Good place went there a few times they had $1 comic books which was great some of them I used for art collages.i am an artist..I do so many diy and art projects I always wanted to get into figurine paintings I saw a couple times they had them and that was another art endeavor I wanted to get into. Last year I went there and finally decided to write the review. the customer service suck. Like super rude and make you feel like your not wanted in the store. Won't ever shop there. Just because I asked if they had an uncanny X-Men 266. The douche working was reading a comic I waited for him to finish to ask. Sorry I wanted to buy a "mainstream" comic book charechter and I don't dress cool enough for the store. I've been reading comics since I was a kid and felt so shamed because I wanted a Gambit comic. I don't care if you don't consider it his first appearance. If I want it idc what u think of it. Forget this place. Oh I found a signed copy for 300 so your loss. read more

I don't frequent comic shops as often as I used to, but whenever I'm in need of something specific or just feel like browsing, there aren't an overwhelming plethora of shops in the area, but there are a few options. While they may specialize in tabletop gaming, Clockwork is still one of the best comic shops in the area. They have an extensive selection and the real estate to display all new issues week to week for your browsing pleasure. I don't know about you, but I'm a big fan of picking my comics off a wall, not a computer screen. Clockwork's got a pretty big wall. Best part? They offer a pretty sweet discount for subscribers. No other shop I've been to in CT offers a better perk. I'm not a tabletop gamer, but if that's your thing, you can find a friendly game here most nights every week. read more

Maybe previous reviewers stopped on a very busy gaming day or just an off day. This is a top notch establishment. Music is not loud by any means. there aren't sales people so to speak. Perhaps gamers were misunderstood as being employees. there's an owner. I've been greeted every single time and graciously helped to find exactly what I needed. Great setup of comics, old and new. Awesome File system with great discounts. Background music gives perfect setting of what Clockwork is. Statues and figurines all setup are awesome to view. The Gaming in the back shows great diversity and brings fun to it. I have compared it to other Comicbook stores, including the famous Secret Stash, and I gotta say, Clockwork is the Best, hands down. The store is more geared toward role players then comic books collectors. Selection is just okay but not great. Also beware of loud music.

I don't collect comics anymore. I sold off my collection last year and banked the money. However, I did come to this store in the past. It is hands down the worst store I've ever been to. The guy there who I'm not sure if he's the owner or just a manager? He is basically useless. He under orders the books. They never have a selection. The books are in bad condition the day you buy them due to poor storage techniques. I agree. The workers there care more about playing " dungeons and dragons " rather than to make sale. I guess the choices are limited and comic stores are few and far. But if you can avoid this place. Do it. read more

Good store for games and comics. The owner, Dean, is a nice guy. Gaming selection is mostly Privateer Press and Games Workshop, with a bit of D&D, Magic the Gathering and a smattering of other things. Has two 6'x4' tables, and up to 3 4'x4', plus a large assortment of terrain. Comics selection seems pretty thorough, with a massive variety of back issues in boxes. Dean can special order lots of stuff, so it never hurts to ask. Only a few minor complaints. 1. The fact that it's a pain to get to from New Haven without a car. The 'O' bus will drop you off across the street, but crossing Hwy 1 is a frightening prospect, though manageable at intersections. 2. It can get a bit crowded on busy gaming nights/weekends. This is good because there are a lot of people to chat with/play against, but you'll probably bump elbows. 3. The decor leans a bit too "man-cave" in style for my tastes. read more

I've heard bad things about this store but I've found it pretty awesome. It was intimidating when arriving on a busy day but on a slow day it's really enjoyable. I've normally gone in on Mondays and Tuesday due to past working times and found that the gentleman at the desk (the owner I believe ) to be a pretty cool guy. Took the time to answer any questions as well as joke around with me and a couple customers. It's a small store and easy to miss but I've found some really awesome stuff. I've bought my first comic in years from this place and moved to another state entirely and just returned and I plan on returning to the store again. I've not encountered a better store in my travels. My hats off to you guys. read more

The owner is there during listed business hours, and -- though he's a gamer and wants to promote the gaming and social aspect of the store -- he is fairly clear on which side his bread is buttered. I can imagine some of the cranky reviews stem from comic aficionados who happened to stop in after hours, when the store was 'over-staffed' with gamers. The store has a strong WH40k and Privateer Press community, with a fair amount of interest in Fantasy Flight's Star Wars space combat games and Hawk's Dropzone Commander. It has a limited but strategic selection of boardgames, but does not stock Dropzone Commander. read more

I have been a customer here for at least 15 years. I don't know what many of the other reviewers are talking about. I have always gotten amazing, courteous service. Greeted as I enter and had my pull list handed to me. Anything I want that wasn't in stock, trades or back issues I was looking for, have always been happily looked up and ordered. Like many comic shops it's got a mix of other product which includes gaming merchandise, card games, a small anime/manga section, and of course various figures and statues. That has never detracted from the comic selection for me in any way. I've also never encountered a time when the music seemed excessively loud or obnoxious. In terms of the service all I can think is the other reviewers showed up on a busy gaming night and mistook the gamers as employees. read more

Reviewers who said the focus is on gaming are correct, for the most part, but they don't realize Clockwork has the best discount on comics for hold customers you'll find in the state, to my knowledge-- 20%. Dean treats his regulars well. He's pretty laid back and usually on the laptop on the middle table rather than at the register. If you need help, just interrupt him. He won't mind. He has a good sense of humor and can talk comics. Just one thing comic customers should know. He doesn't order everything. If you want something obscure, it's best to put it on your hold list a couple months in advance of its release or ask him to order it. read more

I was wary from previous reviews, but after two visits I'm comfortable saying that this is a very clean and competently stocked gaming/comics store with a very polite and friendly staff. The owner was happy to help me out and offer to order any items I couldn't find. In working to satisfy both games and comics it may have a few weak points on stock (VERY few), but as a casual gaming/comic book fan it's the perfect place for me. read more

I finally decided to stop in there last week and I brought my kids with me and I have to say we all liked the place, the guy working was very helpful, he old us about the promotion they had (subscription) and even explained what I've missed in past years on certain comics.
