Love their bulk food section. I can purchase as much as I want or as little as I need because everything is sold by the pound. Their employees are constantly refilling each bin. The coffee by the pound is also a great find. I grind my own beans and they have many types of beans to choose from. Just 30 years ago Phoenix offered 5 distinct large grocery chains, and a few smaller independent ones, now they're all from Boise. This monopolization has greatly reduced service and selection. Winco took longer to get as weak as the others, but I see they've arrived. I just swiped my card for a $90 order, but wanted to get 2 5s for a 10 to buy lottery tickets. The clerk told me that it was company policy not to make change. Naturally I didn't believe that a grocery would not break a 10 for me during my actual food purchase, but when I called the main number in Boise, they confirmed it to be official company policy. First of all I love this store and do most of my grocery shopping here. I always find something interesting and feel like I am getting a great deal. It is clean, well lit, and both the employees and customers are pleasant. I was curious how much I actually save so I calculated what my last grocery trip would have cost at Fry's on today's prices. I spent $73.72 and WinCo and the equivalent would cost $85.32 at Fry's (13.6% savings). And Fry's is pretty affordable anyway! Best deals at WinCo according to my calculations: Frozen berries (50% savings) Limes (44%) Mirin (32%) White sweet potato (36%) Strawberries (34%) Better priced at Fry's: Asparagus on sale this week (56% cheaper) Refrigerated yogurt ranch (47%) Canned enchilada sauce (44%) Hope this helps someone. I'm actually glad they do not take credit cards, or debit cards. It keeps their prices low. Those bank charges affect the prices, so paying cash doesn't bother me. Good for them! I have been going to this WinCo for more than 8 years. I am a loyal customer & I always tell everyone I know to shop here because of all the amazing deals. I got a new bartending job which is a 45 minute drive away. I always like to stop at WinCo on the way home. They have this new rule for some reason... that nobody can use the bathroom late at night anymore... even though they are open for 24 hours. I have a very serious bladder condition & tonight, after a long day at work & a long drive- I left in tears without any of my groceries because the manager was completely heartless about my situation. Last time this happened to me a cashier made the exception... they all know me so well & understand my condition. I will no longer be stopping at WinCo on my way home. That means that almost every day of the week I will have to stop somewhere else. Shame on your heartless manager. I don't know her name but she is young & short with black hair. Just completely heartless. Couldn't even let me in the handicapped stall even though I technically am handicapped with this condition. Shame on you, WinCo. I stopped at Winco today, it has been years. I do not live close by but was in the area today so I decided to shop there. First off, the store front was horrible. There was enough litter right near walking in, out front, on the curb and the parking lot itself was just as bad. Seriously was atrocious with the amount of litter. The inside of the store, eh. I was reminded I was not missing anything by not shopping there. Some good deals, but not enough to make me drive out of my way to shop there nor any deals that any other store does not have. Get your crew outside and clean up your garbage. I cannot believe the store manager does not see this or maybe he does but does not care. I am so thrilled to find a store that is open 24 hrs. I will bag my own groceries, not a problem! I have never felt rushed by cashier or next in line. The split table that allows them to check out the next person while you bag your things is genius. The selection is always great and imagine how easy it is to social distance at 3am! The parking lot is safe and well lit. If your hours coincide with early early morning shopping, it is the place to go! We night shift workers thank you so much for being open 24 hrs. The selection of items in this store is amazing. It is a very large operation with every item you are use to seeing in any grocery store, including a great bakery, lots of bulk items, fresh, frozen, organic, name brands, their own winco brand which is great, you name it...they probably have it. Prices are very reasonable and they always have markdowns on something you need. I like the comparison shopping prices they post around the store. Well, this is just the cutest little WinCo! Yes it is! Despite being in... an "area", management have a handle on their parking lot and security. There's ample handicapped parking and parking in general. The lot is on a corner of the middle of the plaza making traffic flow, coming and especially going - super easy peesy! I absolutely love Winco! I have been a loyal customer to Winco starting in California over 15 years ago! What's not to love?! First off, they are opened 24 hours. So it accommodates everyone. Then they have some of the best prices. I'm not saying everything is cheaper here but they have a larger number of items that are cheaper then having to go to multiple stores. Lastly, they have a huge bulk section. Now most people think of bulk as large quantities, but I actually love it because I could buy smaller amounts. Especially the spices. I have a few recipes that requires an ingredient that I ONLY use for that recipe, so why buy a whole bottle. Besides what the store carries, the staff is always friendly and very helpful. We had a horrible experience with a cashier (old lady with dark greying hair) who was very rude. We tried with credit card, she made a snotty remark stating "That's a credit card." She also had a very rude harsh voice saying that we cannot pay with a credit card. Then proceeds to raise her voice while we trying to find a solution, then proceeds to yell at us to bag. Not only that but she rushed us even though, there was only 2 other people and the other party was cashed out already. If she cannot be nice, and professional then don't be in customer service. She was very disrespectful, and made us feel stupid as if we had known they did not accept credit. Everyone but her was nice. read more

