Coming on a Saturday might have not been a great idea. Service was great but she was busy. Only one waitress for a restaurant. The place is a warm cozy place. Since they were short staffed it did take awhile for the food to get to us. But it was well worth the wait. The bread is baked fresh on each order. We had Eggplant Parmesan with a side of Spaghetti, Meat Lasagna, and Spaghetti with the works. My wife likes her pasta cooked a little longer than most and we forgot to say anything beforehand. We stayed locally during our Finger Lakes visit and read a few reviews that said the pizza was the best. I am from NJ so for me, pizza has to be a specific way - the NYC way.. This pizza was OK. The top was burnt and had a lot of air bubbles baked throughout - like a wood fired oven and the super saucy pizza could've used some more cheese. Too much sauce and the core crust was inconsistently cooked. Hey it's only pizza so I'm not gonna complain. A little pricey for the area also. $16 + for a fair plain large pie. Stopped here for a late lunch on the way home from Canada. Very nice staff, we were seated right away. The best part of the meal was the wine, which was of good quality and reasonably priced. AMBIANCE: This is an old school joint. Things are old, decor is old, but its an interesting vibe. Definitely Italian. Their a/c was broken today and it was hot outside, so this didn't help with the meal. LOCATION: It is located by Elmira College, easy to find and street parking. Its bigger than it looks. SERVICE: quick and accommodating. I was the only customer at 2pm on a Sunday, so I think I might have helped her not be so bored. FOOD: I ordered a lot, more than I realized I was. I got a free plate of breads that included garlic knots which were under seasoned, barely any garlic flavor. There was also some french bread that was over toasted, it was rock HARD! Next I got my french soup and it was SO salty. I had to gulp down 2 cups of water before my meal was over. It was good, but too salty for sure. Next I got some calamari and chicken wings. I had decided against fettuccini cause I didn't want all the carbs, but when all the food came out I realized it was all fried anyways. So I fail at attempting to watch my eating habits. Calamari was okay, it was cooked nicely, but the batter they use was interesting, it wasn't crunchy but rather very easily fell apart in my mouth which gave it a very weird texture play. By this time, I only had a couple of bites of the calamari and tried 2 wings cause I was stuffed! I got 2 flavors, garlic and hot. Hot wasn't spicy and I can tell they had just warmed it back up cause it was cold in the middle. I next tried the garlic flavor and found barely any garlic taste. It was disappointing, but I did realize I ordered things that weren't very Italian-esque at an Italian restaurant. That was my bad, but I will not be coming back. Nothing looked good enough to come back for. PRICING: This is a pretty expensive place. $12 for a dozen wings. The wings were tiny, if I wanted that price I would got to buffalo wild wings where its tiny wings with better sauces. Appetizers ranged from $5-9. Entrees ranged from $10-13. Overall, this was more than I wanted to pay for the flavors and lack of finesse. Avoid if you can, I gave it 2 stars for the nice server and the location and decor. read more

This is my favorite Italian place in Elmira. The neighborhood is a little shady but get a table by the window and enjoy the entertainment of "people watching" as you talk and wait for you dinner. Enjoy a glass of wine, a bottle of beer, some bread and some garlic knots as you wait for your order. Sit by the aquarium and do some fish gazing. Talk a little with the wait staff who are more than welcoming and inviting. I highly recommend the stromboli or any of the variety of pastas that tare stuffed with cheese such as raviolis, manicotti or stuffed shells. Mr. P recommends the chicken marsala like always. The price is right for the quality and amount of food that you get! You can't go wrong! This is an active and running sub shop and bar as well. Come here for lunch and get fast service. The waitress staff are friendly, helpful, and an asset to the restaurant. I ordered the Calamari as an appetizer...over breaded, over cooked, and served with a cold, tasteless marinara sauce. The biggest mistake I made was to order the Margarita pizza. When delivered I told the waitress it was not what I ordered...in front of me was a mess of red sauce on an inedible hard thin crust...no evident mozzarella, basil leaf, or garlic...her reply was that this was the pizza I ordered. The gluten free pizza crust was amazing; it was crispy and cooked perfectly. I've never had gluten free pizza crust that tasted this good. Our waitress was great too. Fantastic Pizza and good Italian food. Linguine fra diavolo was excellent but the lasagna could have been better. If you order lasagna with meat, it only means they put a sauce on top with meat in it there is no meat in the layering of the lasagna. We had a wonderful lunch today were they superb sausage and pepper sandwich which is the best I've had. I originally came from Syracuse and I thought I knew great Italian but this restaurant is wonderful the bread was very crispy and hot sausage with superb and the peppers were done perfectly along with the onions. We also try to slice of their pizza and I definitely will be back. The dessert menu is just fabulous I can't wait to try the tiramisu. The waitress was wonderful