I took a few branches down this past weekend...well maybe more than a few. I thought it would be so easy to find a company to come and chip the branches so instead of putting it in the back of the yard I put it all around our playground set. After 8 calls and 6 no's I finally got ahold of Oakleaf Treeworks. Within 4 hours they came out for an estimate for chipping services ($250 in my case which is super reasonable) and they'll be doing the work on Friday. The tree whisperers... I would give Oakleaf Treeworks 10 stars if I could! Owned by married couple Miriam and Santiago, from my initial contact with Miriam to the initial visit with Santiago, I knew this was the right business to work with. We hired them on the spot to trim the four very tall oak trees and a hickory that live in our backyard. We initially called Oakleaf, because they are arborists and understand trees. I also knew they would climb each tree with love, instead of pull up in a truck and just chop away. And, I wanted to support an independent business. Last year our trees were misdiagnosed as having some issues. We received two over-inflated estimates to have chemical treatments pumped into our trees, and one company wanted to cut down a tree and remove a neighbor's fence to get to it. We were devastated at the thought of losing one of our magical trees. Turns out all they needed was some serious pruning. And, we even learned our oaks are 300 years old. After a few back and fourth text messages with Miriam to find a nice dry day for Santiago and his team to come out, we finally found a day. The guys came out with ladders and ropes and chipper machine. I was stunned to see them climb our trees and get to work. It was like an acrobat show! At first I was sad to see some of our legacy limbs go, but I no longer have to worry about our trees accidentally dropping dead limbs on our neighbor. After several hours, they guys went from tree to tree. They carefully moved our patio furniture on the deck out of harms way, and put it back like nothing happened. Also, when they left, they cleaned up absolutely everything. Very reasonable estimate. We are so grateful for Miriam and Santiago. We have 60+ year old trees in front and back. A locust, Norway maple, Silver Maple, pear and 2 mulberry trees. We received three very different estimates with 3 very different views of what needed to be done. We trusted Santiago more than the others and his estimate happened to be the lowest. We also chose Oakleaf Treeworks to trim our trees because they are arborists, not just tree trimmers. Santiago is trained to protect and care for our tree's health and that he did! Santiago's amazing crew carefully moved our patio furniture and planters and put everything back without me asking. They were very careful of my plantings. I was worried about the bushes and flowers, but they had a method that almost ensured everything would be safe. The teamwork was a testimony to Santiago. His crew is very well trained. Everyone was in motion the entire 3 hours they were here (except the 20 minute break for the rain to pass). They even worked after they got soaked in the rain! During one of the October thunderstorms, a large tree in our front yard was hit by lightning. Unfortunately it was dead and needed to be removed. We had several estimates done, but we were most impressed with Oakleaf. Miriam, who is a certified arborist, went through our whole yard and gave us options for trimming and removing other trees and shrubs that also needed attention. I'd gotten another couple estimates and theirs was in the middle and they by far instilled the most confidence. Horrible service.. irresponsible & sloppy work. They cut our cable lines when trimming a tree, which left us without internet, phones, and tv . They also broke a window & literally blamed us, saying that our window was already broken ..what a joke Miriam! (the owner who accused us of already having a broken window) ..Nope. Miriam and Santiago were super helpful throughout the whole process. We never once had to worry about anything and they were on top of things. Miriam handled all the permits and Santiago dealt with the tree cutting. We had other quotes but Santiago's was the most reasonable and he was very humble. They responded very quickly and were efficient and reliable. They provided great value for their service and finished on time. Not only they cut our trees but they also cut our neighbors. Miriam's estimate and Santiago's crew did a very fine job of removing a beetlekilled pine, and planting a plum tree I supplied in its place in a little over an hour. Amazing. Impressive. But repeated requests to return for estimates to trim, prune, and feed my foliage were postponed, and just recently ignored by Santiago. This kind of behavior runs rampant with tree service people: they do nicely first time around, but are "too busy" to continue the relationship. No wonder there are 5 stars for the FIRST job, but I give them all 1 star for lousy follow up behavior, highly UNprofessional. Future Buyers be warned. read more

A tree fell on my house during the tornado/storm and they were very quick to respond for a quote and then quick to come out to complete the job. I am very impressed with this company. From the first phone call in the lady seemed super nice and very easy to work with. Santiago was the lead out in the field and man he knows his stuff. We had gotten three other bids and Oakleaf came in about the middle. The service and knowledge with them is what made me sign with them. We had a ton of work. Many trees needed to be taken down and trimmed back. Santiago and his crews worked for 4 days cleaning up our new home. They busted butt and the place looks amazing now. I do not recommend this company. First they changed the contract price by doubling the amount we had agreed on, claiming they made an error. Secondly they left a big mess on my lawn and my neighbor's lawn,they broke my post light and our drive way basketball board and they didn't even acknowledge . They didn't grind the stump as was agreed upon instead they left literally a truck load of muddy mulch I had to call another company to remove the muddy mulch and now I have to call another company to grind the stump which is about 10" above the driveway level. I made a mistake by paying them before inspecting their work. read more

I have hired Oakleaf Treeworks multiple times. Miriam has always been so quick to return calls and send a crew out. Santiago is also always very reliable and professional. They have removed fallen trees multiple times, taken care of sick trees and recently just trimmed an overgrown oak. Each and every time they have been great. If I could give less than one star I would. I hired Santiago and Oakleaf for one reason, to give me sun on my patio. He quoted me $600 to trim four trees and said I would have sun "no problem". He came and trimmed a few low branches on only two trees letting no sun in and then left a chainsaw in my yard for my 8 year old nephew to find. Santiago told me numerous times over the next six weeks that he would come back to complete the job and never did. Oakleaf proved unreliable, unprofessional and incapable of completing the job they were paid for. read more

I am so happy with Oakleaf treeworks. They just trimmed and cut down a large number of trees for me. They were great. Cost was reasonable, crew did a great job and Santiago really cares and made sure I was happy with the job, before they left. He was able to save many of my trees by trimming them instead of just cutting them down. I was having racoons on my roof and he was able to do the work, before my roofer came to put on a new roof, as well as walk the roof perimeter to make sure everything was cut back enough that the racoons won't be able to access it again. They are easy to work with and listen to what you want, while using their expertise to make suggestions. If I could, I would have given them 100 star rating.