I have shopped at this location since they opened and yes, if you shop carefully, you can find some great prices. What WinCo counts on however is that the majority of people don't shop carefully, so like other retailers they make up for the low-priced items by gouging you with some items that are priced 2-3 times what every other stores charges. One of the ways WinCo can sell cheap is logical, they have to buy cheap, so you will often find damaged goods on the shelf, wilted and rotting produce and perishables that are near or past their sell date. Here are some pricing examples within a 2 day period: a 5 pound bag of potatoes was twice as much as a 10 pound bag at Albertsons. A container of Dreyer's ice cream was twice as much as Fry's. Today there were 3 brands of the identical snack cracker ... two were major brand names and the third was WinCo's store brand. Guess which was most expensive? Yes, WinCo's own store brand. WinCo also thrives on the Costco mentality that the largest size should be the most economical. That's what they want you to think, but many times I have seen the cost-per-ounce substantially higher on the largest size. I don't expect any level of customer service or friendliness when I shop at WinCo and I get exactly what I pay for. Employees are constantly stocking the shelves but will rarely if ever move out of the way for a customer. Checkers rarely look at you or chat and often all you hear is an uninspired thank you after you pay them. As far as the "employee owned" thing that WinCo touts, just for grins ask an employee about that sometime. I did. I got a "yeah right, don't even go there" response. Doesn't sound like something they want to brag about, does it? And if this is such a great place to work, how do they explain that I rarely see the same employee's faces twice, there are only few faces I recognize from week-to-week whereas there are employees at the local Albertsons who have been there for years and many know me by name. I would think an "employee-owned" business would have much less turnover. BTW, on the subject of "employee owned" that WinCo yammers about non-stop, one of their people told me that they get minimum wage, minimum benefits and are not able to unionize because their employer classifies them as "owners". Doesn't sound very classy to me. I wonder about WinCo's overemphasis on their bulk section, which coincidentally is the same thing that WinCo plays up so much at social media sites. A large part of the bulk foods is candy. WinCo had 100% of my business since they opened this store. Now I shop carefully and if the quality is bad or the price too high I just keep walking and get those items at Fry's, Albertsons or WalMart. read more

I came here again for groceries with my teenage daughter this weekend since I received a $10 off of a $50 purchase coupon in the mail. (Yes!) It's a bit of a drive for me to get up here since I live nearer downtown Phoenix, but I think it's worth the drive if I go once a month or so. Firstly, I'll begin this review with perhaps my ONLY criticism of the store and that is that there isn't an apparent plastic bag recycling box at the front of the store like there are at so many other grocery stores. I just assumed there would be one and was caught off guard when I walked up there with my used bags and I couldn't find one. Oh well... So, anyway I was once again, dazzled by the enormous selection of various goods. Their selection in each department (including bulk goods) is so big that it's like a grocery store on steroids. And once again the prices were fabulous. Also, a new thing for me this time was the presence of some very friendly employees stationed around the store offering samples of the different goods that the store had on sale that day. My daughter and I sampled their whole wheat French bread and a garlic butter spread, a new type of cold cereal from Post, some toasted flat bread, some crab cakes, and finally some Progresso brand clam chowder. It was nice. The checkout process was efficient and the cashier was friendly and fast. He applied my $10 off of $50 coupon, then he asked me how many of my own bags I had brought so that he could credit my grocery bill for it. I don't know exactly how much credit you get for each reusable bag, but it's still awesome. My daughter bagged our groceries and before I knew it we were ready to leave. (And you say child labor like it's a bad thing...) We got out of there with a cart STUFFED to the brim with fresh produce, tons of meat, four gallons of milk and a dozen yogurts, several loaves of bread, plus a bunch of name brand grocery items (including two big bags of cat and dog food) for just about $120. In comparison, I estimate I would have spent about $150 for all that food at a competing grocery store. Score! read more

