The Best barre studio in the Burlington area…read more Xtend barre is a great community studio gym in the newer 3rd Ave. No one judges and everyone is super friendly and welcoming. If you are new to barre, it may take a few classes to learn the lingo and form. The instructors are really nice and patient and provides lots of modifications to the workout for all fitness levels. I love that its not just a boring barre class and there are a variety of classes to choose from that incorporate props to work out different muscle groups. The owner Christina, is very involved in the Burlington community and cares for the members. She does frequent special DJ classes, offers challenges and gives back to the community by donating/hosting fundraisers or helping promote awareness to other charities. I've meet some great people at Xtend that I now call my good friends and I'm thankful for Xtend.

Came here for a 4:00pm class on Tuesday with Mary and it was great; she was a great instructor!…read more The run down: The good: +great ownership with nice location that is in an outdoor shopping mall area +small, personal classes +gorgeous, clean space that is very friendly +very ballet oriented, more so that pure barre or core fusion exhale. feedback: -the lights are painfully bright-- doesn't look too flattering on the body and would be much nicer, intimate environment if it looked less sterile/hospital-like in the studio -class price is very expensive for a drop in. -more hands on assists! overall a great place and addition to the 'hood! -Tamara

Response to business owner…read more Catie I took 11 classes at your studio, it wasn't just based on today. I would like my unused classes to be refunded as I mentioned in my review. Thanks but no thanks to the coffee, I very much doubt you want to have a meaningful conversation based on your response- you are clearly just worried about the optics. Original review: I get quintessential New England vibes here- surly and cliquey, it's like they missed the memo that being cliquey and mean is no longer considered cool. The owner is definitely the reason (based on a few interactions or I should say few instances of largely being ignored by her ); I strongly believe studio owners set the tone for the way their employees need to treat their clients and I can tell you that every time enter the studio I feel like I need to kiss someone's ring. Reminder: I pay you, I don't need to also cater to you. FTR I have not one time been impolite to anyone here. I walked in today to find the front desk girl ignore me (not new, that's customer service here at least for me. I am a specific demographic in case anyone's wondering... i.e. not white) to continue her very important conversation about Botox with....was it the instructor? There are some amazing instructors here- Grace M and Lauren F are the absolute best. Others - money down the drain. If I have to constantly look around the room to catch on to what's happening, am offered neither form correction nor modifications (I have neck issues and am also postpartum, not that anyone cared at the studio!) then I can just watch a video online. I patronize 4-5 other studios in this area, where they treat me respectfully and like a paying customer should be treated. I bought a 10 class pack with every intention to give them yet another chance but I am not going to twist myself into a pretzel to attend these classes, I'd rather go to a space with good vibes. I am not going to hold my breath for the owner to do the right thing here but I have a glimmer of hope she will refund me the remainder of my money and put some deep thought into how she runs her business. PS Please save yourself the effort of copying and pasting some nonsense of how you are an inclusive studio.

Having tried everything from gymnastics to rock climbing to yoga, Pilates and more I had to try…read morePure Barre to see what the hype was all about. I went to a 6pm class during the week and it was very busy. I was greeted by their very friendly staff at the front desk and they gave me the drill...shoes off, socks on, grab your equipment and find a spot. We started with some exercises on the ground and then weights. Quickly we circulated to the barre, mats, using the ball and the round rubber bands. Let me tell you, this is a serious full-body strengthening work out! I found it challenging but invigorating. The girls seemed at all different levels too. Some beginners and some I felt like they knew what the next word out of the instructors mouth was going to be. I specifically went to see Jess Grasso as she is the owner so I knew she would be awesome. She was extremely professional and talented. I really likes how she would call out your name too and tell you "nice job"' "looking good" or to "work it". I also really liked the music, it kept me pumped up and Jess wore a headset so you could still hear what she was saying. The barre work kicked my butt, especially when using the round bands. Who knew such small motions would be so difficult?! Another thing I loved about it was that you get a great work out but you aren't doing much cardio so you could totally go on a lunch break. It would be fun to go over with some coworkers once a week. One tip I do have is wear long pants/leggings...the rubber bands on your calves/ankles get a little raw if you wear 3/4 pants or shorts. I know that if I stick with Pure Barre I'll be more toned and stronger. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
