Slightly disorganized, with books, DVDs, and CDs here and there, I absolutely loved it. And what amazing prices!!!! They had a little bit of everything, including both paperback and hardback. Many of the hardbacks were only $1!!!! Considering you're going to pay $20-$30 for a new one, that's a heck of a steal. I managed to get 7 books for $16. I would have bought more but had to buy a bag just to get all of these home as it was. Support local!

They have an incredibly well-curated selection that draws your eye to books that you've never heard of but suddenly badly want to read. The staff is helpful and so knowledgeable not only about what's on the shelves, but what is coming and what they love to read. The space is unique and full of character, with great books seemingly coming out every corner. The children's section is among the best I've ever seen in an independent bookstore--full sets of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys that I haven't seen on shelves in decades! Those who live close by are lucky to be able to explore it and develop relationships with the lovely staff, but also highly recommend that visitors come see one of the best neighborhood bookstores in the region!

I tend to come here for Christmas and Easter gifts, because they always have a gorgeous selection to choose from- around Christmas, there are ornaments, decorative objects, Nativity sets, candles, and a huge range of other great gifts. There are also a lot of small toys and gifts that are perfect for children. You can also access this from the side of the building down a flight of stairs. This one was busier than other locations I went to, though this was also on a weekend which might explain it. It's standard as far as what Barnes & Noble generally carries. What they don't have, they can always order for you. If you're looking for blu ray/DVDs, you won't find any here at all - which is a bit disappointing. They do have vinyl though. Only had interaction with one employee and he was friendly. Most others I saw were with customers. Located in the Vernon Hills Shopping Center mall, there is plenty of parking. It's a generally busy shopping area, so use caution in the lot. Some departments are better than others. For example, I was able to get popular kids books (The Babysitters Club and Goosebumps) with no issues, lots of baby books, extensive personal development, relationships, etc. section. It seemed like the only departments where I couldn't find ANYTHING were general fiction, mysteries/thrillers, and romance. TBH it's a clearance store so I didn't expect to have the best luck finding anything too popular. However, some people were in here bugging the staff about popular authors and new releases and didn't seem to understand the concept of a clearance store. At this point it's basically a treasure hunt. Manage expectations and only go if you're interested in discovering new authors while getting great deals. Anyways... I was also impressed that the cafe was still running and there was lots of seating. The staff seemed nice but overwhelmed. TLDR; treasure hunters welcome. Be aware it's not a normal B&N.
