I had a great experience with Lucas Landscaping. We received quotes from a number of landscape design companies and in the end went with Lucas Landscaping because they understood our vision and were able to accommodate our budget. There are four criteria I consider before writing any review and Lucas Landscape exceeded our expectations on all: 1. Quality: attention to detail 2. Reliability: delivered services in timeframe agreed upon 3. Price: best bang for buck & works within budget 4. TRUST: DELIVERING ON ALL OF THE ABOVE Thank you for your help and we look forward to retaining your services again for future projects. read more

He was very good in the beginning and had no issues until ... after 12 years of being a customer, i questioned a quote and then was told, "don't ever call me again". Without any discussion. read more

We have used this company several times for landscaping design and installation over the past 3 years. Everything went well until there was an issue. Our last installation was creating a bed of river rock alongside our house to eliminate a steep area of grass cutting, last summer. This year that bed has been overflowing with weeds. We have never had this problem in any of our other landscaping beds. We contacted Luke to come out and see what options are available. He was rude and disrespectful. Said we should hire someone to weed and cut the grass since we can afford it. Complained about replacing 5 bushes that were under warranty the year before, and said he didn't want our business anymore. We spent over $5000 for his services over the past 3 years. If you are looking for excellent customer service and communication skills, look elsewhere. read more

We had a 300 year old oak tree removed because sadly it had died. We were so impressed with the service we received from Lucas Landscaping. The office staff was pleasant and responsive and the tree techs did a fabulous job of taking down the tree. It was a daunting task to remove the tree from our backyard but they did it efficiently and left our yard clean which was amazing considering the work they completed. GREAT COMPANY! read more

I would recommend Lucas Landscape to anyone. James gave me an estimate that was way better than other places that contacted first, but the biggest thing for me was James's response time. Text or e-mail, he was fast with the replies. His crew was super awsome. They were very polite and hard working, and my front and back yard look totally cool now. I requested a cleanup along with some garden rearrangements, and man, they did gooooood Thank you Lucas Landscape‼ Here are some before + after photos. read more

Great team at Lucas. They did a great job with our project at a fair price. We'll use them for all our landscaping and hardscaping needs.

Hired Lucas Landscaping to build a flagstone patio in my yard. The work was done beautifully with the lead man, Heriberto, a very competant paving worker. However, less than one year after, one of the flagstones cracked significantly. Luke would not consider repairing this or even coming out to see the problem or offer any solutions. Additionally, he was quite rude. Later in the summer, many of the flagstones began to discolor around the edges where the stone met the grout. Again, Luke was not willing to offer any solutions and, again, made me feel like it was my fault for choosing flagstone with the remark, "You chose it!" I wouldn't deal with this company again. They do beautiful work to begin with but if problems arise later on, you are on your own. read more

We worked with Mike of Lucas Landscape Design this past fall to spruce up our yard. He was fantastic and offered tons of plant and design ideas to make our landscape really pop! We had them plant some grass and redo our planter beds in the meantime and hope to have them back out in the spring to plant some new shrubs & flowers! Highly recommend! read more

Left work unfinished. Rude foreman who tried to rip me off until I escalated. Failed to take away all the wood from the tree remember cal job despite me paying for that service in advance. Now that they have my money, they will not return calls or emails. Paid them with Zelle so I can't get a refund. Will leave bad reviews until I get what ai paid for. read more

They were awesome from scheduling my appointment for an estimate, quoting exactly what I wanted, to doing a thorough and fantastic job. We are more than happy with the work! read more

Came out to give estimate. Never followed through. Been trying to call email. No Reply. Don't contact this company if you value your time.

We haven't yet hired Lucas to do a project for us. We do plan to use them though. And I wanted to review them based on their estimate. Luke came out twice to see us. He's a character. He's got a wealth of knowledge and is a straight shooter. I'll post again after the job is done. read more

Great job. Efficient communications, fair pricing, work completed to expectation. Very satisfied. Would recommend Lucas and will use again.

Several texts, calls with no response to get remediation on a several thousand dollar planting project. I'd be glad to update the review if/when we hear back with solution. read more

Nice work done quickly. Very responsive when I asked them to come back and make an adjustment. James and team really work hard to make sure the customer is satisfied. The price was fair and done within the time frame as I requested. read more

They planted multiple flowers and put down mulch in our front yard. It looks amazing! We are going to ask them to come back and plant some trees! read more

Lucas was great. He and his crew did a big 3 part job at our house. 200ft french drain with catch basins and tied in the gutters. Stone seating area and then they excavated a bunch of old, dead shrubs and replanted arborvities and hydragenas to turn an eye sore into a good looking area. His crew did all the work by hand and busted their humps. Would highly recommend Luke and his crew. read more

Lucas Landscape did a very thorough job of removing some trees & stumps for us. They were efficient, careful, respectful & very reasonably priced. I will be hiring Lucas again & would highly recommend them. read more

I used this landscaper for a small job, hoping to use him for a bigger job in the future. At first Luke was great. But then there was a problem with a carpet of weed growth within 2 weeks after the job was completed. The response I received was unprofessional and showed basically no interest in finding a solution. In fact I received an email blaming the problem on me. Needless to say I will find another landscaper for the next phase of my landscaping. read more

