I should have called earlier in the week, looking for small cups of vanilla ice cream. It was Wednesday and I needed 80 cups by Saturday morning. I called Smart and Final and was told I would need to talk to the manager. I spoke to Joe Martinez. He might have heard the sound of desperation in my voice. He sounded almost apologetic for my procrastination, explaining that he would not be able to guarantee he would have them on Saturday. But he quickly offered to go see how many he did have. He came back and happily told me he had 7 bags of 12 cups--84 cups! I was so relieved. He said he would put them in a box with my name on it to make sure they would be there to pick up Saturday. When I got there Saturday he brought them up for me. I really appreciated his great service; he was so pleasant, helpful, and his empathy for my self-made potential screw-up helped me from having a panic attack. He saved my bacon! Visited this location to pick up a few items and was greeted by Russell. Wow! What a genuine - down to earth Cashier. He was courteous, professional, and made us feel like family. It is a nondescript type of grocery store. I still prefer other places like Target and Costco because of better selections.

I moved into the area two months ago and I've been coming here at least once a week. I stopped in a few days ago to change in my coins for a gift card and the Coinstar machine wasn't working properly. Marissa the store associate was very helpful and patient with the machine. After multiple times and tries, she was able to get it to work. Smiling and being polite and helpful while I was also being patient, yet I was on a time frame. Everything worked out. I sincerely thank Marissa for everything. And if Coinstar ever comes across this. Get your act together. read more

I don't know if I should say I'm glad I live so far from here or that I'm sad it's far. I heard from a friend that Smart and Final sells a large selection of Torani syrup and as a coffee and tea drinker I had to come check it out. There were so many different flavors I had a hard time choosing just a few. Honestly I would've probably bought more if I could've gotten a better visual of the flavors on the very top shelf, but I couldn't reach them. I loved the bulk items on so many things as well. I know this store sells a lot to restaurants etc so that is why. The store was clean and very organized. Prices on the syrups were around three dollars less than all other stores I've purchased them before. I was surprised to see fresh fruit, meats and other options as well. I didn't realize it has pretty much all a grocery store does. Location is good, but for me it is far as I said before so I won't come unless I'm running low on my Torani syrups. Did I mention they had HUGE tubs of ice cream; including a few Thrifty flavors. If I could've fit it in my freezer at home I'd of brought it home ha ha. I always like to give the house brand a try, it might be just as good, Sometimes even better, than name brands. Stopped by to pick up a few things including White Castle Cheeseburgers and saw First Street brand was about 2 bucks less so I thought why not. Well this isn't one of those cases where the house brand is as good. They were disgusting, misshapen, bread turned out hard and not enough cheese. Not that I expected to be overloaded with cheese but come on, at least the same size as the meat/bun but in this case they would have to have somebody hand slice the cheese. This place is like a mini Costco, but a little bit more expensive and not very friendly service. They offer bulk and regular grocery items. They require face coverings to enter the store. I shopped in here prior to the mandatory face mask policy, but when the roll out of the ridiculous social distancing floor markers and register plexi-glass shields. You have to wait on the line until the cashier calls you to step forward. Way too much trouble to just go to the store anymore. The prices were a little bit higher on most products offered. Food containers are decent price compared to Sam's Club. There wasn't anything that they offered that was so amazing that I would go out of my way to shop here again. I've been here a few times. I typically watch for their ad to see what's on sale and only stop if they have a few well priced sale items I want. They have a nice produce department. Good selection. Everything else is okay. They are limited in each department on the brands and variety they carry. However, they do have things in bulk or larger packaging if you like to buy things that way. The meat department is decent. They usually have a good sale price on one type of meat each week. I have also gone in and gotten some super low deals on meat that was unadvertised. It's a clean store with wide aisles. The biggest negative is they only have one or two cashiers during the weekday morning making checking out take too long. read more

I live close and shop here frequently but today I stopped by and they had a sign out saying you can't even enter their building without a face mask...it's not even legal to say that! I like shopping here. I stop by on the way home from work and it is very quiet. They are not a large store nor do they have a large selection but that is the charm of it. The prices are about the same as elsewhere with some discount bins. Some things are cheaper and some items you can buy in bulk. read more

