Randy is responsive, reasonable and his crews did a great job when I needed 4 dead trees removed from my yard. They also canopyed all my trees and did a bunch of clean up I didn't want to do myself. His guys kicked ass and my neighbors were asking me for his number after seeing the end results. Highly recommend Bartholomew Tree Service. read more

We had a tree branch fall from a recent storm. Looked small but when I tried to move it, it was heavy. After calling 3 other companies who gave outrageous quotes, Randy came and looked at the job. He gave me a reasonable estimate as well as an estimate for tree trimming and removal. The guys were here in 5 minutes and they cleaned up after everything was shredded. Great service, Randy answered all of my questions. I'll definitely be using them again and recommending. read more

I found this company 7-8 years ago when I needed a dead tree removed. I had an amazing experience with them and left a yelp review. And I've used them a few times since then. But I'm writing this review now after a recent storm took out a substantial branch in the front yard. Randy was my first call and usually my ONLY call. Incredibly knowledgeable, great team working for him, they work quickly, do a great clean up job, always reasonable prices and he is great to work with (friendly, nice and responsive). As if that wasn't enough, he doesn't try to squeeze you for every dollar you've got. No upselling, no pressure. In fact, he recommended 2 years ago to trim a branch he didn't like. He said it was dying and the tree had been struck by lightning at some point and there was structural damage to it that he felt was a liability. It looked OK to me and I had spent money on other tree trimming work so I passed on it. MISTAKE. This is the branch that feel in the front yard from a recent storm. He knows his stuff. You can trust him. Not many people like that out there these days which is what compelled me to write another review. Thanks, Randy! read more

I reached out to Bartholomew based on recommendation from nextdoor. Randy was quick to come and give me a quote. He even came back to re-quote after I added a few more branches to the job. His quote was similar to others quote that I got but I chose him based on his prompt responses and his knowledge about various trees. He also recommended and connected me with an arborist to treat the ash tree in my front yard. The guys were able to come next day and did a great job. They also cleaned up nicely. read more

I have used Bartholomew Tree Service for multiple tree trimmings for a humongous Elm tree in our backyard and they have always been professional and trustworthy and fair priced. Years later finally a storm brought down a huge branch on top of the garage and it was time for the whole tree to come down as after time the Elm had finally rotted on the inside and became a danger to the home and garage. Randy the owner diagnosed the issue correctly in detail like a doctor and his team did an outstanding job bringing down this huge tree that was in the back yard surrounded closely by house and garage, back deck and electrical wires. There was no room for error and all when smoothly. Afterward they did a great clean up job and made sure no after tree residue was left and were very considerate of the neighbors property. I highly recommend Bartholomew Tree Service. read more

Prompt, professional and best price! The crew removed 2 front, 1 backyard dead ash trees, and trimmed left side tree limbs too close to our house. Randy came as agreed and provided an estimate right on the spot. Not only he beat others estimate, he helped with a village permit which was quickly approved and work began in couple of days after. Highly recommend! Very happy and will reach out if need in the future. read more

Yesterday, I had a large tree limb fall during the storm and I called Randy. He was out to my house in less than 10 minutes. He made an assessment of the damage and suggested removing a larger limb on the tree. The crew was here first thing in the morning and did an excellent job with the removal of the fallen limb and taking off a larger limb. THey worked efficiently and with care. They cleaned up the area and everything is looking great! I have used Bartholomew in the past but this was an emergency situation and the response put me at ease and today I am greatly relieved and grateful for Randy and his crew! Christine M. Randy and his crew did an excellent job. Great communication, clear and upfront pricing, and swift and skilled execution. 100% came through, would use them again, and recommend their services! read more

I heard about Bartholomew when I drove past a neighbor's house and saw the trucks. I used to just have the guys who mow the lawn plant and trim my trees. But, over the years the trees have grown and become so part of the garden that I wanted them to look their best. Plus, they would cost a fortune to replace if they weren't healthy. So I called the company and the owner stopped by for an estimate. He walked around the house, and noticed everything! Then, he gave me an estimate for the trees, plus other bushes and stuff that could be improved, and the estimate was almost half what I expected for the original work I called about. I am really pleased with the great work and will call every year to make sure all the trees in my yard stay healthy. read more

Due to a recent storm, part of our tree snapped and fell on to our roof. Randy was actually working on a neighbors tree, when he saw our house. His team was able to remove the broken branch and salvage the tree including taking special care to keep our tree swing branch safe. His team cleaned up all the fallen tree branches and leaves, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will be recommending them to everyone. read more

I have used Bartholomew's tree service several times in the past few years. He is one of the nicest and most reasonable company despite his extensive knowledge and years in the business. Not only has Randy laid 15 yards of mulch in my yard, he has cared for my trees after a storm, removed debris and saving me a lot of back breaking work. Last winter I hired Barholomew's to plow my driveway, as I am older and not as strong as I used to be. Despite the enormous amount of snow, Randy always completed the job. Highly recommend Bartholomew's Tree Service! read more

