I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife and our twins for our morning coffee. Every Sunday morning we try to hit up a new local coffee shop and on this morning we decided to go to Bertram House Bakery. This bakery is located inside a strip mall off of 19. On the morning that we were there it was a dreary day and I couldn't even tell it was open until we opened the doors. The inside of this bakery is nice with plenty of seating and lots of display spaces for their baked goods. After looking around I chose to go with a bear claw while my wife went with a croissant and our kids each chose a macaron. Then for my coffee I went with a large latte while my wife went with the caramel macchiato. The lady who was helping us here was awesome and really helped to make our visit much better than it would have been without her. My bear claw from here ended up being terrific as the puff pastry was super flaky and the filling was fantastic. Similarly, my wife also really enjoyed her croissant and my kids their macarons. However, Bartram House fell flat on their coffees. I can say that this was easily the worst coffee I have had in a while. It's not that the coffee itself was bad but I literally couldn't taste it and whenever I asked my wife to try mine she let me know that it tasted like drinking steamed milk. Hers was better because of the caramel flavoring but we still couldn't taste any coffee. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again for pastries but would definitely pass on the coffee. While the pastries themselves deserved a 4 rating and the customer service a 5, the coffee really dragged things down here.

Let me start by saying the ambiance is great. It feels like a bakery with a beautiful display. There is a pretty good amount of seating as well. The service wasn't the best. The woman who took our order was eating food while doing so. I understand that shifts are long and therefore don't care if employees eat during their shift; however, I don't really appreciate it while taking our order. Additionally, my cousin explained she can't consume dairy when ordering for help and end up getting the home fries as her side. When they were delivered to the table, she double checked with the food runner that they were ok and was informed that the potatoes were cooking in butter. All this to say, she didn't get a side. Also, one of our sides was put in wrong, so we had to send that back to get the correct one. The food was definitely not note worthy. My steak omelet was dry and the "steak" is like a step above hamburger meat. Don't get that as your protein!! The breakfast burrito had the opposite problem. As you can see in the photo, it was very wet and left a grease puddle. We did order a chai tea that was great, so there's that!! I won't be returning anytime soon which is very disappointing since I have such fond memories of breakfast here when I was younger. I'd suggest if you come here to just do drinks and pastries.

Bartram House Bakery is a great brunch spot with a variety of fun baked goods along with breakfast and lunch sandwiches that are delicious as well. The cinnamon roll was fluffy and sweet and I am also a big fan of the ham and cheese sandwich. I love going in the summer when I can take advantage of the outdoor seating.

I enjoyed the ambiance of the space. Came here for lunch and the staff were very friendly. The peoperjack grilled chicken wrap had a sauce on it. That was a bit too sweet and heavy handed. It overpowered the savoriness of the pepperjack cheese.that I was expecting. The Mac and cheese was good. My girlfriend's Cuban looked great and tasted better than my wrap. We got big goods afterwards, but I didn't find out until I got home that might be good. Order was mixed up and I got two of an item when I only ordered one and was missing something I ordered. I probably wouldn't get my sandwich again, but we definitely come back to try more of the menu and more of the baked goods.

I was in the area and needed a baked goods fix. The location is excellent and lots of parking. The store is very nice and clean. The staff where super friendly and very helpful. I ordered a chocolate croissant and a cheese bear claw. IT is a tough call which is better as they both where fantastic. I would definitely go back again when in the area.

Bella Christie's bakers and pastry chefs make cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and pastries. They even make custom cakes and event tables for weddings, birthdays, and other special events. Cakes are available in about a dozen flavors (e.g., vanilla, chocolate, banana, and hazelnut) with about a few dozen flavors of fillings (e.g., almond custard, mango mousse, raspberry jam, peach compote, espresso buttercream, and fruit). When I entered this business, I saw two display cases that were full of macarons, cheesecakes, mini cupcakes, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies. An employee immediately and kindly greeted me. As I was selecting my desserts, the employee carefully bagged and boxed them. She accurately rang up my purchase, and she thanked me. Here are my reviews for the desserts: Strawberry milkshake cookie - $2.75 - 4.5 stars - This cookie looked the prettiest in the display and had the most unique-sounding flavor. It was pink and had sprinkles and white chips mixed in. The cookie was a large size, and it was fresh and moist. I liked the strawberry flavor. Strawberry milkshake cupcake - $4.25 - 4.5 stars - Can you tell that I like strawberry milkshakes? :) This cupcake was a good size, and it consisted of moist pink cake that had strawberry pieces mixed in. It was topped with fresh, creamy strawberry and white icing with sprinkles. On top was a paper straw, and I put it in my mouth because I had assumed that it was white chocolate--oops! Lemon blueberry cupcake - $4.25 - 4.5 stars - This cupcake was also a good size. The cake was lemon yellow with a few blueberries mixed in. On top was a blueberry-flavored buttercream icing that was topped with two fresh blueberries and a lemon gummy. I enjoyed these flavors. Turtle cheesecake - $4.50 - No rating - My husband ate this cheesecake. He said, "It was fine." One additional thing that I noticed was that the plastic tray that held the cupcakes was type 6 plastic, which is not recyclable in our community. I wonder if the owners could explore other options for the tray.

We'd make a special trip just to get their items which says a lot for a Pittsburgher who has to cross a bridge to get there. We've stopped a couple times and have been disappointed, but hoped it was just a fluke. After a visit yesterday, I've officially given up hope of it being a temporary thing. We got a huge assortment of items, both scones, both muffins, all the cookies, different pastries, several different loaves of bread... and honestly nothing was worth eating so it all got tossed. I know they bake fresh daily, but somehow it all tasted stale? There also seems to be some sort of spice mixture that is used in most of the treats because they all have the overwhelmingly same flavor. Maybe nutmeg?Clove? Allspice? I'm not sure. Somehow neither the chocolate chip nor the chocolate cookie tasted chocolately despite a generous amount of chocolate in it. The spice flavor was overpowering and honestly clashed with the other flavors. The bread inclusions are also really disappointing. There was a very small, sometimes undetectable swirl of cinnamon sugar in the cinnamon sugar loaf. Their items are pricy, but I've always been willing to pay a premium for high quality ingredients and fresh items... but I'm not exaggerating when I say that every single item of the over $100 spent was thrown away. At this point, we won't be returning. While the actual items were lousy, the employees are always really friendly and helpful.