Stopped in this store today while visiting another business on their lot. I wandered around and saw a great deal on a Ribeye Roast (6.99/lb) which was $2 cheaper than the normal on sale price. I decided it was a great deal and took it to the register. First, the cashier couldn't figure out the code to ring it up- I get it, everyone has off days. However, when she finally put in the code, it came up at the higher price. I explained that the sign in the meat department listed the lower price and she called over the manager. The manager informed me that I needed to read the small print in their advertisement in the mail because the sale required a coupon. The sign did not indicate this and I don't normally pay attention to their mail flyers because I don't shop here. I just moved near this store and would have been a new customer, but they just list my business over a $2/lb. discount. Not impressed with the customer service. Avoid this store. Fry's is much friendlier and will even honor other store's deals sometimes if you ask. read more

I love Smart & Final. Prices for bulk pepperoni, cheese, butter, espresso coffee etc are always much lower than Costco or Sams club. Always friendly at this location. Not sure why anyone has complained about face coverings or social distancing. The fact is this was the only store requiring this prior to the state requirement. The store caters to restaurants, one of the hardest hit industries from COVID-19, so likely why they were on top of health and safety rules and regulations. read more

Never ever shopping here again. They are requiring that people wear masks before entering their store..one of the cashiers up front was very nice said he would allow me to shop today, next time I would have to bring in a mask. Then Dave Dutton the district manager decided to use his power and force me to buy a mask or kick me out of the store...I work at a healthcare facility we dont even require our patients who come in to wear a mask unless they are showing symptoms of covid...he said we are trying to keep people safe...I have news for you Dave you dont keep people safe just buy wearing a mask, hand hygiene is most important, also your level 1 mask that you're selling will not protect you, you need a level 4 or better....I will be posting my disgust for Smart & Final (Petty) on all my other social media accounts..Dave Dutton should be fired for treating customers this way, making a public scene, and publicly humiliating customers...the customer is always right is clearly not Smart & Pettys motto...clearly Smart & Petty has no freedoms and is run by dictator named Dave Dutton.. read more

I wanted to like this store, I really did, but it's costing me money. When the store first opened the produce department was beautiful; filled with perfectly ripe produce. The last three times I have visited this store there were many items out of stock. Most recently, I purchased a 10# bag of potatoes which I found the next day to be emitting a toxic smell. When I looked inside the bag, I found more than 1/3 of the potatoes were beyond rotten! Aside from rotting produce, I am not fond of the woman at the register. She is ahem, middle age, and has a surly attitude! She does not acknowledge you, nor does she thank you. Who needs it!?! I can't wait to see what grocery chain will occupy this spot next! So far it's been ABCO, Fresh and Easy and now Smart and Final. read more

An employee of this store assaulted my mother because she wasn't wearing a mask. She had a face covering on that was literally the same material as all the masks that people are wearing and one of the employees snatched some items out of her hand and forced her out of the store. She got it all on video and she is not the type of person to just let things lie. This store will never be getting my business again. They should really rethink how they treat their customers. im truly appalled. My mom is in her 60's. Any store that chooses unjustified authority over compassion does not deserve anyone's business. read more

It has been years since I have been to smart & final. I was attracted to the price of bananas since I buy bulk for the homeless and was pleasantly surprised with all of the produce as well as some of the items I found in the store. There was only one cashier but they immediately rectify that open another lane and it went quickly. I most likely will be back now but I see what items they carry and the cleanliness of the store. The last time I was in a Smart and Final was over 40 years ago and you had to have a resale license to go in. This is one of their new "Extra" concept stores. To me it has an identity problem. It is basically a typical grocery store with some items, mostly those associated with entertaining, available in case sizes at a discount. It has a good produce dept. The meat section was just sort of OK. The offer some items in bulk bins but not near the selection of Sprouts or Whole Foods. The store is clean, and where they are not restocking, there is not much clutter in the aisles. The pricing of the non sale items was similar to an Albertsons. I can't see this becoming a regular stop but I spotted some items I don't see often and it is nice to have a source if I need them near my apt.. read more

Best store ever!!! If you want to shop for items that have a box store price without the membership fee and without buying 10 items shrink wrapped together- this is it. Finally a store that isn't the size of 4 football fields and set up perfectly. And there are more and better brands with better prices than anywhere, plus their house brand, which is pretty good, saves you even more. Service is better than most lower price stores. Everyone is friendly and efficient and the place is super clean. And alcohol! read more

The past 4-5 times that I have visited this store I have been treated very poorly. Today was the last straw, as the cashier, Janet, did not even acknowledge that I was there. At the end of my transaction she basically threw the receipt at me, not saying a word. I called the manager on duty to report this and he was very apologetic but the damage is done.