This is the second time we've used Bartholomew Tree Service and twice we've come out quite pleased. Another great review for these guys. Estimate was good, they were all super nice and organized and the clean up left the yard looking better than it was before they started! Just finished a job at my place and it was great! Came for the estimate and took his time talking to me about everything! I have a 2.5 acre lot with some 70 trees on my property. That was really the best part because I felt like I got to know him and see that he wasn't just trying to sell me a job. He even told me how to take care of my own trees without selling me a service. He took care of my tree removal quickly and at a great price. Would recommend to anyone. Service with a smile. Also helps that he has the cutest little dog named Payton! read more

Bartholomew Tree Service is the best around! Randy is so knowledgeable and gives great advice. They did a great job pruning our trees and what a difference in the yard. We will be use him again in the future and tell all of our friends. Thank you for the outstanding service! read more

Randy is very knowledgeable about trees. He and his crew were on time and did an excellent job removing two trees from our backyard including one that was dying that Randy diagnosed as having a fungal disease that could not be treated. They also carefully removed some pavers that we had on a foot path in order to get a piece of their equipment into the backyard and they carefully replaced the pavers when they were done. The crew worked quickly and efficiently and also removed a few "volunteer trees" in our hedge without any additional charge. This is an excellent company. If you call them for an estimate, mention that you found them on Yelp for a discount. read more

Randy came out on a Sunday to take a look at our property. We had overgrown trees that the previous owners did not care for. He walked the property with me and knew the name of every tree, which ones could be saved, which ones needed to be stumped, and where the branches needed to be cut to help the tree grow and flourish. He came back a day later with his team and they did an amazing job - ground up the branches, stumped trees, and raked everything when they were done. Best of all, his prices were better than everyone else. Thanks Randy! read more

I would recommend this company to anyone needing trees removed. I called a few places to have them come look at this huge tree in my back yard. The problem with taking down my tree is there is no way to get any kind of large equipment into my yard. So everything had to be done manually. When I called Randy, he came out and told me there would be no problem getting it taken down and having the stump ground up. It was going to be an all day job but they would get it done. I had to reschedule due to needing ComEd to come and cut the power and also to notify our neighborhood. That was fine with me, Randy called to let me know right away that he couldn't come on our scheduled date due to ComEd needing more time for notification. The day the tree was being removed, Randy showed up with a team of 5 guys. He had two in the tree cutting and three on the ground cutting it up and hauling it away. It was an all day project but his team got it done. The only complaint that I had was he didn't give me a time he was going to be at my house and I called him that morning since I didn't hear from him and he told me they were in route. I just wish he would have called either the night before or that morning to let me know an approximate time they would be there. Other than that, I have no issues or complaints. Randy and his team did a great job taking down the tree, grinding the stump and cleaning up everything. Randy is very knowledgeable and even noticed an ornamental tree we had that wasn't growing. He told us what we needed to do to bring it back and he was spot on! read more

I called for an estimate and Randy came out the same day and gave a very fair estimate (I had already received an estimate from another company). Since Randy's estimate was better, I called him to accept his proposal. They completed the job within a day of my call and did an excellent job trimming our two large trees. Cleanup was also well done. Thanks! read more

Great service, quick and attentive!! Very nice man.

Last year two of my trees in the front lawn, a magnolia and a crabapple, were treated for a disease they developed. This summer I decided to remove the crabapple tree. Since I wasn't happy with the company we hired last year, I started asking around for recommendations of another tree service company. That didn't help and I felt kind of stuck not knowing where to find someone to trust. I did a google search, I contacted three very well known companies and I got three quotes ten days after my initial call! I wasn't happy with none of the three and the reason that I had to wait over a week to get a free estimate from each one of them didn't give me any confidence about their credibility. Then I turned to YELP and started reading the reviews of various tree service companies. I called Bartholomew Tree Service last Monday after reading so many excellent reviews about their service. Randy came and gave me a quote right next day, and Wednesday afternoon he came back with his crew, removed the crabapple, trimmed dead branches of all trees and pruned branches that brushed against the house. He took care of each one of the trees and bushes in my yard although most of them were not included in the quote he gave me! My experience with Bartholomew Tree Service was excellent from start to finish. Honestly, I cannot say enough for this company. Randy was a pleasure to deal with. He went above and beyond my expectations and treated my trees as if they were his own. His crew worked hard and fast. The tree removal, stump grinding, and sodding were perfectly executed. The trees were trimmed in a very short time frame and all debris was removed leaving my yard as clean as it was before they came. I appreciate Randy and his crew's hard work and professionalism very much. Randy is not only great but also very honest. I only wish, all tree service companies were like Randy or at least half as good. Excellent job Randy and crew! Quality work all around! A+ in everything! I highly recommend them and this is the only tree service I will ever use. Jenny T. read more
