Let's start with the Colombian atmosphere. From the kitchen you get the fantastic aroma of a kitchen driven with passion by Mama Alba. Our service from katie was outstanding. On to the food. So many choices but only so much stomach room. The wife and I shared Birria Tacos which is a moist generous portions of chili-braised beef, topped with chihuahua cheese, wrapped in large corn tortillas griddled in consomé broth. OMG. We ordered a side dish of roasted corn and cheese dip. Better known as Queso dip served with tortilla chips. We chose to add a Roasted Corn with cheese for two bucks extra. This all came with a tray of various small sample of sauces from hot , garlic flavor, a pineapple sauce, any many other mouth watering flavors! This Colombian restaurant is quite the adventure. You can go back 42 times and the flavor would all be excitingly different. This is quite a compliment to the master chef at this establishment. Too bad it is 300 pulse miles from our front door. Absolutely love coming here. We haven't ordered anything that we didn't like. The service is always good and the food is always delicious. I really appreciate that. It comes out hot and that it still tastes delicious even after it started cooling down. Love the salsa. Also love that the spicy peanut actually is a little bit spicy. It isn't burn your face off spicy, but it's got enough of a kick that it's fair to call it spicy. Huge pet peeve of mine when places say they have spicy sauce and it isn't spicy at all. It's always such a difficult decision deciding what to get because the menu has so many different options. I also really appreciate that they have always been willing to make alterations for dietary restrictions. Sadly disappointed, I was very excited to try this restaurant, I've been past it so many times. I was greeted warmly and brought to my table swiftly, my waitress was very kinds but even though I was one of three tables it I didn't feel very attended to. I've never had an Empanada before so I again was exited to try this new treat! I don't know if they even drained them before llacing them in the plate. When I received them, no joke, they were in a puddle of grease, I wasn't sure at first and thought that's just how they were supposed to be but after taking a few bites I felt sick, the grease flavor over powered the rich meat and flavor of the potato inside the pocket. So, I was in Westlake, Ohio, and I was looking for a good place to eat. I asked my hotel front desk clerk about restaurants in the local area. She told me about Barroco's. It is a locally owned restaurant that serves Colombian food. Awesome! I decided to try it. I haven't had South American food in a while so I was very interested. The food was amazing. The ambience of the restaurant is very small and cozy. It has both inside and outside seating. Their menu has a great selection from appetizers, to entrées, to desserts. My waiter was extremely nice, very knowledgeable and I think he was the owner personally. If you have any questions about the food, they will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. The food was hot and fresh. At first, I was taken aback, thinking that it was a small portion of food. I am a big guy and I like to eat. Man, was I wrong? The arepa was more than filling. It was very deceptive, in a good way. If you're looking for good South American food, I recommend Barroco. read more

I had a passion fruit mojito, bandeja paisa, and Maduros con queso. They say everything with bacon tastes better, but I never thought sweet plantains with bacon would taste so damn good! Our waitress was so sweet and had great recommendations, I wish I was able to remember her name. However, taking away 1 star from my review only because this location had no idea how to process a digital gift card I got for Christmas for this location! Service 4/5 Seated right away on a Friday night and we requested outdoor seating. However our food took eons to appear (as with the other tables around us). There were plenty of patio heaters with adjustable levels which made it cozy enough! Also string lights in Crocker park added a nice ambiance. Our server was courteous and wearing a mask the entire time. This was another great recommendation we got while quarantining in Cleveland. Covid-19: you can order and pay online. They do curbside pickup. They were wearing masks and gloves. Our food was brought out the second I called and said we were there. A+ from me. We got the Mexicana Arepa and Steak Maduro. The arepa was the best arepa I've had. Sometimes arepas can be dry, but this one was not dry at all and it was so flavorful. As much as I loved the arepa, the maduro was the star of the show. I've only had loaded maduros one other time and they're so good. These were perfectly caramelized and very ripe so they weren't a hard texture. The plantains had great flavor, the steak was incredibly tender, the queso was absolutely delicious. Definitely order this dish. You get a side with the arepas and we got Yuca fries. We really enjoyed them. They were more of small wedges than fries, but I liked the smaller size. This might be my favorite meal of quarantine. Make sure to come here if you're in Cleveland. read more

I'm so glad we stopped by Barroco after visiting family in Toledo because their food is out of this world! My wife and I shared the Steak Maduro and the Mexicana Arepa. Both were excellent. And considering I'm not a fan of arepas, I was pleasantly surprised. Between the Arepa and the loaded Maduro, the Steak Maduro was the clear winner. The arepas to me were dry and hard, also I prefer the shredded beef with some texture this one was maybe too soft and when mixed in the arepa it was just not good. The filling of the reina arepa was tasty, I mixed it and it was good. The service was pretty terrible, yes they were busy but there was enough people working there for them to do a better job. We finished the appetizers with the menus on the table and without have ordered our meals, and we had a lot of appetizers. It was just bad. read more

