Cod special with cheesy cauliflower grits - A seafood dish featuring a grilled piece of seafood, likely fish or shellfish, is presented on a white plate with a portion of creamy polenta. The dish is garnished with microgreens and accompanied by a green sauce with black crumbs. The plate is set on a wooden table, with a wine glass and utensils visible in the background.

My wife and I are members of our local fine dining club and bascules is probably our favorite restaurant on the card. We usually use both of our punches plus visit a 3rd or 4th time. We are never disappointed. This trip we tried something completely different and went the seafood route. I tried the cod special which was accompanied by an awesome Wasabi sauce. My wife tried the scallops. We never eat seafood outside of new England and this was really fantastic. We started our meal with the curry roasted cauliflower and pork belly tacos. Both had a perfect amount of heat and were also very good! As always we will be back!!

Gin Fizz - A table at Bascule Bridge Grille features a lemon cocktail with ice, lemon wedge, and herbs, along with two glasses of water and a beer. The restaurant's logo is printed on a menu placed on the table. The background includes additional glasses and a cozy dining setting, indicating a casual dining environment near the Strauss Bascule Bridge.

We love visiting Bascule for intimate dinners and special occasions! We always make a reservation. The atmosphere is warm and lively - laughter and conversation fill the air. The service is always very welcoming and thorough in making sure everyone at the table understands the various courses and specials. I'm always excited when the server is excited by my choice! I picked out someone's choice of wine it seems - and with good reason! The Sauvignon blanc was crisp and delicious. I tried the tomato artichoke tart first and the Gruyère cheese made that dish so creamy and satisfying! We tried the roasted turmeric cauliflower which was roasted just right. I loved the seasonality of all the menu items and love that they rotate it all regularly. If you're visiting Ashtabula for the day or longer, Bascule should definitely be in your dinner plans! Thank you for always hosting our large parties so patient and kindly!

Nice view from the tables in the bar area

Back again for our anniversary dinner. We started with the arrancini. Crisp and stuffed with peas and a bit of short rib, it was a great start. Next was the pea shoot salad with radishes and toasted almonds and a roasted strawberry vinaigrette. What a great summer salad! For our main course we each had one of the fish specials. I had the swordfish while my wife had the Halibut. Both came with your choice of side dishes. Both were cooked perfectly with a lemon burre blanc sauce. We paired this with a nice Spanish wine. Thanks Maya for the wonderful service. Also it was nice to see Brianna!

Fitzgerald's Wine Bar - Porterhouse steak with carrots and potatoes; the veggies were phenomenal

While wandering through downtown and taking pictures by the waterfront, we discovered this lovely…read morerestaurant. I was struck by the interesting architecture and proposed that we take a walk, which brought us to a delightful wine bar. We were very happy we decided to go inside! This historic location has a remarkable menu; I chose the walleye and walnut salad, and my partner had the ribs. There were many other dishes I wished we could try if we had been hungrier. The service was excellent, and the revitalized waterfront area is definitely worth exploring. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Street parking is ample. There was only one other couple dining when we were there and they also seemed to be having a great time. The restaurant seemed very adamant about reservations being made in advance either by phone or their website (their hours are very limited, so reserving online is much easier). The food is very tasty, though the options are very limited (4 entrees and 2 specials). I believe this allows the small staff to create really delicious, fresh, and special plates. You can tell they take pride in their food and put love into everything on the plate. The vegetarian special, the eggplant parmesan, was made with quality cheese and the pasta was wildly fresh. The steak meal had the most delicious bourbon glazed carrots I've ever eaten. The menu mentions the availability of vegan alternatives. Our server was excited to talk about the ingredients and cooking process and was attentive and kind the entire meal. She really worked to ensure that everything was perfect. The restaurant is on the second floor of the building (fairly steep stairs) with one or two tables downstairs in the gift shop area, so be very mindful if accessibility is a concern.

We ordered several cheese boards and a chocolate board to snack on while sipping, and they were absolutely beautiful and delicious (so good we took leftovers home!). The atmosphere was classy, clean, and incredibly relaxing; perfect for our special celebration. I worked with Rissa regarding our reservation and decorations, and she truly went above and beyond my expectations. Every woman in our group, especially the bride, was extremely impressed and satisfied. I would absolutely recommend Lagos and can't wait to come back to try their dinner offerings!!!

I had a table in the corner and got settled in with a book and ordered a Hugo Spritz. The cocktail was refreshing and light, and I really enjoyed it. I decided on a Cesar Salad, nothing too special there, but it was a generous size and fresh greens. I ordered a bowl of mussles, again, generous sized portion, and I liked that they had 2 preparations - garlic and white wine (always a good choice) or Diablo, and I went with the spicy tomato! The sauce was great, kind of spicy, with good crusty bread to dunk. The mussels themselves were OK, not the best quality seafood I've ever had, but still a nice dinner. And I also had the fried ravioli, which I cannot resist, ever, and dunked it in the spicy sauce. The house bread was a really nice foicaccia, with a confit garlic and butter to smear all over it. Really great. The service was excellent! She was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and also great at timing, kind of letting me hang out and enjoy my dinner. I'd probably go back to try some other fun menu items, and their chocolate and cocktail (and chocolate cocktail) menu is intriguing.

The beet salad wasn't my fav but it was ok. The chicken I would not recommend because it had literally no flavor and the whole thing was covered in arugula why My boyfriend loved the burger though! And I thought the wine was good This place wins in terms of ambiance, it's really gorgeous and feels exclusive. I just wish the food matched that vibe. We placed our drink order and waited...out came 2 glasses of wine, then the third and then the beer that was ordered. Also asked for lemon wedges for the water which came after the beer. Placed appetizers order of crab cakes and smash burger. Waited a bit and then placed order for two salads as part of our dinners. Salads came out before the appetizers. I must say the crab cakes were delicious (maybe not $26 delicious), the smash burger was ok, very greasy and fries were not very hot. My biggest disappointment was my entree, Parmesan Crusted Seabass which is one of my all time favorites that I order when I see it on the menu. The plate looked delicious but looks can be deceiving. The Seabass was more breaded than Parmesan crusted. Usually When I order this it is Seabass topped with shredded Parmesan cheese and baked, this was not that! Then the sauce that covered the spinach and potatoes and lobster pieces had red chili flakes added(which is not noted on the menu) which added "heat" to the dish that I was not expecting nor was I able to eat. For $55 I was very disappointed. No, I didn't mention this at the time as we were dining with family and I didn't want to disrupt the dinner by sending it back. Such a simple thing to note on the menu description! The short rib was the best entree of the table, nice portion and delicious sauce. The filet was tiny, maybe 4 oz. Definitely not anywhere near 8 in as stated on the menu and it was hard to find with all of the broccoli on the plate. We will be visiting family here again but definitely won't be back here. On another note, the music they were playing would be more suitable to a dance club than a venue such as this.
