We have engaged Bartlett Tree Service for several years now and are extremely impressed with the professionalism, responsiveness and competence of our representative, Patrick Hershmann. He has saved several trees that we might have taken down through his proactive approach. I did not realize our large inventory of azaleas had a fungus which he has treated successfully - this spring our garden was glorious! Cannot recommend Patrick and his team highly enough! read more

Excellent service and much more reasonable than others in this area. Work is excellent. Clean up is great. People are super nice.

Bartlett Tree is the best ever tree service company! With an expert arborist (Kurt) to guide and advise you for the best results. Had 2 very large Pin Oak Trees trimmed of numerous large dead branches and a brace installed to provide branch support overhanging the house. Two crews did the work (Oscar & 2 others using a cherry picker did the street side tree and Teo & 2 others did the brace work and trimming near the house). Excellent work by both teams and did a great job removing all debris & cleaning yard afterwards too. Highly recommended. read more

Bartlett Tree Experts - Looking good now - Tree Services Near Me - Springfield, Virginia

Saved several trees and trust them for care and advice. In face coming tomorrow to help my yellow maple

I had Bartlett Tree Experts come give me an estimate to get rid of 2 silver maples in my backyard. When I received the estimate I was sure it was wrong because it was WAY more than the other 2 estimates I had received. The estimate also had the trees documented as red maples when in fact they are silver maples. I emailed Warner Winthrop (the estimator) back and asked if the estimate was correct because of the price and species, I never heard anything back. The estimate I received from Bartlett was $3,900, the other 2 estimates I received were $1,600 and $1,800. Bartlett's estimate is more than the other two estimates combined! That's outrageous! I won't be calling on them again. read more

We have many large oak trees in our yard along with other trees. I asked my neighbors and several recommended Bartlett. Josh comes to my yard to both inspect the trees to make sure that they're healthy and remove trees that need to be taken down. We had a moderate sized tree in the backyard that turned brown over the course of a week. Josh came out, couldn't figure out why the tree died. The crew came out within a week and removed the tree flush down to the ground within 2 hours. We had a gorgeous red oak, 45 feet tall, that was starting to lean over into the street. Slowly but surely it was leaning and would likely fall and crash into the neighbors house. Josh came out and agreed that it needed to be removed. It took a while, but a crew of 4 came with several trucks including a cherry picker. It took them 10 hours to first trim the branches and finally cut the nearly 4 foot diameter trunk. They did the job with real care and concern to avoid harming other plants in my yard around the tree and of course anything next door or across the street. The job was done in an extremely professional manner, the crew communicated with me throughout the day, and they cleaned up really well after the tree was removed. It is not an inexpensive process. But the liability involved if a tree should damage a neighbors home is real. One important tip: make sure that you ask them to put all of the owners of the property on their insurance form so that you are covered should disaster strike. Thankfully, we had absolutely no issue. I am completely satisfied. read more

This company has process and communication issues. A service was schedule for our home and when the rep arrived she said she wasn't sure which trees to treat and would need to call the office (alarming for arborists, I know). I thought she was going to her car to call but she leaves instead. I call the office to explain and they say they'll send someone out. I do not have any further contact from them until I get a bill. I work from home and know no one came to the home so I check our security cameras for the date of service to confirm. Then I call and explain this to someone who is belligerent and hangs up on me. For weeks I hear nothing until another bill arrives. I call again. I'm told they'll correct it. Then I get a call from someone and explain the situation again. I'm told they'll look into it. Again, I hear nothing and then get another bill. Months later, thankfully, this has all finally been resolved thanks to a very helpful woman named Melissa so I'm updating my review and rating in gratitude of her service. While their arborists are very skilled and have a depth of knowledgeable, this experience causes me to recommend another service. If you use them know they have a practice of no-shows and billing for services they did not complete so make sure you are getting what you've paid for. read more

We had three chestnut oaks that had to come down, two of which required climbing to bring them down in sections and avoid crushing existing landscaping. Heath came out to provide an estimate within two days, which we found more than acceptable based on two other estimates, and was clearly an arborist with solid background and relevant education. The three-man crew from Bartlett arrived within a week and were outstanding -- punctual (to the minute), professional, friendly and extremely safety-conscious. They had the trees down and sawed into sections for us within three hours, cleaned up the surrounding areas and were on their way. It was a pleasure watching them work and we would most strongly recommend them for anyone looking for arborist services. read more

