Best Italian restaurant you will find within an hour drive. Get this, I am the guy that doesn't even believe in buying Italian food typically. Get a box of Angel Hair and a jar of Prego and it's golden. I've always believed it all taste the same, but maaaaaan am I wrong. Barstow house is something out of this world. The establishment is classy, the staff is wonderful and the food is absolutely ridiculously delicious. 10/10 will go again.

Just passing through and we needed food. So, hit maps, Yelp, and Barstow House had a good name... exit 62, and 4 min off the highway. Perfect. Cute inside and out. Server was personable and accommodating. Entrée portions were nicely sized - like proper home cooked meals, with separate salads. Chicken parm was good, veal scaloppine was a bit too peppery, so was my chicken marsala, but we cleaned out our plates and enjoyed the quiet dining room (jazz playing in the background). 3 dinners: $75.

Ribeye steak with Dijon peppercorn sauce. So good!!

Great ambiance, great service and great food! My ribeye steak with Dijon peppercorn sauce was amongst the best I've had, and I've been to wonderful steakhouses in CA including Mastros and Ruth Chris. Cooked and seasoned perfectly and I can't wait to go back!

I'm relatively new to the area and usually go to Sayre or Owego for good food. Went in this week on a whim. Glad I did. The service and food were top notch. Get the House garlic bread with mozzarella and onion, and be prepared to take the rest home!! It's a 14" or so load of happiness!!! Also had the chicken over linguine Alfredo. Excellent. Will definitely be back.

Couldn't be seated - only like 8 people in the place. Not friendly either. Sad as it's historic.

I love Mangialardo's because it's like stepping into a time capsule--into a style of restaurant that is totally gone in large cities, and almost gone everwhere else. Don't get me wrong; the food is excellent and the service is always perfect, but you won't find gluten-free pasta or modern fusion dishes on the menu (although gluten-free bread is available). It's a good, standard, Southern Italian menu, such as was ubiquitous at American Italian restaurants in the nineteen sixties, with prices that are unusually low. Set unassumingly near the tracks, where it has been for the forty years I've been going there (and I suspect for its entire 92 years of existence), this place is run by the third generation of Mangialardos. This is not a surprise; walking in, you will see a bar side with booths and a dining room side with tables. Italian-themed artwork, and a large, lighted portrait of Nonna Mangialardo grace the walls. Low ambient lighting, warm-colored carpet and decor, and Jerry Vale singing "Al di Là." What could be better? Don't go to Mangialardo's to satify or show off your worldly culinary tastes; go to Mangialardo's to experience what Mangialardo's is and has been for nearly a century. A family-run delight.

I was shocked at the 45 minute wait time for some chicken wings but, I saw how busy they were when I go there. I loved the atmosphere when I walked in. It was busy at the bar and restaurant but no one was waiting for a seat. That's a great sign. Immediately, I was asked if I had an order. I told the gentleman I could wait but he went back and put a rush on the wings. Within 10 minutes I had the wings, and an apology for how long it took. Although, it was well before my 45 minute pick up time. The parking lot is a bit cramped but there's not much room to expand. Besides, they have been there since I was a kid. The wings were so good. They came with blue cheese, celery, and carrots. Overall, this place is well above 5 stars. I can't wait to dine in and visit the bar side. Great service and I hope they stay open for another 40+ years.
