My old book group used to meet here. I have spent many a cozy evening at Barnes. This particular location has an amazing selection of books and frankly I think it's a gr eat store. They have tables with plenty of space and sell food and drink as well. It is a great place to get a snack while your talking about your favorite book. I really love book stores in general but there are hardly any around anymore. This location is nice with plenty of parking and quite spacious and nice inside. You are not going to find a nicer book store in this part of Connecticut.

Went here to study today & the space was very nice the tables are really small though. But this Starbucks is a nice quiet area to study and get some things done. The barista that made my caramel macchiato lawwddd bless her lol she made that with love .

Amazing experience! We came with a group of 50+ students & teachers for a holiday book reading, tour of the store & book shopping! Excellent children's book area! Gayle the manager was beyond accommodating & made us feel welcome meeting all our needs! Phenomenal customer service & generosity! Will definitely return!

I am reviewing this place as an eatery and as a bookstore. They are the " last man standing" in terms of retail bookstores, and personally I buy my books from that unmentionable online retailer. Occasionally I come here for a gift book, but mostly I come here to read magazines. The magazine selection is huge and I might spends two hours reading. But I usually get coffee, which is very good, and a sandwich, which are good as well. The sandwich in the picture is chicken on ciabatta, warm and toasted. The carrot cake is quite good too

    Starbucks inside of BN.

This is a nice, big, clean, fully stocked BN. They have a Starbucks sit down cafe inside. They sell Godiva chocolates, and oh yeah a plethora of various reading/audio material and a bunch of other miscellaneous items, help you part with your $$. Each "department" (topic) of reading material has quite a variety of items by various authors. The only department I thought that was rather small, was the audio books dept, they didn't have anything I'd personally consider listening to, but then again there's many departments in here I personally am not remotely interested in. Any way I came in to just look at a couple of books I'd seen online and did end up making a purchase. The staff seem ready to help, without being too pushy, thankfully so! I mean this is a kind of place, you can walk into, and after what seems like a relatively small amount of time, you've realized, I spent how much time in here!? The prices are printed on the books from the factory, I always wonder, how do they decide how much they'll charge for each book? I mean the books I was looking at, I was obviously interested in, but the prices are a bit steep..But I guess that's another story.

What do you do with kids on a rainy day? I have found it easy to spend at least 2 hours here. We sit in the children's section and read and we usually buy a book or two. Then we have something to eat and the kids love the various sweet tasty things and I can get decent coffee. The selection of adult titles is decent but they can order me anything. And the sale table allows me to buy gift books for sometimes absurdly low prices.

The Tomato Caprese Sandwich was delicious.

I really love this place: a nice place where I can sit, read, work, eat and drink with WiFi access. Love their Tomato Caprese sandwich. Their pastries and cakes are also good. Staffs are very friendly.

The crapy wifi you can expect here...All websites would only partly load and error out due to crazy slow wifi.

Even during the holiday they're open Wednesday and Thursday 10 AM to 3 PM. Friday and Saturday only till 5 PM. I got there just around 4:25 PM on a Saturday night. Merle was there with another staff member. The owner Merle was very friendly. They have a very nice large section of compact discs in the middle of the store. Lots of records as well there's a section for used cassette VHS tapes 8 track tapes. As well as real to real tapes. It's very impressive their section of used audio equipment. I saw amplifiers cassette tape decks. A few open reel decks as well. Some nice tube table radios of course several turntables even a couple of 8 track players They do repairs on audio equipment. I asked Merle if they would work on a boom box as I'm looking at one from 1983 from the original owner, that looks in great shape. But after 41 years, I'm sure I will need belts. Merle told me that there's a $40 diagnostic fee just to make sure it is the belt and not something else as well Some people have complained about the prices here. I went to the used cassettes which are usually in other record stores somewhere between $.99 and $3.99. Here they used tapes were $5.99. Just a couple dollars more than Other stores I've been to. The sealed cassettes are $8.99. Which is pretty reasonable these days as it's hard to find cassettes that are sealed. I went to the couple of bins where there were $3.99 and $4.99 Records. I got a nice Cheech and Chong record with a cool fold out cover I was pleased to see a few Judy Collins records. Even though I own a bunch of them. I forgot to take one from when I left home and didn't want to drive 60 minutes back as I'm going to see Judy Collins in Connecticut on Sunday night and want to see if she will sign it. I Purchased, a Dolly Parton, cassette, and a cassette from the band Saxon as well as threeRecords Merle has been in business for 62 years. I chatted with him briefly. Things were a lot different back when he opened 45 RPMs were very popular and actual LPs didn't sell as well as 45 rpm Records. There were no cassettes back then. No. 8 track tapes either. no open real tapes until about 1963 or 1964. Cassette tapes came around in 1966. I didn't have as much of a chance to look through everything as it was closing time pretty soon after I got there. They were a lot more things I wanted to look through. Next time in the area, I'll get there earlier. Definitely wanna bring that boom box back if the belts need replacement which I'm sure they will I hope they had longer hours though. Merle said it was a staffing problem. I hope they could get enough help so they could be open till at least 6 PM or 7 PM on a Friday or Saturday. But I definitely recommend checking this place out. Especially if you wanna get some used audio equipment he has the biggest selection of used audio equipment. I've seen in a record store. So I definitely recommend coming here.
