Dennis came to our home, charged us approximately $175.00 for an estimate. The repair work is quite a bit of work and costly, we are well aware. He reassured me his company could do the repairs and even continue to service our boiler. After receiving the estimate, I called and left Dennis a message on October 23, 2017, to have Broad Brook come do the repair work. As of November 14th, 2017 I have yet to hear from Broad Brook. I can't say I am impressed with this company. I definitely feel Dennis had no intention of seeing through with the repair work.

He was the first to respond and I let him go ahead and replace the air handler blower and add Freon for about $2000. The original blower was a Lennox. He replaced it with an ECM variable speed blower and he gave me no warranty. He just said "call me and I'll take care of you." The system failed within 10 days and I called him repeatedly with no response. Finally, I used my wife's cell phone and he picked up. He came and jump-started the system and charged me $261 for what should have been a free follow-up. So today 5-18-26 the blower was unresponsive the first time I used it this year. It did not last even 2 years. I called him to ask about a possible warranty but got no response. I ended up calling another contractor who installed a non-variable speed blower which came with a 4-year warranty and cost less than half the price to install. This kind is a way better option but for some reason Troy did not offer me the option.

We had an awful experience with this company. - They…read moreinstalled a defective furnace in our home that made a loud banging noise (likely a refurbished product). They gaslit us for weeks, saying we were imagining the noise. After multiple follow-ups initiated by us (they didn't want to fix it), they reluctantly admitted they heard the noise and installed the correct furnace. - According to the Town of Madison, Wilcox installed a water heater without obtaining the necessary permit for installation - proof they cut corners to save a few bucks at the expense of safety and compliance. - Upon requesting propane delivery, they delivered the propane to the wrong house (they are so incompetent that they couldn't even remember the house they delivered to), but sent us the bill! They acted like it was no big deal, showing complete disregard for the safe handling of dangerous gases. When they showed up at my house post-error (they assumed it was a gauge issue at first), they inexplicably didn't even bring propane with them to fill up the tank! Despite having "reliability" and a "commitment to customer satisfaction" plastered all over their website, the owner of the company said he "didn't have the authority" to make it right and offer a credit for the hassle and inconvenience. We were gaslit again, saying we were being too hard on them and wanted empathy for the team hustling amidst staffing issues. Based on our experience, this is a sketchy, dishonest and unreliable company despite the empty BS jargon on their website - not to mention their products and services are grossly overpriced compared to their competition. UPDATE BASED ON WILCOX DIATRIBE: In Julie's long-winded diatribe, she admits they installed a furnace that didn't work (even though she comically doesn't think "defective" is a fair word), didn't obtain a water heater permit (either before or after the installation) and delivered propane to the wrong address. She conveniently didn't address someone who claimed to be the "owner of the company" (who really wasn't) not having "authority to make it right," basically admitting their website jargon is complete BS. It would be lovely if Wilcox spent as much time doing their job (which they do very poorly) as they do writing encyclopedias in response to customer reviews. A little over a year ago my furnace started acting up. It was over 20 years old. I called 3 companies for quotes. 1 company was rude on the phone and 2 weeks later sent a very high price! The 2nd company said he was at least 4 months out and then sent his inflated price. A1 Oil was at my house the next day and gave me an incredible price and I signed right there. They were back at my house inside of a week later. I asked him how long it was going to take and he said most of the day. Well the walked at 7am and they were out the door before 1pm. Bob Laudette, owner of James Carboni Plumbing and Heating…read morefor over 33 years, was negligent in fulfilling his contract upon the installation of the furnace on December 3, 2019.  "ALL WORK WILL BE PERFORMED IN A NEAT AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER AND WILL MEET OR EXCEED ALL STATE AND LOCAL CODES."   Obviously he did not inspect the installation of the project on December 3 or he was not up to date on building codes.  The building inspector gave him 3 citations for code violations.The chimney clean out door was cemented ..a potential fire hazard. Contrary to Bob Laudette's explanation, the chimney was serviced prior to installation and given a stamp of approval!  The oil line was not protected properly and would cause a major oil leak if someone tripped over it and dislodged it; the duct work/ bonnet was installed with major gaps heating the basement to over 90 degrees. Besides the citations for code violations, Bob Laudette has ignored issues with the furnace and units: combustion issues with small explosions, malfunctioning humidifier, blower so powerful it rattles doors, oil leaks, filters to keep the blower working properly and to insure quality of inside air malfunctioning, extensive dust, uniform distribution of heat is deplorable with the basement heated at 90 degrees and the upstairs rooms are cold. All this for $7500? Now Bob Laudette wants to come and service the new furnace three months later after he ignored numerous calls in January and in fact cancelled a service call. At that point, I had to call reputable and licensed contractors to check out the furnace but the problems still persist. I contacted other agencies for help.  Consumer Protection who has limited authority suggested I pursue legal representation.  My mother, Amelia Wakely, expected and paid for what she thought was an up to date working oil furnace. Why would anyone keep a lemon; deal with a company who fails to treat a client in a professional manner or not at all; who does substandard work and delivers a defective product and writes they have a great business ethic!  Could Bob Laudette possibly service the furnace in the future if he can't deliver an up to date American Standard working furnace now? My mother wants her money returned, the furnace and so forth removed, and the mess they left cleaned up. Bob Laudette did not install a system free of charge out of the goodness of his heart. Lastly, my mother's health living under these conditions has deteriorated since the furnace was installed December 3,2019 . With the pandemic, the directive now is to shelter in the safety and comfort of your home. The safety of her home is a health hazard.