We've used them several times for rather difficult jobs on our oak and maple trees, they've always done thorough and very professional jobs; they are cheerful and joke through the dangerous climbing. They clean up very carefully. Our two oak trees were 60 and 80 feet tall that are suffering with the change in temperatures. The taller one had to come down completely years ago along with a 40-foot maple tree that got attacked by fungus--both perfectly done. We still use Barlett to do the pruning of the 60-foot tree, just this month. They are not the least costly, but they definitely earn the pay, give good advice, and care about preserving these trees. Give them a call, you won't regret it. read more

We've used Bartlett a couple times. It's always been a hassle to get them to come back on time and do the work they quoted. Last time I asked them to cut back some branches from one of our trees because it was hanging over our neighbor's house. It took months (maybe 3) for them to finally come back and do the work in our estimate and that was only after numerous emails from me and a couple calls to see when they were coming. When they finally did the work in our yard, they skipped the branches hanging over our neighbor's house. When I complained the response I got was "well, are your neighbors complaining?" As if they didn't have to do the work because my neighbors weren't complaining about my tree yet! After that I decided I wouldn't use them again but then a year went by and I got a call from the office asking if I wanted to schedule an estimate for some annual maintenance. I just didn't have the time to go schedule the same work with another company so I took them up on the estimate. When the arborist came out he was unnecessarily rude and told me my insurance policy that requires that I keep branches from overhanging my house was illegal--as if he were a lawyer or as if an insurance company would be prohibited from limiting it's coverage. Needless to say, my opinion of these guys is very low and I strongly recommend that you not hire them. read more

I hired Bartlett to survey my trees and they were easy to schedule and showed up on time. Matt C., an arborist, gave good advice and quotes for further work. He offered to come back in the winter when all the leaves are off for another visual inspection, which I thought represented a thorough approach from someone who wanted to gather as much info as they could for making good decisions. We decided to delay the more expensive trimming work and soil analysis/treatments for now and instead hired Bartlett to install 4 cables in 2 trees. The crew that arrived was professional and efficient and cleaned up the area when they finished. I'm happy with the work and feel safer now that the cables have provided more structure to the trees. read more

Bartlett provided outstanding advice and service with respect to the large tree that fell on our house and the other trees on our property. Their representative was very knowledgable about our trees and their issues. The crew was pleasant, efficient, and thorough. They arrived on time and removed the trees in a timely manner. Bartlett followed up to make sure that everything needed to be done was completed to our satisfaction. We are very grateful for their excellent services and very quick response during our emergency. We definitely will recommend Bartlett to others. read more

Negative side: My husband referred me to Bartlett. They dont ans their phones and I only get voicemail. They are always putting down my husbands name on the invoice and not the wife's. I even changed it electronically and sent it back to the Rep Mr. Teague. Rep went behind by back and was trying to schedule service with my husband. We have clarified that. I electronically changed the invoice to my name, pbone and email address. I signed/scanned it and forwarded back to the rep. Office never updated my information. Again I received the final invoice and no one in office did name change, telephone or email address change. Ive been upset 2-3 times with this company. Im contacting the Manager Margo and communicating/upset that the invoice is still wrong, she will email me the corrected invoice and closing out the account. I offered to personally come to their office to enter my own info. I communicated I dont want them to come back. Positive side: the crew was exceptionally professional, great team building, and cut the tree into mulch and trunk pieces. The Rep was nice and professional. read more

Bartlett Tree Experts have taken care of our trees for nearly 30 years. They feed them twice a year and have pruned many of them several times. Today, two of their most seasoned workers, Jose and Wilbur, arrived to prune our Tulip Poplar and our Black Cherry. They began with the Black Cherry and quickly realized that, much to our dismay, the Black Cherry is dead. We have loved the fragrance of the flowers on this tree as well as the shade it provided us in the afternoon. Sadly, they determined the best action was to remove the tree - no easy task! They sawed off small portions working their way down and saving the larger pieces for our neighbor, who has a fireplace. While it was painful to watch, we know that the workers at Bartlett are taking good care of us! read more

We chose Bartlett Tree Experts back in 1983, when we moved into our home. Our next door neighbor used their services, and we were impressed with the quality of the work and the effort made to clean up afterwords. We have not been disappointed. I started using Bartlett and Heath Baumann ever since my neighbor recommended them. I have used other tree companies in the past but none as honest and with such expert advice as Heath has given us. He helped save a tree my husband had a particular fondness for but was looking grim; a landscape designer had advised us to cut it down. Heath knows what he's talking about and I never feel like he is trying to "up-sell" me on any services which is why I trust him to give me his honest opinion. read more

