Classes are structured well (cardio - arms / upper body - legs - butt/thigh - abs), but Kathy always changes up the routine.

I recently started attending classes at Cycology 202 after signing up for a great "back-to-school"…read moreoffer --- $49 for two weeks of unlimited classes, and I've had a great experience so far. Located in the Glen Eagle shopping center (near the Gap, not far from Whole Foods), there is plenty of parking available. Upon walking inside, I've always been immediately greeted, checked in, and offered my size of cycling shoes (which are required to wear, so bring socks but don't worry about your sneakers). Without prompting, the instructors have recognized that I am new and offered help in setting up my bike to suit my size. There is bottled water available for purchase and they place towels at each bike station prior to class. They do not allow cell phones in the exercise rooms. Once everyone is set up, the instructor turns up the music and dims the light except for a few spotlights on the instructor, which feels like a club atmosphere. At times, especially when encouraging us to pedal as quickly as we can, they actually turn the light off entirely, which helps to keep your focus on yourself. They encourage you to pedal to the beat, then adding additional movements like push-ups, crunches, and arm weights while pedaling --- which is a real challenge and a great full body work-out. Classes can be reserved in advance via their website or their app, and you are able to reserve a specific bike (which was useful for attending class with a friend). The studio also offers barre and HIIT classes, but I have yet to try those.

One of the women who is a regular said that the studio had recently been taken over by a new owner who has let it go downhill. I have now adapted the morning classes into my weekly routine. I love how strong I feel after class, and love seeing the changes and results... My legs have never been so firm! Each class has a great ab/core segment, but you will find you're actually engaging your core the entire time which is great. You can start at any fitness level and literally walk in with NO idea what you're doing like I did, and soon enough your body learns the moves. The instructors really know how to challenge you (and get those muscles shaking!), but still walk around and observe each client, ensuring you're doing the moves with proper form, for safety and for best results! The instructors and regulars are all very sweet and welcoming, so there is no intimidation factor! Try a class! :)

I really like that the instructor gave modification and challenge options as we went through the poses and workouts. This was different than other barre classes that I've been to - rather than focus on arms and move on, we did arms but then some options in the other poses/circuits later on also included arms. My muscles were definitely fatigued but that's what we were going for! I still liked it though! If you're new to barre and considering this class it's definitely worth a try! The workouts don't look as tough as they are but you'll feel the burn shortly after you've just started pulsing! I think what I like most about barre in general is that it's low impact - this class definitely stayed true to that but I still had a little sweat going on as I went through the poses. Your muscles will shake but that's good and you know that it's working! When I walked in, the receptionist was polite and cheerful and made it a point to introduce me to the instructor because it was my first. I really liked that - then the instructor knew to keep an eye on me if I was struggling and she knew my name (love it when they let you and the whole class know you're doing a great job). The studio was super clean and it looked they had a childcare option so you don't have to schedule around a babysitter to get your workout in! Also the studio has big windows that overlook the parking lot. The sunlight was really nice as we were working out. So glad a barre studio is finally in the Lehigh Valley!

I didn't think such friendly establishments existed anymore until I went here. When I went to my first class (which is free!) they took extra special care of me, making sure I had everything I needed and even set up my spot in the workout room. Upon leaving, they gave me a hand written card with epsom salts to soak in if I was sore. I thought maybe that was just how they acted since I was new, but no. I have been back 4 more times since, and each time the instructor takes time to introduce themselves to me with a smile. It is such a great environment to workout in. It is clean, and the overall Barre3 experience is a must if you have a busy day job like me. When I leave, my whole overall being is in a much better state. I get excited knowing I am going to Barre3 after work. I feel very welcomed at this location, and you can tell everyone who works there cares about you!

I surprised my husband by getting a Groupon for Fred Astaire. I had been reading all of the brides saying how choreographing their first dance was one of the best decisions they made. I figured we could try out a lesson with the Groupon and decide if we wanted to fully commit or not. If worse came to worse, I figured we had fun taking a couple of lessons. Of course we loved our first appointment with Sergei and immediately booked our weekly sessions with him! We procrastinated a bit so we started about two months out from our wedding. When I called she kindly told me that we better get moving if we wanted to be ready for our wedding day. lol. We were looking to merge two songs together into one dance. We gave Sergei the time stamps of the songs and he arranged a beautiful dance for us with the perfect blend of both songs. We worked hard week after week and felt like contestants on dancing with the stars. Once Sergei suggested we video ourselves and watch it in between visits, it made a huge difference! It was very difficult remembering if we were doing the steps correctly just from our memory. We continued to add on new sections week after week until we finally put everything together. The week leading up to our wedding we did a practice run in front of everyone at the studio that night. It was very stressful with everyone watching us but fun. The whole idea is to get you used to people watching you perform the dance. I really wanted Sergei to be there on our wedding night like you would see your childhood dance instructor on the side of the stage at your dance recital. lol. He was there in spirit! My husband had a heart attack when he saw how ginormous my wedding gown was. He said, "how are we going to do this with this dress?!?!?!" I told him that I showed Sergei from the beginning and that we should be able to make it happen! lol I think we did Sergei proud! If it wasn't for COVID, we could have gone to show him our video by now! The studio itself is clean and spacious. There is TONS of parking. They have large open windows so you can see directly into the studio, which is fine. There are wall to wall mirrors where you are practicing. The bathrooms are clean. They have places for you to keep your things while you are dancing. You are practicing on the dance floor simultaneously with other dancers and their instructors. If you book the same time slot you are likely to see the same people week to week. That was our experience and we were able to meet new people that were all very kind and friendly. They even acknowledged both of our birthdays! They hug you hello and goodbye and it really feels like a family! We highly recommend Fred Astaire Dance Studio. They are all extremely professional and hard-working. Many of them (if not all of them) are still traveling for dance competitions themselves and have won many awards! They are excellent teachers! It's pretty easy to find a session that works with your schedule. They also work with you to pay for your lessons as you go versus having to pay one lump sum when you sign your contract. They put the music together for you and create a dance perfect for you and your dance partner. Sergei was kind, patient and professional as he worked with us to be the best dancers we could be. He is absolutely the best! Thank you so much, Sergei!
