I grew up in this neighborhood. Came to this bar multiple times in the past, and my brother was a patron for years. So when my new boyfriend was given a free drink chip by someone, he couldn't wait to come by and play some pool. We showed up on Easter Sunday. It was pretty empty, except for a giant bunny earred bartender (who instigated most of what happened next), and a few customers, about six of whom were sitting at the bar. The bunny barwench first tried to hide my boyfriend's drink chip, then, as he was getting $5 of quarters out of the change machine, I accidentally lifted my que stick too far and it caught a ceiling fan. It was sudden, it was funny. I started laughing. The bar wench came out from behind the bar right away, started yelling, as did her posse of drunks who were sitting there, probably tipping, drinking and staring at her tits all day. So then they felt they needed to "interfere." My bf didn't even get the chance to pick up his change for pool, as we shoved out the door (which later a manager claimed we broke). We were walking away in the parking lot, and this gang of drunks were following us maliciously. I knew at one point they were about to attack my guy, so I told them they are not doing it without hitting me too. So one did. I fell to the ground, glasses and bracelets broken, sustaining serious injuries to my chin, jaw, and arm, as well as bruising all over. My bf was attacked too. I just remembered one coward jumping into a white truck and peering out as the cops were coming. We were asked if we wanted to press charges, we wanted to just be done with this, in shock, pumping blood and adrenaline. We walked down the street for a bit to calm down. When we returned, the police were gone, but our car was vandalized by someone either taking a baseball bat or a rock to the hood. I called two days later to see if bar management wanted to take any responsibility. I was treated like absolute shit, told they were going to press charges on me (why didn't they?), said we damaged the door (bs), and refused to give back $5. There. Posting this and the pictures. Dropped by here with a few friends and it's a very clean bar, with clean mens bathroom which is a nice surprise lol. The bartender was very nice and served us fast. I was able to use my app to play songs which is so convenient, but the speakers are either only around the pool tables and large space up front or the speakers were just super quiet because it was hard to hear a lot of the songs. They serve pizza and possibly some other food. We didnt try any , but is be open to trying out the pizza next time. read more

Great little hidden neighborhood bar. Not really a dive bar but some might say so. Baristas are always friendly and the beer is cold. I believe there is at least one pool table and a dart board. Not a sports bar but there are a number of TV's behind the bar and are usually tuned to sports events. Good and inexpensive drinks. Lot's of regulars in here so it's a hang out for some. Wish they had PBR tall boys on hand. Then I might visit more often. I don't believe they get PAC12 station in case you are a Sun Devil Fan. That would be a good add as well. read more

In my humble opinion, Baseline Pub is a 5 star dive bar ;0). This place is always clean, all of the staff I've met are great. I'll mention Beth specifically for being "an excellent salesperson" but everyone who works there have been great. The drinks are excellent, they have pool and darts, and the patrons are nice. I'm used to the cringe-worthy bar tabs that can be accrued while bar hopping in Tempe. After frequenting Baseline Pub on several occasions with my friends, I've been pleasantly suprised by their inexpensive drink selection and shot prices. This bar is a great dive. TV's, darts, pool tables, cool bartenders, great drink prices and always a fairly lively crowd. Not much else I can ask for. We stopped by the other night for my friends' birthday and I ordered a round of a very specific shot. When the shots arrived, it was easy to deduce that the bartender didn't know how to make the ones I asked for. I was happy to order another round of the correct mix, but she comp'd the round for us and kept the peanuts coming! We'll definitely be coming back soon. read more

The Baseline Pub is awesome. I have been coming here for some time and I am always satisfied. Now this place is a total dive bar, yet it has all of the intangibles: a hot bartender, good music, thick drinks and a cast of regulars that belong on a TV show. The pub is ringed by hi-def flat screens. They have a wide variety of sports on all day and they will be carrying the NFL package this season. There are 3 pool tables that you can usually get on without much of a wait. Electronic darts, Golden Tee Live and Big Game Hunter also available. Happy hour is pretty much all day long, you can get a tall Goose and tonic for $5.50 and the beer is pretty cheap too. They have several running specials on Jerimiah Sweet Tea etc., but I just stick with Vodka. Even at night the prices are more than reasonable. Stop by for a few and get to know the Pub. read more

