A fellow co-worker suggested to me to give WinCo Foods a try. This store's hours are 24/7 days a week, with ample parking. The store itself reminds me of Costco. It has a huge entrance and exit area. As you walk through the store, there's stocked items on the left & right of you. There's also a incredibly large bulk section, from candy to pet food. This store has a vast variety of things to buy from bake goods to laundry detergent. Some items are 20 cent to 3 dollars cheaper than Walmart, but a large portion of items are the same price. Also, WinCo only takes debit cards, cash and personal checks. The only true standout is that it's open all the time, but if you want to buy a 3 lb pack of Jennie-O ground turkey, it's the same price at their competitors. Super distasteful what I endured today. I love this grocery store it's my go to store. I will always drive 30-40 minutes to come here as opposed to a 5 minute drive Fry's (Kroger) I have by my house. Tracy W was my cashier. I have to mention for background that I am Latina and she kept looking at me like I am some abnormal out of this world being for being brown. She asked me for my date of birth for the beer that I was purchasing but forgot to say hello or ask if I found everything ok. So I just gave her my ID. Then she told me to take my beer in a very demanding tone while tapping the box aggressively. When I told her to have a great day she ignored me. I really do feel discriminated towards. Felt as though she couldn't fathom the thought of talking to a brown woman. I'm have been coming to this Winco for 10 years. This is not ok! Do better winco. read more

Then I go the meat section to see if I can get some help and the guy printing out tags right in front of me doesn't even look up to see if I needed any help? Winco is a great place for me to shop. I like their wide aisles and it is usually cool in the summer and warm in the winter like most grocery stores in the area not to mention retail clothing department stores, libraries, malls and so on. The store usually looks clean to me like most other stores do. I like how their products are supposed to be a little less expensive than others because they don't accept credit cards. But sometimes this is tricky if I am out shopping and remember I want to go there to buy something but I don't have my debit card or cash with me. Is using cash you have to have enough money with you. I like their bread that seems to be made fresh daily. It can be used to make sandwiches or to be eaten as a slice of bread alone. read more

The brown bags feel retro for those of us who remember when that was the only option. The brand foods are surprisingly fair and they have a bulk grains and such selection for those who are Trader Joe's minded. Offer both cashier and self check-out options and provide a small home goods section as well. Note: they only accept cash or debit No Credit Cards!! This rating has nothing to do with the actual store, employees or management. Our experience isn't very good. We went around 8 pm at night and let me tell you. The tweakers really like this place. Be careful that's all I have to say. It's rough just like a food city or frys down on McDowell or Van Buren. We had some tweaked out lady freaking out thinking we were following her. She started screaming at us and absolutely losing her mind. Right in the middle of the store. She had a total meltdown for 10 minutes. Screaming at the top of her lungs. I mean I'm there shopping and she is so paranoid that she thinks my gf me are FBI/ ice and following her and her boyfriend. I mean to me it was funny but my gf was scared and pissed at me for taking her there. Now we can never go back to that location. Such a hidden gem, a great place to shop. It's out of the way for me, but I plan my trip, so it is worthwhile. I wish they would bring one to Scottsdale, but that probably will not happen. They serve a diverse client base, so their food selection is more diverse. There is a great fruit and vegetable section, and the cereal aisle has it all (hot and cold). The bakery is loaded with sweet treats, and they have a large liquor and wine section. The store is clean but often cold. Prices are very good, and I can generally find the items I want. As with any grocery store, not all items are a deal, so you must shop wisely. There are both self-checkout registers and employee cashier lanes. read more

