One thing I always look for in a grocery store is this it clean? the store was very clean. The other thing is the staff, the staff were friendly and helpful and they were all wearing masks. It didn't have quite the items that I like in terms of organic but I think if I lived in the neighborhood it might be a place that I would shop. It has a traditional bakery shop which offers all kinds of items.

Their store made baked goods are the best. I recently got a birthday cake there & the decorations were so artistic & clever (flamingos). Plus delicious!

A digital touchscreen is available at the center of the deli counter to place an order while shopping. You can put in your name and phone number so they can text you when your sandwich is ready. You can then add options and customize your sandwich as you would like. Press finish and the order is sent into the deli. You pay after you pick up your sandwich at the front registers along with all of your other groceries. It was very convenient and easy for me to use, to pick up a quick lunch while I picked up some groceries. I ordered the number five, which was a roast beef deluxe sandwich with cheddar, avocado, and red onion on multigrain bread. This was a very tasty and satisfying sandwich that I enjoyed when I got home after unloading my groceries. It doesn't beat a Pub Sub. It's hard to find something comparable to the Publix Grocery Store deli on the East Coast but this comes close.

I can find my basic dairy, grains, produce and meats here for a good price, and shop for organic or health trend, and fun seasonal and specialty items for food, pets, sundries, the home, and gifts. They even have custom gift cards here for ~$1. Their floral selection is excellent with low prices. One thing that I do find has been true of Trader Joe's is the small parking lots. Luckily for us customers, they seem to be changing that lately. This location in Surprise on Grand has a large private, shared parking lot. There's a coffee grinder available if you want to grind your whole beans, restrooms for customers, a find-the-hidden-object game for kids, and stickers for kids. The checkers and staff at Trader Joe's are famously friendly and encouraged to wear quirky attire. Each register has a large brass bell to ring for assistance. End caps and posters are displayed using artsy chalk script with illustrations. Each store is customized for its geographical location. This is just a fun and unique place to supplement your normal grocery haul or pick up a gift. Beware - it gets crazy busy during holidays so plan ahead.

They're pruning trees, adding shrubbery... and have continued to raise prices, trying to sell the idea to customers that everything in the store has to be shipped from the Phoenix area, Horse feathers. Everything delivered to Safeway stores is shipped from somewhere. Everything. It doesn't come from a "one big national warehouse"... it all comes from warehouses scattered regionally and doesn't matter whether it's driven 40 miles across the Phoenix metropolitan area or to Wickenburg. Everything is transported, and it doesn't matter whether the store is "remote" and requires highway driving 26 minutes to get there (it takes longer for Safeway trucks to get to Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Tempe, Surprise, Santan, etc than it does to get to Wickenburg -- and the drive to Wickenburg has far fewer traffic bights than those listed. I had to do some shopping there due to a surprise visit from family our of town a few days ago, and stopped yesterday at a store in Surprise: checking 12 items purchased 4 days ago in Wickenburg, the mean prices of the identical items in Surprise were ~23% lower in Surprise. The Wickenburg manager this morning explained the price difference is due to shipping its stock long distances (a lie)... then insulted me with stating that senior citizens and veterans can both save on groceries one day a month... as if the veteran and retired community will wait to do their shopping on only two days per month. Interesting that over 65% of Wickenburg residents are retired (even higher percentages in towns like Congress, Yarnell, Kirkland)... yet Safeway prices are escalting even higher than the rate of inflation. All the work done to update the Wickenburg store's internal and external appearance ("image") is little more than putting lipstick on a pig.
