I'm pleased to say that the title has been usurped by none other than Adulis Restaurant. Tucked away with an uninspiring facade, Adulis looks like the sort of place you wouldn't expect to be a centre of great cuisine, yet as is often the case, one shouldn't judge a book by its cover. For inside, all manner of delights and delicacies are in store. The restaurant offers a selection of Eritrean, Sudanese, and Ethiopian cuisine, although doesn't make any distinction between them on the menu. From the menu I've tried five things, the Kitfo - An Ethiopian staple of raw beef spiced in such a way that it essentially cooks through, is absolutely delicious and probably the best I've ever tasted. The Chicken dishes are wonderfully spiced and not lacking for flavour, and the vegetarian options? Well, let's just say that I as a full fledged meat eater could be tempted to go veggie if all their cuisine was that good. Most food seems to be served on a platter of Ethiopian bread, or Injera. Traditionally this bread is made from teff flour, a tradition kept strong at Adulis. The bread is nice and has a good sourness to it, as well as a tang that only teff flour can provide. The staff are wonderful, and while the owner might not be versed strongly enough in English to describe what food you are getting (The menu however, explains them well), we have had no issue getting across our poor tolerance of chilli. Finally, understand that the serving sizes here are immense. Two mains can easily feed four people to satiety, as we have had two mains amongst three people before and struggled to finish before inevitably admitting defeat. If you are after some of the best cuisine Africa can provide, this is the place to discover it.

Next for our mains, I had been craving a laksa for a while but I am fussy about my laksa so was hesitant. Their laksa did not disappoint though. All were happy with their mains as well. The price is reasonable. I had curry puffs for entree, laksa and steamed rice for main and had a strongbow and it was only $34. I was happy with that.

I have never been in to Colonel Sams without at least 5 people in front of me, and it isn't because they are slow and I never eat fast food on public holidays! Colonel Sams is definately the balls! they always have a minimum of 6 people working behind the counter on the grills and prep areas and the food is usually up lickedy split! I have also had a burger from them (like Paul M), but I went for the beef variety. It did fall apart for me, but that was no fault of the burger nor those who made it. I was just inhaling that sucker....it never stood a chance! I also really like the hotdogs (I never order Chicken from a Chicken shop, I'm weird like that!).

I absolutely loved the pulled pork, thought it was the winner out of the meats, and it went so well with the apple slaw. The mac n cheese was great, but serving sizes for the sides were a bit small (I ate 4 'serves' of mac n cheese and could easily have eaten more). The potato tots were salty and crispy and tasted great with the blue cheese dipping sauce. I absolutely hate blue cheese, but this sauce was great. The only disappointment for me was the beef brisket. It tasted nice but hadn't been cooked long enough so the fat hadn't broken down properly. Not a huge deal though as I was happy to keep going back to that delicious pulled pork. The staff were really great and the store itself had a really good vibe. If you're thinking of going I have two pieces of advice for you: 1. Book a table! They are really busy so you'll probably miss out if you don't book 2. Go as soon as they open! They only cook a certain amount of each item and sell out quite regularly. My husband went there once at 7pm and they'd already sold out of the beef brisket (they have a count on the wall that tells you how many of each are still available that night).

Their kids meals are great too, since they are all served with mash potato instead of the usual fries, making them a much healthier choice. There is a vast array of interesting desserts on offer too - yesterday I had the chocolate and orange cake, which included an array of nuts and seeds, and my partner had the sticky date pudding (possibly the best I've ever tasted!). They sell amazing protein balls too, which look incredible - I'm looking forward to coming back and having one next time ;) Nice wholesome food, which makes you feel like you are making a healthier choice! The Fleurieu Pantry is part of the Eat Local South Australia movement, supporting local produce. They also support all different types of dietary requirements, including gluten free, vegan, raw and paleo. Once you make your way through the entry door at the end of the alley, the cafe opens out and up. It almost feels like a garden party at your eclectic aunt's house. It feels fun and buzzes with chatter and energy. Table service is friendly and attentive but not at all intrusive. As well as a menu of regular favourites, there is always a substantial specials menu. Vegan and gluten free options are well marked. The smoothies and juices come served in mason jars with handles and wide straws. The serve is large enough to have you sipping before, during and after your meal. Local favourite Goodiesons Beers are also available, as well as organic wine from Battle of Bosworth. The wait for meals is under ten minutes, even when it is very busy. To pass the time there are cookbooks to browse or card games on the tables to keep you entertained. Mr Wino's green curry looked really impressive, with fat, fresh prawns (tails on) and a mixture of black & basmati rice. The sauce was flavoursome with Thai basil, a hint of chilli and lime juice and the veggies still had bite. The Veggie Slice special was a frittata of sweet potato & zuchinni plus black rice. It was a large serve and tasty napped with a generous portion of basil sauce. The side salad was napped with tasty balsamic dressing and a crunchy seed & pepita mix. The choc-orange cheesecake is raw and vegan and totally delightful. A date & nut base gives way to a so smooth chocolatey interior and a rich choc-orange ganache scattered with cocoa nibs. Each time I have dined at The Fleurieu Pantry I have been impressed by it's garden party atmosphere, table service, luxe handwash & cream in the bathroom, eat local / low waste philosophy, vegan options and secret hidey-hole access way. The chips are crispy but soft inside (yum!) and the onion rings are uhhh-mazing! I've never had a bad burger experience at eNuf, however my other-half has had a dry patty before and didn't love it. There are tables to sit an eat at, with your burger served on the fashionable wooden board or you can also get takeaway. If you fancy something different, they do a monthly special burger so for example this month it was a roast lamb with mint jelly! One downside is the lack of parking available and sometimes the tables look like they haven't been wiped in a while. The burgers are great though!

The cheese tasted super processed, floury and we couldnt eat them, they were not pleasurable at all. Note that the cheese makes the fries soggy and you have to eat them with a fork. Less cheese would be more, perhaps? I heard the new store on Glen Osmond road is a lot better, but a little out of our way to try. Make the burgers bigger and we'd be happier!