Ok so we're checking out the barroco. Really enjoy the Lakewood version so BAM here they are at the nice looking kiosk looking restaurant in the middle of crocker that has housed a couple flops. Has the green sauce & the hot thousand island looking sauce crossed over it already. I never know whether to hand hold the arepa bc then it usually falls apart. This one was kinda crunchy, hard to cut through. Prob overdone but it has some softer stuff up top to eat. I don't know. I'll come back & try again they're bound to figure it out. The good: - Server was good - Arepas were good - Meat was mostly good - Plantains, yum - The variety of sauces they have and the sauces themselves - The decor and ambiance were cool The bad: - Hostess wasn't friendly - Food took a long time to come out - Bandeja Paisa's chicharrones weren't crispy, the egg and the rice tasted strange and I'm thinking it was the oil used to cook but I'm not sure - Pretty pricey for the quality: for example, we were given one set of tiny disposable plastic cups of their signature sauces with no serving utensils so we were all awkwardly dipping and using knives in the little cups, not what you'd expect for $27 a plate - We told them we were celebrating a birthday but they didn't do anything :( I didn't want to explain the bad when the server asked us how everything was because we were celebrating the aforementioned birthday and I didn't want to make it unpleasant. I do think we'll go back to try some other dishes we were considering that day, but for now we had just an okay experience. read more

This was my first visit to this location; I've been to Lakewood before. This place is right near DSW and Dick's sporting Goods at Crocker Park. There is not a lot of street parking so you'd be best to park in the nearby lot. Inside There's a small bar with maybe 6 seats, and maybe 15 tables. There's a small patio with some tables too. They're known for their arepas but I didn't want anything that heavy at 8:30PM so we just got tacos and beer instead. The chicken adobo tacos were delicious. In my book anything with pickled onions is an A+. Because the shells tore, I would take my grade for these pickled onion-topped tacos down to an A-. We also got the carne asada tacos which were ok. Not pictured are the 6 sauces that our server brought out. She didn't give us much direction on what to do with them until I asked, and at that point we also ordered some yucca fries, which were perfectly crisp and salty (so much for non-heavy food, haha). I put some of the pineapple sauce on the carne asada taco which immediately elevated it and provided some much needed moisture. We also liked the garlic aioli. I'm rarely at Crocker Park so I'm not sure I'd go back here, but even so, I do recommend it. read more

Im really confused with all the sub-par reviews because i was literally blown away by Barroco. I'm aware they have other locations so im not sure if the reviews or food vary but this review is specifically for the one in Crocker Park. I ended up here on New Years day, on a cute little date night, and there was such a calming atmosphere almost the moment i stepped inside. We were greeted by a sweet girl and sat immediately. There was music blaring and at first i was a little annoyed at the volume of it because its very echoe'y in there, but alas i looked to the corner of the room and I saw a man playing the music LIVE. So that was definite props for entertainment features. To the food. The menu is simple and to the point, directions for the gentrifiers, and regular stuff for the authentic latinos.They have arepas, fajitas, tacos, even some other usual dishes for the pickier less risk taking eaters. I started with the corn/bacon queso and it came out before i could even finish my sentence. SUPER fast service. I also indulged a bit in their $5 margarita special, the passion fruit and strawberry are HIGHLY recommended. :) To the main event, i got the La Sucia arepa with fries, there were a ton of other side options but i went with the safe route. Im kind of bummed because the arepa immediately took me back to my homeland being a little girl watching them get made in person. The carne asada was ON POINT, and the cheeses and veggies literally melted in my mouth, it was A RUSH of authenticity. The fries were good too lol. Portion wise you get a bang for your buck, and the service was awesome. Very on point, friendly, helpful, we had a young waitress with braces so if you're reading this THANK YOU so much for being soooooo awesome with our first experience there. Got a little lost in this sauce(s) here. When you step inside it feels a little like a Bucca di Peppo...but Latin...but in a good way. The food is a million times better than that however. I was told by my boyfriend to go for the arepa and it truly didn't disappoint. The soft outside dough was so yummy and the beef inside was so yummy. Then comes the most important part...the sauces! They give you a bundle of 5 at your table for every meal. I couldn't get enough of the green pesto, red mayo type sauce, and the garlic sauce. Each one was amazing on both the arepa and fries. Not that impressed. Service was good, but the soap dispensers in the bathroom did not work. The hand sanitizer machine was out of sanitizer, so overall not great. The food was okay. I got the birria arepa, which was falling apart and hard to eat. But overall tasted okay. The manduros (sweet plantains) were great. The chips were stale and the queso was mediocre. Not a terrible experience but I don't know why they are called the best latin food in Cleveland. read more

I love Barocco. Their food is unique and authentic. I've been a handful of times and always leave too full. Their food is indulgent and Over the top. They are known for their arepas but I had a maduro steak dish this time. Good taste just a lot of soft textures, needed a crunch or something. The condado cheese dip was incredible. Super cheesy and great chorizo flavor. They are also known for their 5 sauces. All very good, probably my favorite part about Barroco. I like the garlic one and the green one. Their drinks are also amazing. The pina colada is so good, but filling. The mojitos are way lighter but equally good! Would recommend. The Crocker location is cute. Our party of five dropped in on a whim hoping we would get a table on a busy Saturday night. We called ahead but were told they don't do reservations or call ahead seating. We were lucky enough to get a table. The food was really good and service was as well. The buffalo chicken queso appetizer was soooo good it went fast! The arepas two in our party ordered were stuffed full and messy but excellent. I recommend a side of maduros with your arepa, you won't be disappointed. I got an arepa for takeout, and the food came out pretty quickly. The food is very tasty, and I got their homemade spicy sauce for my side of fries. The downside is that it cost $17 for not that much food, so I would recommend dining and going for the ambience rather than the food, because the food is not worth the price on its own. read more