This place is amazing! I went for my first time and , mind blown! First of all, they show the competitor prices and then their prices. It's like a wholesale market and has tons of options for any/all of your grocery needs. I'm obsessed with their bulk section, they have everything from spices to candy to flour, sugars, nuts, and more! I'm a sourdough baker, so I got 4-5 variations of different flours and mixes to try. It's nice bc they have bags so you can customize how much or little you need.this location is fairly new and clean and well organized. I am a total Winco fan and have boycotted all other stores! Yes you pay cash or debit card but you are going to save $25-$50 on your grocery bill every time with all the same name brands as other stores. No bullshit loyalty member cards, coupons or fuel perks that you pay for hidden in the cost of food at other stores. They have the best prices in town and are usually $2-$10 less per item compared to Frys and Safeway. You always get a friendly cashier vs self -checkout at those other stores. I gave a 3 stars vs 5 stars because of the produce area. I find rotting and fly covered produce there all the time. Management needs to fix this to get my five stars. read more

I came in with my 4 siblings to buy wine for my moms birthday party. I'm 21 but everyone else wasn't of age. My parents sent me to get wine and I took my siblings with me. Once I got to checkout, the cashier, Monica, asked for everyone's ids and then told me I couldn't purchase the wine with minors. After that I just dropped them off at home and came back by myself she still refused to serve me. She was very rude and I don't recommend going here. read more

Worse produce on the planet. Super expensive but trash quality. Dried up garlic bulbs and other poor quality items. Avoid the big lemons they are all pith which indicates poor care so they must buy bulk crap and sell at high prices. Employees were a bit strange as well not very friendly. Eggs and milk at the back exit of the store so you have to travel miles to get basics. Some good prices but most are higher than other places. If Costco and Fry's Marketplace had a baby, this would be it. Aisles are big and wide so that not only can your cart fit but you can have the whole fam and them with you side by side. Aaaaaw the love.... Okay, so before you run off wild in the aisles filling up your carts; it's important to know that credit cards are not accepted. Make sure you have your debit card pin memorized because that card decline is not the anxiety flex you want. Okay now that you have your debit card, cash, and other acceptable forms of payment; you're good to go. The store has cereal, coffee , candy, baking items, etc in bulk so you can fill up a bag of your favorites. The meat section has paper towels next to the plastic bags so you can keep those hands and meats dry. Love love love. I did not see any frozen organic vegetables. That hurt my soul right there. There are some organic selections in the dry goods (pantry) aisles but not a lot. Okay now here's where you gotta pay attention. Some items are a steal pricewise- Jelly Belly jelly beans for example are 50% less in price compared to Fry's and CVS. Yes I know I could have purchased a larger container of Oxyclean from Costco that would have been more cost effective but sometimes you're just in for convenience- Costco closes at 6pm on a weekend whereas Winco is open 24 HOURS!!! Yes , I said that loud for the cheap seats in the back. True story: needed to bake a pie for work and at 3am, I realized I'm out of eggs. Noooo. If Winco was not here, there would be no pie-facts! This location was previously Walmart and conveniently located on 7th ave and Bell Road in North Phoenix. This place is spacious and spotless. It felt like a wholesale market like Costco or BJ's, but there are differences. I would say it's in the middle of regular super market and a wholesale market. Great price. Be aware they would not accept credit card- debit card or cash only. Since their prices are low, so they need to cut off credit card fees, in order to provide better discount for customers. They have varieties of items to choose from and the staff are helpful. On the tag it also indicates the price comparison from other major super markets like Walmart and Safeway. read more

I finally managed to stop and check out my local WinCo grocery store and am glad I did. Overall, I had mixed impressions about this store, but the plusses outweighed the minuses and I will be back. One of the first departments upon entering is produce and frankly, I thought most of the product condition was marginal so we passed. Seafood was unimpressive but the meat and prices were very appealing and I can say the quality of the beef I cooked that night was great. One of my favorite things was the ability to buy small amounts of spices. I hate spending $5-6 for something that may be only used in a recipe twice a year. There were also baking items and candy in bulk so you could bag just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. The store is huge and as I wandered through, I started comparing items to ones from last week's Fry's receipt still in my purse. There was a considerable difference. Frankly, considering the high cost of a lot of snack food (i.e., potato chips) I have refused to buy them. Hubby got excited when he found his favorite chips a dollar cheaper. We perused the bakery department and a cookie assortment (cheaper than elsewhere) landed in the cart. The store is clean, but seems somewhat dated. I think it was a Walmart before. It carries a good variety of products (not all cheaper than elsewhere) and has friendly staff. I'll be back. read more