If you're looking for a dive bar without the skeeze layered on thick, consider this gem. I know, why call it a dive if there aren't painted-up hussies propped on bar stools and you're not afraid to contract something lasting from touching the bathroom features? Because it's more like that neglected house down the street owned by the Cat Lady that has chipped paint and an overgrown yard, but when you stop there on Halloween she always has those awesome popcorn balls. Or that ottoman that's a little frayed around the edges and is patched with duct tape to keep the upholstery skirt on, but it's the comfiest damn foot rest. Despite the looks, the bar is a local watering hole that attracts your quirky neighbors. Someone brought in the pelt of a javelina they'd shot the day prior to show it off to his buddies. Ever seen one of those ugly things up close? You just might get the chance if you decide to check it out. Chuy's two doors down will serve as a neon-lit mecca for mass consumption, while Baseline Pub will remain the watering hole in the wall that's a little more mellow and a little rougher around the edges. Happy hour is twelve hours long, from ten to ten, so they don't really have any drink specials, but the prices are cheap so that's not really an issue. Plus there's the requisite pool tables that every good dive has, so you've got something to occupy your time in addition to conversation with the locals. The down side is that the mixed drinks are a bit on the weak side, so stick with beer. The music selection kind of sucks at times, with either country western or classic rock playing. (Cross your fingers for the classic rock.) The waitresses are pretty inattentive as well, so make sure there aren't any lapses in conversation, because silence sure drags long without something to quench your thirst. read more

Good Music, Decent Tables and Cool Dive Bar Since I was out on a hopping tour of Tempe area heading bar after bar. I thought I would give this place a try. I walked in got myself an orange juice some quarters for the pool table played a couple games and enjoy the fact that they actually had a decent music which was the only place I've been to tonight that I actually had music that didn't make me want to run away. The place was jumping with people everywhere. I was lucky when I got there to have a pool table ready for me. The female bartender seemed friendly, she didn't have too much to say but seem nice enough. I didn't stay long since the night was drawing on and I was starting to get a little bit tired. I've been to a few dives in Mesa (Septembers, Kirk's Sports Bar, etc.) this by far is probably the best dive I've been to. Reviews here are right--newbies (like by husband and I were) are treated like we frequented this place for years. Beth is fantastic, always has a smile on her face and is super sweet. My hubs and I have been here 2 times, both after work for a quick beer. Both times were pleasant. The bar atmosphere is pretty kickin' too. I love the rapport between the regulars, they can get a little rowdy but hey, its a BAR. Anyone new (like myself) can quickly see that the comradery is all in good fun with a group of people who really seem to know each other well. It is actually quite entertaining to watch! It really has a "Cheers" feeling to it in some ways. I can't wait to frequent this place more and be part of their crowd. Bottom line, I like this place. It will be my go-to watering hole for a quick one before I head home after work. read more

It shocks me that this place hasn't been reviewed yet. It's been a staple in the Mill/College/Baseline community for a long time now. BSP is one of those places where you go, you like it, but you realize something is missing and you just don't know what it is. I still don't know what it is and I first went there in 2002. The inside is very nice, tvs are situated nicely around the tables, food is okay and there is outdoor seating. I never find myself going here to watch games though or even to go grab a meal. I was here for an ALCS game in 2004 and it was the most packed I've ever seen it. I haven't seen it that way since, not even for football. Now I go in on a very irregular basis because various softball teams I played on have had their post games here. I notice on weeknights it has somewhat of a Cheers atmosphere. Regulars sitting up at the bar who know waitresses (who also double as bartenders) by name. I think the inside might just be too luxurious though. Furniture looks more like a restaurant and I think the average sports fan (and this is a sports bar) likes more of a dive bar feel. I couldn't understand why Doc & Eddy's, which is right up the road, gets far more patrons for sporting events. It's a more divey bar with similar food. I know it's got more to do with it than having pool tables and air hockey. The Woodshed is also walking distance to the west. I think BSP just toes the line between casual restaurant and sports bar and that might be what's hurting it. Looks like a place you might take your girlfriend for dinner rather than your buddies for a playoff game. It's so well situated between Kiwanis park and numerous apartment complexes that it should be far more popular during game times. Went to pop in for a quick drink to see what the bar was like. Service was incredible. Beth was a sweet heart came out to the table to greet us. Asked our names when we asked for hers, came and gave us attention often with the bar being pretty occupied. The bar was clean and had a great vibe to it. Run of the mill Dive bar. They don't have menus, but you can order from the adjacent Chinese place and they deliver. The Chinese food is damn good! Pool tables are worn and uneven but playable.
