This is the Barnes and Noble clearance store that's going out of business on 7/15. It's a month until they close and I went on a 5 for $25 Saturday. Yes, the store is pretty picked through. Some departments are better than others. For example, I was able to get popular kids books (The Babysitters Club and Goosebumps) with no issues, lots of baby books, extensive personal development, relationships, etc. section. It seemed like the only departments where I couldn't find ANYTHING were general fiction, mysteries/thrillers, and romance. TBH it's a clearance store so I didn't expect to have the best luck finding anything too popular. However, some people were in here bugging the staff about popular authors and new releases and didn't seem to understand the concept of a clearance store. At this point it's basically a treasure hunt. Manage expectations and only go if you're interested in discovering new authors while getting great deals. Anyways... I was also impressed that the cafe was still running and there was lots of seating. The staff seemed nice but overwhelmed. TLDR; treasure hunters welcome. Be aware it's not a normal B&N. read more

Huge bookstore located in the Stamford Mall. We had a great time walking around here before our train. Lots of books and games available in a variety of genres, and they have a Starbucks Cafe inside of the store. I got a pink drink and my girlfriend got a lavender matcha, both really good drinks. This Barnes & Noble should be embarrassed to call itself a bookstore. My group and I were kicked out for no legitimate reason, with zero warning and zero respect. Instead of calmly explaining anything like normal human beings, the staff immediately jumped to hostility and humiliation. We were treated like we were a problem just for being there. The worst part of this entire disaster was an employee named Allison Arlotta. She was openly rude, disrespectful, condescending, and clearly on a power trip. The way she spoke to us was unnecessary, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. It felt like she wanted a confrontation instead of doing her job with any level of maturity. This wasn't enforcing rules -- this was bullying customers. No explanation, no courtesy, just attitude and entitlement. A bookstore should be welcoming, calm, and respectful. This location felt hostile and judgmental from start to finish. If Barnes & Noble allows employees like this to represent them, that says everything you need to know. I will never return, and I strongly recommend anyone who values basic respect to take their business elsewhere. read more

Glad this place is here. Big and older looking store. Clean with ample selection. There is still a coffee shop with seating. Seating around the store is limited which became obvious to me when I had to use crutches from an accident. My few interactions with staff were professional but not friendly, but I'm ok with that. I visit the store at least once a month. Hope they'll invest in a remodel as the company is going through that. read more

Love coming here with my partner to grab a coffee and catch up on some books and bring one home. Parking is pretty convenient at the mall. It would be nice if they allow you to bring pets but I can understand why as well; though from a business standpoint; may not be the smartest move. This is definitely one of the best book stores that I've been to. The selection of books and physical media in general is vast and excellent. There are so many options of media to choose from, from books, to CDs, to movies, to vinyls, and even board game collections. When I went, they had a rolling deal on anime disks where each one was marked down 20%. The vinyl collection was also stacked, containing records from various classic rock, alternative, and modern artists. On top of the great deals and variety, the store itself is extremely clean and well maintained. Definitely the best Barnes and Noble in the state of Connecticut and not far off from the one in Boston. read more

Huge one with two floors. Located in the mall, bookstores in general are hard to find anymore, so it's re freshing to see this one is still here and it's huge. The store is well organized and everything is pretty much labeled so it's not hard to find what you are looking for. There are a few areas as well to be able to sit and read as well which is always nice. There's also a starbucks in the back on the 2nd floor. It's pretty big as well not just a kiosk. Two escalators bring you up and down to each level. There is a huge magazine section right before the check out counters. read more

On a layover staying in Stamford. My crew and I decided to go explore the mall, just to walk around. We discovered that the mall had a Barnes & Noble. While we like supporting local book stores my friend purchased two books. After purchasing the books, my friend simply asked for a bag. The cashier said, "Oh were trying to cut back on the plastic usage. We normally charge for the plastic bags. But we have these reusable bags for $1.99." Cool you're trying to sell a product but don't insult us because we're using plastic. He was extremely unprofessional and rude. For absolutely no reason. read more

