Penny's Bookshelf is a book lover's dream. I brought in a few paperbacks I've had at home since reading. While you look through the store, the owner determines your store credit and can place the determined credit towards your book purchases that day. My 3 books brought in $10 in credit and I paid $19 for the 4 books pictured. I can bring the books back for credit when I'm finished reading. Penny's Bookshelf is a gem in Milford. Until I heard about it on a local Facebook group, She is so friendly and helpful. If you sell books, she gives you a good amount of credit and you pay half in cash. She has a wide selection of books that is pretty well organized for the small space it's in but you will have really spend time looking if you need something specific. I got some great cookbooks and biographies today. read more

A nice place to look for any book you find interesting can be found there. Large and all types. Worth browsing around and find a book or two you like. Even outdated books are interesting. A used book is better than a new one. read more

Penny's is an awesome little used book shop with hundreds of books to browse through! You can exchange your books for store credit which is great. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Very nice selection and reasonable prices for a used bookstore. You can sell your books , books you bought there for store credit. To purchase you can use just cash or cash plus credits from your book sale. The only downside for me is the necessity of carrying cash, as you cannot purchase just using credit it's always half credit half cash, unless you pay it all in cash. Notwithstanding , the owner is very nice , knowledgeable and accommodating . One of the best used bookstores I've been to. read more

Best used book store ever! She has a huge collection, and her prices are incredibly cheap. She also gives you a generous amount of store credit for selling used books, My son just bought the entire Harry Potter collection for $26 (only had to pay $13 with his store credit!) I am a long time customer of Penny's book shelf and much to y dismay I have read a startling review by a Christine C. In short the review named the owner as cranky, and the store as disorganized. The writer went on to explain that her own father loves the store. I am truly flabbergasted!!!! the owner whom I have come to know through the years is, and has been nothing but helpful and congenial to me, my friends and now my infant son. Lets face it folks its hard to browse when you have a child with you! She knows exactly where everything is, when asked. I have never read a romance novel and yet find all my need met at her establishment. I would hate for your readers to think less of this store when it's truly one of the only "mom and pop " shops left in this corporate society. I often come in looking for a specific book but if I'm just 'wandering', Penny is able to direct me to something I ultimately enjoy.
