So, I first started doing yoga at Local because I received a gift card of $40 to their business…read moreover a year ago, and looking back on it, it may have been one of the greatest Christmas presents I've ever received. The $40 covered thirty (30) days of unlimited classes, throughout which fine I was introduced to some of the most genuine friendships of my life. And, I am so grateful. After only a few weeks, I noticed I was stronger and more fit and limber than I had been in years, especially due to Ryan Gregory's super-fun and challenging Ashtanga Rocket Series. (now, Fridays @ 5:30 PM). Later on, I would sign up for Local's inversion series where Ryan instructed a large following how to properly train ourselves to do a textbook handstand. (Of ~ 20 students, I was the only male. Come on, fellas!) I began hanging, upside-down, regularly with my classmates during the week and right-side-up, on the weekends, sometimes listening to music and other times, playing shuffleboard. I loved how the instructors, baristas, and vibe- exchangers knew how light up a dance floor, too. Anyways, it's been about 15 months that I've been at Local Yoga Cafe, enjoying everything about it. Now, I am very happy to be serving others as a barista at Local, as well as enjoying the Ashtanga and restorative classes they offer. Most of all, though, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the community and sentiment of love they've supplied to that corner of town and for the individuals and the friendships that have supplied the same sentiment to that corner of my heart.
