A Gem Outside of Pittsburgh!…read more Just a short note of gratitude for Andrea and her team at Flour & Sugar Cakery in Seven Fields. I was so grateful to have discovered this amazing custom cakery just outside of Pittsburgh. My daughter had just begun her freshman year at Pitt and was celebrating her 19th birthday away from us and our home in NY for the first time. She had a vision for her cake, and I was so fortunate to find this gem of a bakery and its outstanding staff. Andrea and her team understood my daughter's vision for the cake inside and out and really hit it out of the park. It was exactly what she had envisioned and the attention to detail was amazing. While I didn't get to taste it myself, I heard from the many who did! The custom cookies-and-cream filling with yellow cake and fudge layering was described as "the best cake they ever tasted." I think that says it all! Well done, guys, and thank you for helping make my daughter's birthday away from home that much more special. I truly appreciated all the care and attention to detail. Highly recommend!

Hot Mama's Pierogies is a small, local business that makes ~22 flavors of pierogies as well as…read morespaghetti and fettuccini noodles. The pierogies are frozen and are sold by the dozen. During my visit to this store, a sign listed the following flavors of pierogies: potato and bacon, potato and cheddar broccoli, potato and spinach feta, potato and jalapeno bacon, potato and cheese, potato and garlic parmesan, potato and hot sausage, potato and sauerkraut, cheesesteak, Thanksgiving, just sauerkraut, sweet cheese, breakfast, apple pie, prune, buffalo chicken, pizza, bacon mac and cheese, and cheddar BBQ chicken. I bought one bag of frozen pierogies in the flavor of potato and cheese, and they cost $10. At home, I boiled the pierogies. I know that pierogies can be fried, but I did not want to add calories and grams of fat. These potato and cheese pierogies tasted very good, so I will rate this business as 5 stars. Of course, I have NOT tried their other flavors of pierogies, so I do not know if I would enjoy them or not. Please note that this business currently shares retail space with the Bebe Kakes bakery. Customers who purchase foods from these two businesses must make two separate transactions.

It also sells other foods such as breakfast sandwiches, coffees, and dog cookies. My husband and I shopped in this bakery one time. An employee immediately and kindly greeted us. It was a late morning on a Saturday, and the display cases were mostly stocked with baked goods. Unfortunately, the display cases had no signs to indicate what the baked goods were, so I felt unsure of what some of them were. I recommend that the bakery add signs with the names of the baked goods. I chose a cookie (5 stars) and a bear claw (4.5 stars). The total price was a few dollars including a tip. I have no idea what exact flavors they were! Perhaps I should have asked the employee. But they tasted great! If you want to eat here, some indoor tables and chairs were available.
