I don't think the business is still in operation. State of CT licenses are inactive, but they still operate as if they are licensed, bonded and insured. They will not provide a contract and give you three days to rescind. I had Skip install a boiler. It has taken 20 days and now does not return to finish or return calls. I must get another plumber now. Skip was reported to the State of CT Department of Consumer Protection. He will be incarcerated and will owe three times the money he received. Last time they serviced, it took the guy 20 minutes and then there were soot coming out in great amount. Guess how much they charged? Doubled what they used to. This company does not care about your business, they will straight up lie and will not admit they are at fault. We asked for a technician to come and check our furnace that was not staying lit, they sent someone who didn't know what he was doing and after an hour of trying and causing a short circuit in the furnace he said he would be back next day with the owner. Next day came, and no one showed up. After a week of calling and the company making promises of coming to my house or not picking up the phone at all, I showed up to the office for the secretary to tell me the owner said he will not come to my house and they do not owe me anything. According to him he went to my house on the promised day, mind you my house has multiple cameras showing his guy coming in and out the day he made the mess, plus other videos of him "doing the job" but there's not a single footage of anybody else coming or approaching my door the next day or a phone call saying they were waiting. Not only I felt discriminated but also lied to and called a liar. I was not asking any favors as I was willing to pay whatever the company was supposed to charge me for the job as long as my kids have heat during the nights as my house gets really cold. read more

I highly not recommend,good ole skip looking to get rich quick. His tech Jim was a really impressive mechanic. He was there for 20 minutes,replaced my primary control with a beckett 7505. Receptionist called last Thursday and schedule for this Wednesday between 12-4. Morning of the appointment no one called. Around 255 I called to make sure it would be fixed today and the lady said " you won't be charged any extra if it's after four" 5 pm rolled around no one called or came. I called and got answering service who had a tech call me. The tech said he knew nothing about my sink being fixed. He said he would have someone call me in the am and I let him know I'm going to talk to my property manager and see if I can go else where. He apologized and gave reasons as to why this could have happened. Either way it's ridiculous. Next morning I called and was told the owner would call me and he never did, (rich is his name). Well after ten it was going to answering service. No one ever called to apologize or make it right. Just horrible. Take your business else where. read more

So there is a person named Melissa who works for SLS who apparently thinks it's appropriate to yell and at hang up on customers. They sent someone to our place today to "fix the heat" and they did not call us and went to the wrong unit. Melissa told me that that was my fault and that she would not discuss anything with me because I am not the home owner. She told me I was "slinging insults" because I asked how the repair person didn't understand where the 3rd unit was. It is November our hear doesn't work and this woman verbally assaulted me over a mistake her company made. I have never dealt with a more volatile customer service rep ever. I do not recommend these people to anyone. Obviously Melissa is an angry person with no common decency and if that's who SLS has dealing with their customers I can only assume that it's a poor company with little integrity. read more

No heat. January. Saturday morning. Cold! Years ago, SLS did some work for me at a place in Waterford. I gave them a call to see if they'd do a job in Stonington. First plus, a human being answered the phone. Second plus, the on-call technician called me back before I could finish a cup of coffee. Third plus, he was already on a call in the town and was at the house within 5 minutes. 90 minutes later, my burner was serviced and problem solved. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If I could give SLS heating minus stars I would! Over the course of 3 years I had them cleaning our boiler . There were other issues that needed to be dealt with. There was an exhaust that was melting our siding, eventually a coil also needed to be replaced. Each time I called, I got the run around from the office staff about when parts were being ordered, if they were ordered, where they were... They were completely clueless. Time and time again I got the run around with techs coming out and "inspecting" the boiler for the parts needed as my boiler slowly disintegrated with even more issues developing over time. On several occasions I asked to speak with the owner who never returned my call. I had put so much money out with the service calls and cleanings that I wanted to stick with them, hoping they would come through. Finally, I was fed up and called a different company. The new company ( see my other reviews ) quickly identified all of the issues including a valve that should have been capped and was not. This uncapped valve was allowing carbon monoxide to leak into our basement. It was very easily identified by the other company, yet SLS never said a thing. I now have my boiler repaired , no thanks to SLS. Come to find out? My boiler had not ever been properly cleaned by SLS either! Apparently they just swept it off and made it look clean. WTF! It blows my mind that in this day and age a company can stay afloat with such incredibly incompetent service. The front office staff is rude and there appears to be ZERO communication between the service technicians who would come out, be polite and friendly... Seemed to know what they were talking about and say "The office will call you" . Then, when the "office" doesn't call and you call them???? They act like they have no idea what you are talking about! I won't be using SLS Heating again. I've heard that Densmore Oil, Uncasville Oil, and Benvenuti have better customer service so I'll be trying one of them for my future needs. After the woman at the front desk was very rude, sarcastic, and raised her voice at me several times I asked to speak with someone else. They were supposed to call me back to resolve the issue and haven't. I called SLS Heating at 8:55 AM on 4/18/18 for a furnace that wasn't going on in a business I own which is heated with an oil furnace. They were recommended to me by my oil company for repairs. When I called, I asked the lady her name, she told me it's Christina. I explained to Christina that I couldn't not be there since I was traveling. I gave her the code to the furnace room which is accessible from the outside and asked her to please have the repair person call me after he/she diagnosis the furnace to let me know what the problem is and the cost to repair it. Christina told me someone will be out there by noon. Perfect, I thought to my self. Since I didn't receive a call from anyone by 4 PM, I called Christina and she informed me that she will not know what the results of the visit till the next morning. I informed her that our agreement was that the tech would call me after he/she looks at the furnace to let me know what the repair would cost. She rudely said that if I haven't received a call, then the tech hasn't been out there yet but should be out any minute and that there's $149.00 fee to diagnose the problem and then said that "she has a lot of calls coming in" and hung up on me. Astonished that not only she never mentioned the fee upfront, and if that fee would be subtracted from any work done, but then she hung up on me. Needless to say, I called back and told her not to bother sending someone out. I thought my aggravation was over, I was wrong. 10 minutes later a person called me (it sounded like a man with a feminine voice) to inform me that he was there working on the boiler, called me a name that I cannot mention and hung up on me. What SLS doesn't realize is that I have cameras that record every inch of my property. Instead of this person calling me to apologize and ask how the company could make it up to me, he chose to waste his/her time to lie and swear at me. I guess I have to call my oil company and mention to them what happened, hopefully they could re-consider their business relationship with SLS. read more