I love grocery shopping here mainly because it's 24 hours. Parking is very spacious, probably 100+ parking stalls in front of the store This is like a grocery super store. Produce section is great with both organic and conventionally grown options. They have a lovely bulk item section near produce that you can find great prices on beans, flours, grains, spices and more. There is a section of self serve coffee beans to select a choice of different whole beans. I'm not a coffee drinker but just the smell of that coffee bean area is amazing. I remember seeing a coffee grinder to put your selected coffee beans into. Every part of this store is well stocked with all the grocery essentials you can think of. All the employees here are super friendly and they seem to never be in a bad mood to help you find something in the store. For a store this size, it is very clean. This place is open 24 hours so obviously foot traffic is always present so don't knock them if you see small debris on the floor. This isn't the Smithsonian. This is a really good place to shop and I've really only resorted to come here during times after midnight as I'm at work during the afternoons. There are no bad things I can point out except that there was a possible tweaker in front of the store the last two times I've been there. I'm not sure if they were a tweaker but they kept asking me for change. This place accepts EBT, you will be hard pressed to come here with your grocery list and they do NOT have everything you came here for. This is a one stop grocery store. They also explained to me that products with a green label indicates a sale price and the non green shelf label is regular price. So look for all the green labels and save more money here. They have a great selection of kombucha here which is in the grocery section of the store. Also the breakfast cereal section is way bigger than Walmart. Hope this helps. read more

I'm wary of WinCo. I'm not very conspiracy-minded, but they're run out of Idaho and Idaho is filled with weirdos. Anyhow, I'm not going to bore you with that. It's just that their prices shot bizarrely out of control. Like, $8 for Hearts of Romaine out of control. And these were just the regular pathetic, sickly Hearts of Romaine, not some kind of grandiose, gold-foil-tipped reissues. Yeah, there was a "Romaine" problem at the time, but I could still get them at Wal-Mart for $3. That's just one example. The list went on. So anyway, I still drop by WinCo from time to time and their prices have returned to something approaching normalcy. However, where they used to be reliably cheaper on nearly everything in the store (to an extent that actually amazed me, tbh) that is no longer the case. So now, I can't just be on autopilot when it comes to groceries. I keep a spreadsheet and I know which stores carry what things at what prices (generally speaking) and I go where I need to go to get the deals. This means I have to go to three stores for grocery day, but I'm generally able to get the groceries I want for similar overall prices to what I spent before the pandemic - although I may have switched out some brand-name items for generic here and there. Your mileage may vary, but I didn't want to discourage anyone from having a look and seeing what WinCo has to offer, since they do have some very good deals from time to time. And their Hearts of Romaine are back to $2.50. Hallelujah! read more

I love this grocery store! They are cheap on prices and open 24 hours! I work nights so I come here all the time at 2 or 3 am. Staff is nice, but lots of restocking going on at night. Still a great grocery store. My favorite grocery store!! I recommend everyone come check this store out, quite different and Large compared to others grocery stores! I love that it is open 24/7 but I mean come on you are a huge corporation, I get up to the cashier after buying quite a bit of groceries and go to pay with my credit card because that was the only card I had brought, only for them to tell me I can't use credit, if that's the case let it be know and make the consumer aware before they load up on groceries!!! Winco is great! They have great deals on some items then other stores. Also some items they will show you the competitors price verses theirs. They have everything as most stores. For candy you can put how much you want in a bag. They have a great deli selection & bakery selection. Also I love that some of their produce is cheaper then other stores. read more