We are extremely pleased with Bartlett Tree Experts. They have been very responsive to our tree and shrub needs. Kurt Mohr is a professional whose expert knowledge and advice is top shelf. We are very pleased with his recommendations as well as with the great job the team is doing in implementing them. After working with other local tree companies, we made the switch to Bartlett upon the recommendation of our landscape architect. We requested, and Kurt came through, with a targeted, comprehensive plan that included providing for health and longevity of our very old and very tall Hemlocks, our Hollies, a large tree with branches that over-hang the house - in addition to addressing various concerns about shrubs and plants. We highly recommend Bartlett Tree Experts. read more

Barlett has been treating my dogwood for anthracnose for the past two years and have been able to keep my beautiful tree alive. I hired them to trim up a 25 year old holly on the side of my house (in front), remove some invasive shrubs and trim winterberry shrubs. Matt Coughlin was responsive, talked me through options, scheduled the work, advised me a week ahead of time and had his crew call me 30 minutes before arrival. Not every service does this. The crew knew what they were doing and trimmed up the holly beautifully, removed and trimmed the shrubs and cleaned up everything so it didn't even look like they had been there. They are a bit more expensive, but they know what they are doing and it is worth it to me. read more

These folks know what they are doing. We had them work on a big maple and pin oak that require workers to go up high, safely. Their work keeps our trees healthy while reducing hazards to our home. Unlike many landscape companies, they know how to properly trim back crape mrytle trees. Yes, you pay for this expertise, but it is worth it. Patrick made some excellent suggestions for ornamental plantings and trees around our decorative pond, which we will be implementing over time. read more

We have used Barlett Tree Experts several times, and we couldn't be happier with the quality of the service provided. They always showed up on time, whether it was coming out to give us a cost estimate for the work requested or doing the work. Often they were able to do the work within a few days of contacting them. Their work crews always did exactly the work requested, and performed the work professionally and quickly. On several occasions there was a need to avoid hitting objects directly below where the tree cutting was being done, and each time the workers expertly dropped the branches so that they avoided doing any damage. They are absolute masters at precisely cutting and dropping branches and trees. As for cleanup, the workers remove all debris, and leave hardly a twig or leaf behind. One thing we particularly appreciate is the willingness of Bartlett to make changes in the work requested on the fly, and the expert advice they provide on making the wisest decisions on trimming and removing trees. We are absolutely committed to using Bartlett whenever we have tree work that needs to be done. read more

Sina inspires confidence in Bartlett not only in his command of the many issues that could be affecting our plantings, but more importantly his willingness to consult with other specialists on your team (such as Dr. Brantley (sp?)) when there is even a scintilla of doubt about the problem. He is easy to talk with and is a very valuable asset to Bartlett in our opinion. Tyler, the Bartlett technician who regularly provides treatments of the annual program is also very clearly skilled and helpful. Recent trimming work was done by Eli and Mark. In anticipation of the arrival of the trimming crew I had expected to be required to more involved to direct the job. However, again I was pleasantly surprised with Eli's skill and knowledge of the objectives in pruning a relatively recent added specimen, a Copper Beech tree. All considered I would prefer to only have Bartlett service provided by each of the representatives I have just mentioned. Everyone at Bartlett who has serviced our property have practiced safety in all aspects of their work. Their skilled work does not come inexpensively, but if you want consummate professionals who leave your property in better condition than before they commenced their work, Bartlett is the best in the industry in our opinion. read more

I have used many tree services companies over the last 45 years of home ownership. Pleased with some, mostly not. Pricing was normally outrageously high for mediocre performance. Then my wife discovered Bartlett and Tom Teets, their Dir for VA operations. He is an arborist and a school degreed plant pathologist- a rare combination of skill sets. We have an old and very beautiful Red Maple that appeared to have scale. Tom arrived, after a wait of about 3 weeks, and diagnosed not only this tree, every other tree that had any kind of disease, about 13 in all. He displayed amazing expertise, answered all questions and instilled confidence that he knew what he was talking about. Our contract involved spraying the affected trees/shrubs twice (May and July), removing and grinding two trees that were beyond saving. We have added more work based on the exceptional performance, and in today's world of high pricing for everything, a beautiful price tag. Bartlett has shown itself to be heads and shoulders above a score of other mediocre to poor tree service companies, and as long as Tom is our contact, we will continue to use them for all our tree needs. read more
