The store is spacious and well organized and I liked that there was a best seller list table right when you walk it. Decent selection of books prominently displayed; I enjoyed looking at all the different genres. They have greeting cards, gift items, Fairfield U clothing and paraphernalia. I was able to find a great book gift that happened to be 30 percent off. They also have a cafe/coffee shop and some indoor and outdoor seating. Upstairs for the textbooks. On street parking. It's spacious, clean, and pretty well run. Comics: There's the weekly releases, then a few dollar bins, and dollar bins are always excited. There's a couple of bookshelves of graphic novels/TPBs/HCs as well. I wish that shelf had some used/marked down stuff, but whaddya gonna do. The store also has a small but well curated array of toys/video games/statues. Nothing I needed but always fun to look at. They also do some Magic and Pokemones card stuff. Those shops have a lot of toys, but I also find them to be overwhelming. In contrast, Wild Child has a highly curated and diverse selection of toys including some toys I've never seen and some from top brands. They have every category covered - we saw cute little books, Tonies, dolls, doll strollers, arts and crafts projects, beaded jewelry, balls, cars, a wooden trike, a variety of Montessori-friendly wooden toys, and so much more. Wild Child would be great for birthday gifts or your own children. There's something for all ages. The shop owner is very knowledgable and can help you find the perfect toy! Prices are very reasonable. It's definitely worth visiting, except on Mondays when they're closed. We're so happy to have this great toy store in the heart of Wilton right by Scoops ice cream. I saw online that the business is up for sale, so that may explain the lack of warmth. While the sign on the door said open M-Sat, the shop was not open Thursday, Friday or Saturday. I left messages on the answering machine asking to please let me know when they opened again. I happened to drive by at 3 this afternoon (Monday) and saw the lights were on. Mabel is no longer there. They no longer have anyone who can finish needlepoint belts. They cannot give advice about how many more inches to stitch, in case it would be wrong for whatever finisher I might locate. They do not sell embroidery floss. They do listen to their voicemails, but not until the end of the day, so didn't receive the several I had left. They do still have a beautiful array of fibers, but overall the trip was a waste of time.
