I don't know how I never knew about this place, but I know now. Great, great pricing, the dude is solid and will talk to you about metal for 15 mins if that's your thing, which it is. I got a bee gees record that no joke I didn't know existed for $2. Wall had some real gems and my buddy grabbed an executioner record before I did so good for him. Check it out for sure if you're in the area.

I went back on forth a few times on how many stars here, but ultimately settled on 3. Better than average, but not nearly as good as many of the others I've visited recently. The shop is located in the very lovely downtown Northport area, surrounded by other great shops and scenery. It's a great place to go for a walk, shop for some records and have some dinner. I was surprised upon arrival that there were tons of records outside. I'm guessing it's to draw attention, but records due tend to warp in the sun and heat... I looked through the lot and they did have lot of interesting titles at very reasonable prices. So I walked away with 4 titles in the $2-$3 range so I was willing to take the risk. I'd been following them on Instagram for a couple of weeks to watch the incoming inventory before traveling to the area to get a sense of what may be in stock. The LP I was hoping for was unfortunately sold. Or was it? The clerk didn't seem so sure, but thought it probably sold. Bummer for me.. either way I found a couple of other premium used titles in the $17-$20 range. Overall, prices seemed in line with other shops with decent quality and organization to the stock. I would say they are heavily focused on classic rock with a small section of heavier titles, an even smaller selection on blues and about 5 rap LP's. So if you're looking for a good but not mint copy of Bruce Springsteen or done Zeppelin, this is your place. Not much by way of rock newer than 1986, maybe two bins of modern rock or re-releases. So bottom line I left with 7 records for a little over $45. It's a small place but definitely worth stopping in and searching through the bins.

I've missed Tim and RR terribly since moving to Texas, so I make this one of my first stops when I visit family.

The Archive is a physical media retail store that opened in Bridgeport, Connecticut in June 2017…read more It was founded by friends and business partners Brandon Upson, James Neurath, Ryan Emerson and Ralph Stevens. The shop is the brick & mortar division of Vinegar Syndrome: a film restoration and distribution company that specializes in protecting and preserving genre films (mainly produced between the 1960s and 1980s). The company was founded in 2012 by Emerson and business partner Joe Rubin and named for the acidic smell of deteriorating film. It is considered a boutique Blu-ray label and to date has released well over 800 titles on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. The Archive is dedicated to selling movies and music in a wide variety of physical media formats. Consumers will find all sorts of new and used titles available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, VHS, Betamax, Laserdisc, Vinyl, CD, and Cassette tape. A second location opened in Aurora (CO) in October 2022 and a third (named 'Vinegar Syndrome') opened in Toronto (ON) in October 2023. I've been doing business with the Archive for a number of years now. I'm a huge fan of collecting physical media. Although streaming media seems to be the way to go now, streaming services are only as good as your internet connection, the quality is too compressed and titles are disappearing all the time. I like having an actual vinyl record or 4K disc in my hands. Physical formats are also usually loaded with all sorts of liner notes, posters and bonus features that you won't get with streaming services. I try to stop at the shop every few months or so. While I sometimes leave empty handed, other times I leave with some great finds. They often carry great film releases from labels like Arrow Video, Blue Underground, The Criterion Collection, Severin Films, Shout! Factory, and of course Vinegar Syndrome. At times, the shop will even get a limited amount of new releases weeks before they are available on Amazon. If you're a fan of physical media then you need to get to the Archive right away!
