I've always like the idea of working with a 3rd party escrow company because I feel it puts both sides of the deal on equal footing. Cheryl Wolfe was an escrow assistant when I started with them and over time she moved up to Escrow Officer. She is my absolute go-to escrow officer, although all of the officers are professional and thorough ~ Cheryl and I just hit it off. She gets it done, cuts through the bull, and has the experience and expertise to sometimes pull rabbits out of her hat! We are trying to close a transaction with Barringer Escrow tomorrow and despite our detailed communication with Daniel regarding preparation for docs (reverse mortgage loan) he had zero sense of urgency. My 82 year old seller has to be moved out of her home by Monday at 6:00pm. Movers have been paid and all arrangements made. Instead of Daniel sticking around after 5;00 to ensure we had docs out tonight he went ghost - not answering phone or email. I spent $1000.00 of my own funds for seller to stay in her home until Monday. Daniel had zero regard for this woman's circumstance. My escrow company goes above and beyond so I'm completely taken back that something that could have been resolved by Daniel in order to close tomorrow was treated as if it wasn't a big deal. Unfortunately we didn't get to choose escrow. I called in to try and reach the MANAGER repeatedly and was sent right to Daniels line. My 82 year old client had to be driven to escrow in Costa Mesa from Menifee to sign docs due to this escrows incompetence. She sat there in their office 3 hours waiting for them to figure out how to do a HUD so we could get docs.... AND then my seller had to be driven home -2.5 hours in Orange County traffic. Day 2 after close and we are told commission check will be sent out from OC sometime tomorrow. Worst escrow I've worked with in 22 years read more

It's nice to work with people who genuinely care about their job. Barringer has been great ever since I started working with them last year. As an agent, its important for me to have an escrow company that can take care of my files and make my clients happy. Daniel and his people do that better than any I have worked with. There are a few things that have happened recently which really stand out and show their commitment. Generally I am very good with dealing with any kind of people, having closed hundreds of transactions, but on my last transaction there was a selling agent who was....difficult....to say the least. He made things hard on EVERBODY. There were some charges denied by the lender that the other agent was just determined to get paid. I don't think he ever did a short sale before, because he was just impossible to deal with. I forwarded Daniel the last email from the agent and said the deal might be cancelling. dan proceeded to call one of the owners of the esrow company, Steve. Within 15 minutes, Steve called me asking if he could help in any way. He suggested maybe he could step in as a neutral party and speak to the buyers agent and help them understand the situation better. I thought why not, so he called the agent. 40 minutes later, Steve called me back (having spent the entire time talking to the agent) and said he had made the agent happy and explained everything to their satisfaction. That changed things for the rest of the transaction - from then on, the agent stopeed thinking I was trying to rip off his client and we successfully closed two weeks later. Another time around 3 months ago, I had a deal that was a short sale, but for the 2nd lender only. Dan not only answered my question re how the transaction was different, he also had Steve call me, who is a specialist in short sales. Now I have always considered myself to know more than 95% of the agents out there when it comes to short sales, but Steve showed me a few things that I had never thought of AND had a way of explaining things that made them just make sense. Again, he probably spent 45 minutes with me, showing me every last detail and making sure I didn't have any more questions. He never made me feel rushed or seem he had anything else more important than me and my issue. You don't see service like that nowadays. Dan is the same way and its why I give my best recommendation to Barringer escrow. read more

I am a real estate broker. I have been working with Barringer since 2012. I was going thru 4-5 escrow companies and not satisfied with any of them and then received a marketing call from Jordan. I decided to give Barringer a try and never turned back. I now refer them to other agents. Here is a list of things that make Barringer different from other escrow companies. Not all escrows can do short sales. 1) Jordan specifically does the HUD so you can submit to the S/S bank. He gets this to me in 15 minutes after request. This frees up the escrow officers time to do their job.2) He will help with negotiating a lien if I ask him to. Like an HOA lien, credit card lien, etc. 3) Steve, who is one of the owners will make a personal call to you or the other party's agent to help with any issues that are causing the deal not to close. As a neutral party, he has helped a few of my deals close when I can't get the other agent to cooperate to try to get the deal closed. 4) Instead of saying no, we can't do it, they will assist to find a way to help to get the deal closed. As for the other negative comments on here, all I can say is that a lot of people do not know what the role of an escrow company is. When you don't, it's easy to bash them because they didn't do what you want them to. And sometimes, by law they can't do it. This goes for some real estate agents that are not familiar with short sales either. I've never had a phone call or email not returned. People, be reasonable. If I need something that is a Rush, I ask them nicely if they can do it. And pretty much, Barringer does them for me. A good real estate agent will explain to their clients what the escrow company is there for and what they do and why they get paid for their services. I have been a loan officer, real estate agent and investor, and I try to learn as much as possible to know what escrow and title does because they are all involved in a real estate transaction. So if they ever don't do their jobs, I will let them know. And this is what I have done in the past with the other escrow companies I have used that didn't do their jobs. I have not had this issue with Barringer Escrow whatsoever. They will assist me in whatever way they can when I ask for help because they value my business and make sure I am satisfied and that is what good businesses do. read more

Avoid using this escrow company. We had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Daniel, Sok and Esteban. Their inattention to detail (and possible incompetence) caused a delay in the funding of our loan. When we started asking what was going on they tried to make it seem like it was the Lender causing the delay, so I contacted the lender directly (which they clearly didn't think I would do). I then received the string of emails and communications between the lender, title, and escrow. It was abundantly clear that the lender had reached out numerous times for updates - with zero response from Daniel or his crew. It wasn't until the day the loan was scheduled to fund that someone responded. Then the paperwork they created had numerous errors the lender tried repeatedly to get them to correct, but they were slow to respond, and wouldn't correct all the issues. The lender had listed out each and every item that needed correcting and they still got it wrong. The most concerning part is their apparent lack of knowledge of the legal requirements for recording. They tried to submit a package that was missing signatures and had electronic signatures (they needed actual ink / notarized signatures). They are the escrow company - it is their job to know these details. And when you mess up - own it. Don't push it off on to another party and get caught with your pants down later. One additional lesson I learned, is that my real estate agent was a friend with one of the escrow agents (which I'm sure is common). This just exacerbated the problem because when my real estate agent told me it was my lender causing the delays, and told me that the escrow company was doing all they could to get things through the lender...I believed him. It wasn't until I saw the actual communications from my lender that I realized they were just covering up their own mistakes. This caused the relationship with my real estate agent to fall apart because I cannot believe anything he says now.