Winco Foods is the love child of Costco and Food 4 Less. I typically go here due to the fact that there is no need for a membership and the cost is incredibly low. It's a warehouse/grocery style of shopping with lower quality than Costco. They do carry bulk goods, fresh produce/meats/fish/poultry, regular grocery items, pet food/items, alcohol and house necessities (cleaning supplies). I only come here for certain things like: fresh ground peanut butter bulk flour, rice, raw almonds avocados, lemons, limes MREs Bread I've found some items to go bad way too quickly within the week I buy them or lack in quality. Don't expect much help when you come here. You also bag your own groceries, be forewarned to bring your own reusable bags or expect to double up or triple bag your items. The bags are very flimsy. The cashier I seem to always get is always friendly and quick ringing me up. They accept debit and cash here. No credit cards. read more

The best I can say is there are lower prices on many items compared to other grocery stores in the area and there are also convenient portions of deli items. What I don't like? Store seemed unorganized, food is in different sections through out, with household items in the middle. Bag your own groceries. It was a large shopping trip, I wasn't aware of the policy, and I was getting stared down for taking so long by other customers. Eeek!! Lacking in customer service- Didn't see anyone to ask a question to. Crowded. Long checkout lines. Many brands I've never seen elsewhere and I do go to many other discount stores. I'm very disappointed with how Winco is handling one of their employees that tested positive for the Coronavirus a couple days ago. I was in a check out line today when I over heard some employees talking about it. They haven't alerted their customers or the public about this event. So people think it's still safe to work and shop there. The employees were discussing how scared they are that they still have to show up for work after a positive case in their building. How is this safe or right? People deserve to know. Please do the right thing and quarantine your store for 14 days. Protect your customers and employees. Your employees and customers go home and then possibly infect their families and so on. I had always thought Winco was different then Walmart and other grocery stores. After hearing this though I have a lot of fears and doubts. I'm hoping I didn't bring any thing home. I live with my grandpa who already has cancer and I can't lose him. read more

When I first started coming to WinCo I would walk through the isles and marvel at how much lower the prices were on the exact same items I was buying elsewhere. After a couple years my jaw doesn't drop anymore, but I am still pleasantly surprised by the lower prices. It becomes apparent where WinCo is able to save money: warehouse style, bagging yourself, no credit cards, limited variety of items. These are all fine with me, but don't get hung up on the variety. They still have name brand, not just every kind. 1-2 name brand and 1-2 generic variations per item. Their produce is always terrific and so much cheaper than other places. How can they get away with selling bell peppers so cheap? They also have a great bulk item selection with items you wouldn't expect to be sold by the pound. I am so glad I discovered Wincos last year. I mostly shop for organic food and Wincos makes it affordable to buy organic. Why would I pay more for the exact product elsewhere? I did price comparison on organic eggs, milk and bread, (same brand) and it's more expensive at other stores. Why is it so cheap? They don't accept credit cards, only debit or cash. You bag your own groceries but they have two belts at each counter so you don't have to feel rushed to bag your own groceries. They don't advertise with flyers but once in a while you get coupons in the mail for free stuff or $10 off $50 coupons. Some people complain about produce but I don't think it's bad, it's definitely better than the local walmart. They recently added an organic produce section which is small but growing. They have an extensive bread section and carry tons of organic options too. I usually go to sprouts for additional produce like Okra or eggplant which is located close by. Cleaning supplies are well stocked and I have gotten wine from here too. But the personal care department lacks in options so I usually get my shampoo, conditioner, toiletries elsewhere. They have the basics and some popular brands but if you're picky, they might not carry what you want. read more

This morning the Manager Kim went above and beyond to make me and my boyfriend feel valued. He has health issues which was making it hard for him to breathe. She had asked him politely why he wasn't wearing a mask and he had informed her why. Meanwhile one of the other shoppers threw a fit about him not wearing it. If you have asthma and allergies and other issues it makes it hard to breath people need to be aware of this and it's not being selfish or uncaring about others. They also have fresh veggies, etc. as well as a choose and grind (or not) your own coffee section. I shop here occasionally for groceries. I find pretty good prices on produce. An occasional good deal on fresh deli meats. They don't have regular weekly sales, but they do offer specials throughout the store. Overall, it's clean, has a decent selection in each department and good prices. I have never seen this Winco so dirty. The parking lot was full of Carts. I had to put some carts in the cart parking spot to avoid damage to my car & other vehicles. I got there approx. 4am this morning. When i got inside this is what I found. Look at pics. So, i asked the only cashier to let the manager know about the shopping carts littering the parking lot and broken ones left. The young man said. They need new carts and that they are all gone. I want to give a shout out to Jake for amazing customer service. His action went above and beyond! So I hopped into WinCo tonight on some crutches to grab a few things. I grabbed a hand basket and hopped over to get some chili sauce and Jake offered to get me an electric cart. I refused stating that I'm only getting a few things and it is a quick trip. Jake then offered to do the shopping with me. So he took the basket and got the ranch and body soap for me. He offered to help me through the self check out, but I insisted that I can handle it from there. I am very grateful to Jake for making my quick grocery trip a pleasant and easy one. read more