so I knew I had to give her a better tip and she kept coming back and spent time explaining things. At first we weren't sure if we wanted much bread so I said we were just put a sausage and pepper sub and then I decide we try the pizza as long as we were there we would've had an antipasto or at least an Insalata but we had so much food from the other stuff we didn't think we could ever make it through it I can't wait to go there for supper's it's just better than I ever would've thought. Parking is a bit hard as the lot or only hold about six vehicles but there's plenty of street parking. Just went to Petros today with several friends. Asked for an antipasto and it was the worst I have ever had. Looked more like a chef salad. A couple slices of ham wrapped with American cheese, a couple slices of so so salami, and a few thin slices of pepperoni with lots and lots of head lettuce. Beware Of This Place! Visited Pietro & Son a few weeks back. Not sure if it was not brought back to me or I just forgot it, but left my credit card in the restaurant without knowing it. I live more than an hour away. Went to use the card a few days later and realized it was missing. A terrible feeling if you have had ever had this happen. I then realized the last time I used it was here. I called the restaurant to see if by chance they had found it. They did. Great news and I thanked them very much. I explained how far I lived away and asked if they could mail me the card. They said they would. I gave them my address and had them read it back to me. End of story right? I wish!!! After no less than 5 calls since and several weeks, I still don't have the card and it is clear I will never get it! First two calls, they admitted they had never mailed it. I explained, I was going out of town for Thanksgiving and really needed it. Nope, still no card sent. The next calls kept getting different stories not just on each call, but during each call. The person that answered said they would get a manager. No manager would come to the phone, but you could here people in the background talking. They think it was mailed, but claiming different days. The last call, I spoke to "The Manager". The story changed by the minute: we mailed it, well I put a stamp on it but can't say it was mailed. Then a long thing on we don't mail cards, we need to get some ID. I explained I would have been happy to fax multiple forms of ID or even make the drive to get it. BUT WAS NEVER TOLD ANY OF THAT! I was told you would mail the card. Then back to we don't have the card. I again gave my information and asked if they could simply check with the person that "Supposedly mailed it". Of course, NO call back. Clearly this is a business with no integrity. Clearly this is a business that does not care about its customers. Would never visit again. read more

Just got back with my order of Linguini Fra Diavolo with an extra salad. First off sticker shock of $27.48 ?? Best part was when he (owner) placed my salad in same bag as hot food, and small containers on top of small? Stuff fell all over I repacked in front of him (don't wanna know my coment) food sub-par! We have not been here in a few years so we thought we would try it again, and I'm actually glad we did. Atmosphere: there are 2 dining areas. What I would call the "main" dining area, and then a good -sized room facing the convenient store. We were seated in this "side" room which I was not really a fan of. No ambiance, just a room with a bunch of tables and a broken air conditioner, and it was pretty warm in there. Service: our waitress was very nice and attentive. We were all on motorcycles so she found us large baggies to put our leftovers in so they would ride in the saddlebags. She did a nice job and was very friendly. Food: We ordered a medium meat lovers pizza and it was very large which impressed us - and very good, crust not too thick or thin. Chicken Picatta was quite delicious also - generous portion, chicken was very tender, lots of capers and mushrooms, a nice flavorful sauce, and served over a little linguine. Fettuccini Alfredo w/ shrimp was another dish ordered. I tried it - I'm very fussy about my Alfredo - most places where I've tried it the sauce is bland and lacks flavor. This was pretty good by my standards, enough that I might actually consider ordering it myself in the future. The last thing ordered were a couple dozen chicken wings. My son is a chicken wing nut, he said they were good but not the best he's ever had (flavor-wise). I have to say they were large wings in comparison to some of the little puny ones I've seen other places. I didn't not try the wings, just the sauce which wasn't bad at all. I'm pretty sure they don't use Frank's to make their sauce, it tasted more like a Louisiana hot sauce than Frank's Red Hot. So I can't honestly review the wings other than to say they were large wings, looked real good, and the hot wing sauce wasn't bad. So overall, I give the place 4 stars. Pizza is delicious! I have been a few times and it's never very consistent. Sometimes the food is great and other times just ok. some of the dinner portions are VERY large. The main seating area I think is a better place to sit. There is a large room on the left of the main entrance they more than likely will sit you in if you have a large party. (maybe 6 or more). This is not a bad section just very plain jane. Almost like they needed more seating and added a large plain room. You feel very detached from the main restaurant. read more