DO NOT USE. I asked for a copy of an invoice/receipt fr service they did in October. Ive called and asked three times. Once I was told she'd send it to my email. The second time I was told she forgot and would do it. The third time I was told "it was on her list." It's February. Also in this phone call there seemed to be a little inaccuracy around a scheduled appt for a furnace cleaning. So, we rescheduled it for this morning, a windw of 8:30-12:00. This is the first time I've used this company to service my boiler. They did a repair job that was fine but I've called four times to get a copy of my invoice, the first time having paid it over the phone with my credit card and they have yet to send me my receipt. The lady who answers the phone keeps telling me she will get to it and has yet to follow up. I've yet to see the charge on my invoice. Recently, my tenant had a service call for an annual check and they stood him up, said he wasn't on their calendar despite having this scheduled for months. Do not use this company! read more

i've had these guys out of my house on 2 separate occasions. one while i was there and one i was not. i currently don't have time to play mr fix it with my oil burner so i called these guys up to do a basic cleaning. i was told on the phone that cleaning is a flat rate job of 160. which i found reasonable and agreed. now my garage is my man cave, tools galore, metal fabrication, wood working and spare parts. i've amassed quite the collection over the years but i don't have time to fix the furnace. I have so many tools i have a cloud based security system monitor the door to this garage. In walks mr. HVAC tech. i'm alerted at work that someone entered, me and my wife check on him from our phones at work. I say great, he's on time and we'll get fixed up. well some time goes by and i get another notification that he's still there. so i decide to start watching more intently, i noticed the tech bringing in tools one at a time several times in the garage. i've seen some techs work on my furnace in my day, they bring a big 5 gallon bucket in and vacuum and go to town. apparently this guy miss that day of class. alright, no big deal. eventually he leaves. this is when the fun starts. i get a bill in the mail which i was shocked because i gave them my full credit card to the lady on the phone when i called. the bill stated extra time and an additional 6$ part. now the anger sets in. i called up and made the person quite aware that i watched him work on my camera some of the time. she said she would make the manager aware of his behavior bringing in 1 tool at a time. okay great. so the 6$ part that they replaced was a used part and i found my fully functioning part on the ground under a toolbox! i complained about the extra time and i was fought over the phone by the person who answered. she said its not flat rate its time and materials. i would seriously like to know what the tech was thinking when he looked around and saw all these tools and equipment? perhaps this customer would have some knowledge and understanding of mechanics and systems? but lets be honest he's just trying to fill his 8 hour day with 100% billable time because of his lack of skills and demand for business. i know how it goes i'm in the service industry myself. But at the end of the day you have to do the right thing. read more

Used SLS for repairing a furnace in a crunch at one of my rental properties. Instead of correcting the issue they caused additional issues with the heating system. They left open the gas valve which led to the house overheating and put non needed stress on the heating system as well as depletion of propane during semi warm weather. When contacting SLS in regards to the issue they caused I received the same treatment others have reported on Yelp as well. They refused to stand by their work and correct a wrong by partial reimbursing/credit for over usage on propane due to their service error. Would recommend anyone to do their research on this company and go with others. Not only do they charge a premium as based on other reviews have a history of poor quality service provided, they also treat their clients horribly. read more

If they had negative stars for customer service, I would use them. I scheduled our furnace cleaning as well as technician capping at the furnace of unwanted pex lines. It was a 15 minute conversation full of detail. Two plumbers were to arrive for the call. On the date of the call one cleaner arrived. Upon calling the office, the same pleasant person answered and apologized for the confusion and said someone would be out by 4:30. Never showed up!! Called at 5pm, and spoke with a rude, insulting second shift staffer. I can't even begin with details....I must not have been clear, I changed the order, no, I could not be first call in the morning as they had others scheduled. (apparently, the fact they didn't arrive for 2 calls at my home wasn't important) The best she could offer was an 8-12p window... When I stated that there should be a reduced rate for the call she stated she could offer me a coupon for my trouble but wouldn't apologize for the inconvenience. When I stated she could keep her coupon as I would not be using them again in the future, she literally GROWLED into the phone and asked if I really wanted them to come the next day. Can you believe it??? If you are good with it being a crap shoot whether they'll show up and are ok with waiting at home for hours (because, you know, you have nothing better to do, like earn a living) then by all means use SLS. read more
