A lovely little bookshop. I came here seeking a title published by my writing mentor who is local. They had just sold the last copy of her newest book but were able to order a copy for me. They both called and texted to let me know it had arrived. The service is extremely helpful. Nestled among some charming boutiques, restaurants, and specialty shops, Bronx River Books offers a good range of classic, contemporary, and local authors. It is well-stocked besides neatly organized and stacked. It has easily become one of my favorites stops when in town. read more

If there's ever a time u don't know what to read or think there is no great contemporary literature - just visit this amazing little treasure of a shop. It's like stepping into a different universe where the best masterpieces written or translated to English are waiting for you to be discovered. I always encounter all my favorite authors and know I'm in good company and can trust to find the next amazing read. The last one was a treasured discovery for my daughter a book on art thats whimsical but also very well researched n put together. I discovered many new and exciting authors there like Yaa Gyasi "Homegoing" and Imbolo Mbue "Behold the Dreamers" and Ngugi Wa Thiong'o "Wizard of the Crow". As well as my all time favorites Gary Shteyngart, Zadie Smith, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Viet Thahn Nguyen. Hope this place stays around so we have to remain patrons to help them!!! read more

The word on the street is Bookstores are still hot and thriving! Bronx River Books is the perfect example of how alive books are! I actually got wind of Bx River Books watching News 12 Westchester about a year ago. I was recently invited to a boy's 4th Birthday and was tossed between Legos, Wiffle Ball set, Alphabet or Science activities and so many other educational and hands-on gifts. From the get-go, I turned down the thought of buying anything remotely close to technology. Then decided the best thing for any child- boy or girl- are Books! The space itself is smallish, but the owners do a great job at maximizing every square inch. The space is cozy and also child-friendly with a Children's corner towards the back left. I'm not sure if you can settle down with a book and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee- just double-check with them if drinkables are allowed. By the way- Bx River Books holds literary events- just check online. I was really impressed with their Book selection. Jessica actually showed me some books translated from Eng. to Span. And even showed me books by a prominent Puerto Rican illustrator, Eric Velasquez who's made Hartsdale his home. I was dumbfounded! Bx River Books is an independent book lover's paradise and the kind of bookstore you'd feel comfortable in. Trust me, you won't be leaving empty-handed. I didn't. read more

Visited this cute bookshop with a friend, last fall. There was a great selection of popular books (new and old). The store was brightly lit and had lovely displays, including some in the window. Plenty of people were perusing the shelves, and the staff was available and friendly enough. The area where the store is located has a lot of nice shops, benches and plenty of parking. There is also a park nearby to enjoy your bookish purchases! I think the only downside of this bookstore is the small size. There isn't a lot of room to hang out for a long while or cozily skim a novel. I love spending time in bookshops getting lost amongst the shelves, but this felt more like a place to make a purchase. However, I understand the difficulties of small businesses in renting spaces. Despite the size, this bookshop is definitely worth the stop! read more

A wonderful addition to the village of Scarsdale. The shop is small, impeccably organized, and run by a team of people who are happy to help you and to recommend books to you. When I made my purchase the employee at the counter began talking about the movie version that had been made (and I hadn't seen) and how good it was and true to the book, and that the book was outstanding. The store of chock full of popular and classic titles as well as some that many people might not be overly familiar with but are interesting. So many excellent stories await you here. Here's to hoping Bronx River Books remains a Scarsdale staple for many years to come, a sentiment I share with another reviewer. read more

Cozy bookstore right in the heart of Scarsdale Village! Great selection, helpful owners. Would definitely recommend!

This is a super adorable book store. I mean it's right next to the Metro North train station, so it's conveniently located if walking is not your jam. Plus, if you are not a fan of shopping, which this shop has hardcover, softcovers, picture books, board books, books without words, Harry Potter T-shirts, and cute tote bags with bookworm sayings. Knowing all the purchasing of apparel that one can do in Scarsdale, I would have to say that this is the one place that was super relaxing and just positive vibe for the whole family. And if you have an hour to spare, then I would say it is a definite spot for young kids and babies to just hang out and find their best books. The owner and his wife shared that there are even book authors who visit and read books. The latest kid wordsmith is Steven Savage who will read the weekend after this weekend on Marc. 2nd at 2 pm, so in case you are in the neighborhood, this ought to be something fun to do. Absolutely fantastic local bookstore! The owners are full of amazing recommendations and the shelves are always stocked with a huge range of genres and styles.