We had a very pleasant experience with Lucas Landscaping. This was a welcome surprise given the past few experiences we've had with projects in our backyard have been somewhat traumatic. There's just something about digging up your backyard that causes some gut wrenching, because someone is destroying (with the goal of improving, of course) the place where your family and children play. We hired Lucas to help us with drainage issues and a muddy backyard and they suggested cost effective solutions that went beyond just solving the issue at hand. Our backyard was a swamp, especially by the fence and by the swing set where our children played everyday. Instead of proposing expensive drainage solutions, they suggested a little regrading and building an enclosed area for the swing set so mud would never be an issue again. The sections by the fence were lined with river rocks and the whole project was completed in a day. I no longer have to deal with muddy feet and paws and our backyard looks 100% better than it did before. The communication was excellent throughout the process, the cost was reasonable and the end product exceeded my expectations. read more

Extremely Pleased!! Highly Recommended!! All services provided were thoughtful, precise and beyond our expectation. The crew was professional and ended up going above and beyond when it came to the installation and design of the materials and services purchased. Lucas, Lalo, and their team truly care about what they are doing and furthermore, understanding the expectation of the customer. Communication was easy, pricing was great and timing was exactly as desired. Honestly, can't say enough good things about the services provided. I highly recommend Lucas Landscape Design for all your outdoor needs!! Without even a moment of hesitation, we will definitely be using them again. Thank you and Great Job!! read more

I don't remember the last time I was actually eager to write a review. Too often it would be a negative one so, when the opportunity to write a positive one comes along, I don't hesitate. Yesterday the crew from Lucas Landscape and Design arrived and didn't leave until, at their request, I walked my entire property to make sure every tree was supposed to be removed was cut down, every tree that required pruning, every tree that required shaping, was done to my and my wife's satisfaction. If I could give them six stars I would. From the very beginning, when I was getting quotes from other reputable landscaping companies, Lucas was the only one who provided immediate, typed quotes and who changed the quotes as new work was requested. Today, as promised, they picked up the trees that were placed near the road to be picked up. All branches and debris were removed. This company really cares! Two of the five workers who came, Felix and Flaco, took special care to make sure that that no limbs touched our home - despite the close proximity of an ash tree that hung over our roof. Kudos to a great company. Richard G. Long Grove, Il read more

I used them initially for red mulch which by itself made a huge statement in my yard, then slowly added flagstone steps into my side yard so I didn't have to step into wet mulch. Then I had them work with me on redoing my front yard which was overgrown by utilizing some of my shrubbery, transplanting some to other areas, getting rid of a lot, adding a complete perimeter of hastas and perennial day lilies. The biggest compliment was my next door neighbor thanking me for being able to look into her side yard and see something beautiful and other neighbors telling me my yard looks like a Hyatt Hotel! With some simple changes and minimal costs the transformation was huge, they came when they said they would and they stuck to their proposal. What more could you ask for? read more

We learned about Lucas Landscaping through the Mulch Center. Lucas gave us a great price for delivering and installing mulch, scheduling was a breeze. They were here right on time and did a great job! We are having them do some grading and sod installation next week because of the good experience we had with them before. Highly recommend. read more

I was very happy with Lucas and his team. They were prompt and did a fabulous job! I'm pretty fussy and they made me happy!

Paid for garden soil. Got dirt that won't grow anything. Proceed cautiously.

Quick response time for reasonable estimate. Tree trimming and removal done on time and on budget/estimate. Would call again.

They did a very good job - as scheduled and ask promised. I would highly recommend them!

Lucas Landscape Design did a great job when our 2 large trees needed attention. I got an honest opinion of the situation, quick scheduling of the job and a great price. They brought heavy duty equipment to do the job right and the neighborhood kids loved watching! We were impressed with the attention to detail, replanting disturbed plants and picking up lots of stray branches. Highly recommended! read more

Needed massive silver maple removed. Lucas provided with us with an extremely competitive price. They followed through on everything they promised. Their crew was extremely skilled. It was an education just watching them safely take down the massive tree. They also were very careful to do it in a way that disturbed our property as little as possible. The job took them all day and it seemed as if they never stopped working. They must have been utterly exhausted by the end. Once the tree was down, the crew cleaned up very well. Early the next morning they returned to pick up the scores of logs left from the job. I also received a call from the owner asking if everything went ok. I'd hire them again without any hesitation. read more

We had a 3 part project - cutting, grinding, and grading - planned for 3 separate days. The work was excellent, completed on schedule, and for a fair price. Lucas and his crews were friendly and accommodating. One of the things I like the most about Lucas is the way he treats his workers. He always spoke to and about them with respect. That says a lot about a person. Highly recommend. read more

Great service and a good price second time we used Lucas both times an excellent job will use them again

Lucas removed a tree and did a fantastic job at a great price and quickly.

Had no issues with Lucas. Simple tree extraction was done as expected. Price was lower than expected. Win win.

We bought a house in late fall and Luke got an estimate to us quickly, his crew got the the shrubbery removed and trees trimmed on schedule, left the area clean and the invoice reflected the estimate. Excellent communication all the way through. I really appreciated the detailed estimate as it allowed us to make decisions that would keep us as close to budget as possible. Definitely recommend and would definitely use again. read more

Lucas did three jobs right around the corner from my house. The men were professional and neat and as my neighbors all spoke so highly of Luke I gave him a shot. Cut down a huge tree and did major trimming to other trees over hanging the house at a rental property of mine and then came back to my house and cut down another tree and did some trimming as well. His guys could not have been more helpful and professional and they cleaned up after themselves as one would expect. I have already referred them to another friend in Highland Park and will continue to do so as they also did an excellant job there. Great and fair pricing, on time, knowledgeable, and professional; what more could you ask for? read more
