad (which this was), I knew most of what was on sale each week (working part-time). How does the manager of the store not know A) that milk is on sale that week and B) that they are out of it? This wouldn't be such a big deal, but similar type stuff has happened at this location before. It would be nice if someone knew how to run this store! read more

Safeway is clean, however their prices are extremely high compared to Target, Sprouts, and eventually Frys. It's convenient being in Vistancia, but for food shopping, I will pass it up! It seems the quality of produce and meat has taken a bit of a south turn since the Albertsons buyout. Not sure what's going on with that. Plus, they consistently run out of donuts on Saturday? 2nd issue but the same. Rude kids working for Safeway that are mindless. I have a cashier that literally walked away because he doesn't know how to explain what digital coupons are. I certainly don't know and when the kid simply handed me a coupon papers and told me to look it up myself, that got me upset. It's not my job to educate myself on how their store is run. As a front line cashier, he should know the answer when asked questions on such thing or simply say I don't know but I will ask and let you know. He gave me an attitude and Told me I can't help you. I for one will not tolerate it. The service manager ended up helping me. These young kids needs to learn and take accountability for their actions. If he can't do the job, he or she should not be servicing customers. It's really bad for business. Then I got home and checked my receipt, I got over charged on items instead of applying the discount. I will go the extra miles and go to fry's next time. I've had good experiences here and I've had bad ones. Debbie has consistently been amazing. Like seriously one of the nicest people I've ever met. She is always fast and courteous. The older lady that works here with the short hair is the polar opposite. She never smiles and seems to be a generally unhappy person. I've come in to this Safeway in a great mood and then I go to her aisle because I leave the other open register for the handicap and instantly regret coming in. I wish there were other options for groceries besides Safeway up in Vistancia.. either that or find more people like Debbie. read more

This is "my" Safeway, walkable from my home. The staff is great to work with and the store is always clean and shelves ship-shape. We love a new line of "sprouts" they carry that go by the name Ra Nanoshoots; these are awesome on sandwiches instead of yucky old lettuce. I wish they carried 8 O'Clock coffee, Chobani Coffee Yogurt, Aunt Jemina Whole Wheat Pancake Mix, Starbucks Mocha COCONUT fraps, Wholesome Harvest bread, Kretchmer Honey Crunch Wheat Germ and Lysol Multi-Purpose Cleaner with Hydrogen Peroxide. I wish they paid more attention to situating the cart corrals on the parking lot as these things steadily creep into nearby parking spots and make several spots unusable for parking. I will sometimes move them into proper alignment myself but wish the store would do it. Safeway emails me electronic coupons that I load to my shopper card which helps a lot on getting better prices. read more

I am so disappointed in my Safeway's floral department. I live in the neighborhood of Vistancia and Safeway was always been my "go to" for any floral needs. Lately, the floral department has gone way downhill. The people that work in that department have a "less than concerned" attitude. The flowers are not fresh and the choices are limited. Today I went into get a bunch of flowers for a collegue and it was sad what was available. What was on the floor was wilted and sad. There was a time when this floral department and staff was helpful and talented, but that is a thing of the past. I'm hopeful that some attention will be directed to this department in the near future. It's little things like this that make locals go elsewhere for their groceries and floral needs. :( read more

Living in Vistancia this store is not only convenient, but a joy to shop in. It's clean, set up nice and always improving. I love that I can get my shots conveniently while shopping. Prices seem fair. When we first moved in, personnel at the store asked us our first name and then used to greet us using our names! Cashiers are always pleasant and once while being helped with my packages I went to tip the man, he flatly refused to take it saying "it was his pleasure!" That would never happen in NY!