However I had an issue with the store Manager and the way she chose to speak by cutting me off and kept saying "So" every time she made a point "So" and walked away by saying 'sooo" lol She gave me maybe 15 seconds of her time. My point is the sign that reads Christmas ITEMS 75% off Tag Price,small print says Discount will be taken off at Register. I bought a 10oz bag of Starbucks Holiday Blend that clearly is marked $2.98. Manager would not honor the 75% off she said the Vendor can change the price any time they want "SO" She also said the sign says 75% off original price "SO' i told her, That's not what the sign says. She said I am not going to change the vendors price "SO" and walked away. I paid the 50% off of $2.98 which is still a good deal BUT.. Paying $.75 would have been better than paying $1.49 Ea bag. First time coming here, and I have to say; I was impressed. They have plenty in the way of necessary household staples but not too much that you need to choose between 32 scents of dish soap. The bulk section was so much fun. Reminded me of Whole Foods but with way more options and probably lower prices. They also sell food storage supplies- buckets with Gamma Seal lids and other related supplies which I couldn't find anywhere else. All around, I much prefer this store to the Kroger nearby, the aisles are wide enough (with Covid) that social distancing is possible, and it seemed that they do a good job enforcing masks. read more

On 8/2/21 I purchased $45.70 worth of goods, receipt indicated $45.70 on my debit card, I used a cashier counter, the cashier said there was a problem and had re-enter my card, I thought everything was ok, today my Bank statement showed that I was charged twice (2 amounts of $45.70 in less than a minute apart) so now I have to try and get a $45.70 refund, I should have known better than use a cashier when there is self check outs available...Note be careful when you use a debit card at a cashier station.... Worse Winco I've ever been too in my life! I went to this Winco and checked out around 3 35pm on 11/12/2023 and the cashier that day was Kathleen, I've never been treated so disrespectfully and horribly by any employee at a Winco ever until I encountered this person. I was putting my items on the belt and had 2 go backs, I politely asked Kathleen if she can put my items back that I decided not to get that day she took the items and proceeded to say that she had no where to place them, I politely apologized to her mind you someone in front of me also had asked her to put her go backs away as well but I didn't hear her say anything to her at all so as she proceeded to scan my items I was still unloading my groceries, she then looked at me and said very rudely: you need to come around and start bagging these items, I then responded I'm still unloading my groceries on the belt and I have no one to help me but I'm almost done. She then proceeded to scan my items with a attitude and then said well you need to come around and bag these items. I then responded to her that she doesn't have to be rude and to please give me your manager, she then proceeded to tell me to quit lying on her and to quit making things up and then began throwing my items across the scanner and tossing it, the customers behind me saw how she was treating me as well, she then hit the total button without ringing up 2 more of my items and then I asked her for her manager and she said you go get her yourself, the customers behind me went and got the manager for me, I told Kathleen that she needed to ring up my additional 2 items that she haven't done yet, she then rang up those items and I paid for my first order because I had another separate order. After I paid for that order she then threw my receipt directly at me and then began ringing up my second order. The customers behind me stated they don't understand why she was being rude and nasty to me, they were even beginning to become very upset with how Kathleen was treating me. The manager came by and I explained to her what happend and the manager began helping me bag all of my groceries and then stated that she was going to coach Kathleen on how she treated me. I was appalled on her stating that she was going to coach her, that's insane that is not considered a coaching and should be treated way more then just that. Ma'am this employee is throwing your customers items across the belt and throwing the receipts in there face and that's a coaching to you? That's insane! I work for a corporate bank and if that was me treating my clients the way that employee treated me I would be gone! That is unacceptable and it's a disgrace that Winco have such people working in that store such as that employee, that was absolutely disgusting and I will never go back to that Winco ever again. read more

I enjoy doing my groceries here. I love the fact that they have bulk food from candy to baking items to pasta to granola. With that being said, you are able to get what you need when it comes to getting your food! They also have bulk spices as well. I also feel that their groceries are just as reasonable as any other stores within the valley. It is super clean at this store and they are always replenishing their food items. I also love this store because they are open 24/7, but when it comes to thanksgiving and Christmas there hours are shorten. read more