The brand new Barnes & Noble in the Stamford Town Center (the mall) is great! It has two levels, and has a street as well as a mall entrance. You can expect to find everything from books to magazines to music to movies here. I love this place mainly for its large foreign and small circulation magazines and its extensive travel book section! I'm pretty picky about B&N's, and I liked this one. It's absolutely ENORMOUS and the book selection does seem to be better than any of the ones I frequently haunt, (Canton, Farmington, and Waterbury). Cafe had plenty of seating, and more importantly, the patrons weren't obnoxious little clowns like I'm used to. (i.e. you can sit there with your Nook and read in peace and quiet!) read more

Was not a big fan of this Barnes and Noble when it first opened, but it has grown on me. It's the largest one in the state, and I think that was originally what I had a hard time with. It felt so wide open, and when I site down at a bookstore, I value coziness. I've found my reading spots now: the back corner of the cafe near the windows, which is nice on a rainy day, and the love seats not far from the cafe, which are really comfortable. I also know to go later in the evening, an hour or two before closing time as there are fewer people there. There's lots of delicious goodies to eat at the cafe, which like all other Barnes and Noble's is a little bit overpriced. I like the cheesecake. The magazine section is vast, although not quite as much so as the store in Westport, or so it seems. The people who work at this store are very helpful and I've never gotten an attitude. They have a large movie and music section on the second floor, which I sometimes visit to find new music, but this section is somewhat lost on me as I don't tend to buy a lot of movies or music really. read more

Nice sizable Barnes & Noble made up of 2 entire floors, with a big parking lot shared with the rest of the mall that charges pretty low prices. They have a Starbucks on the 2nd floor by the magazines section with plenty of seating as well. Bookstores are a rarity nowadays, so being able to order a nice cup of cappuccino while flipping through the pages of some books is a hard find. My only complaint is the filthiness of the ladies room (can't speak for the men). I did not make a purchase. As a Barnes&Noble reward member for several years, a Barnes&Noble is usually the first store we look for in a new city. I go in, look for maps, local info to purchase and study. Almost nothing in the local maps and nothing for this area. I asked a woman outside if they opened at ten. Since at 0957 the doors were locked! No response. Imagine my surprise when someone came, opened the door and let her in, then shut and locked the door in my face as I tried to walk in! An employee ignoring me, then the other one csbt have the civility at 0957 to say, three more minutes instead of shutting the door in my face? I found map of NYC I could use in the city, went to the upstairs register where I was promptly ignored by an employee with a scowl on her face. When I finally asked if she was opening the register, she turned away and ignored me again. I don't know where all the positive reviews are from but I am disgusted. Never ever in any city, even NYC were employees this bad and the selection so poor. read more

Went to the store and everyone there seemed like they wanted to be some where else. The cashier on the top floor made me wait until she was ready and I was the only one in line. I chalked it up to her having a bad day. Went to the cashier on the bottom floor and got the same kind of response. I will go back only if I really and desperate for something other wise I will go to Milford instead. Both girls were pretty unfriendly. Good bookstore but it's not the place to go and sit down for a while. The starbucks chairs and tables are cheap metal/plastic and there's not enough outlets to go around if you want to plug your laptop in. Wi-Fi service is the expensive AT&T. Borders up on HighRidge road is better if you want to sit down for a while and read a book. (T-Mobile hotspot up there). read more

As far as B&N's go this one is ok.. The books are plentifull - as expected. The staff was hard to find at times but at least they had the kiosk's to look up books... I'd like to rant/rave but it really wasn't worth it.. Can you buy a book - yup.. Does it have anything that any other B&N has - nope.. End of story. read more

The bookstore is large with a nice selection. MOST cafe employees are good and the cafe has a varied selection. HOWEVER, they do not monitor the cafe use by some who decide the area is their personal reading room and office. They have plentiful tables but on the occasion I visited most did not have chairs. I noticed several older people who were browsing several magazines for which they had not paid because I saw them return them to the rack. This is why bookstores fail! They were using chairs for side tables to the reading chairs. Then there were others who were using chairs for their work space putting files and Small printers in them. Really? Also there was a cafe employee visiting with his girlfriend who had her purse on a table but never sat down even though I enquired whether she was sitting there. I guess next time before I order I will be sure there is somewhere to sit. So bookstore manager doing a good job. Cafe manager not so great. read more

A week ago today, 6/10/16, I was in the Stamford store to order a book. I was told the book was in the warehouse but that the store would have it in a couple of days and phone me. Never received a call, so I called the store today. The phone rang about 13 times before it was picked up by a somewhat rude woman.
