I am delighted to compliment Barragan's Mexican Restaurant for having delicious, authentic Mexican food, the best margaritas in town and also for having a friendly staff! Last night, two of my friends and I were there for dinner. Margarita, our serve , provided excellent service. She is nice and sweet. After our food was served, she made sure to come over. Check in to make sure everything was OK and spent just a quick moment or two to ask about how we were doing today? My aunt brought me here for brunch and to talk about some family matters during the week, so I don't know how different the experience would be during the weekends or evenings. My aunt mentioned her family loves coming here and are regulars, but it was my first time, even though I attended the local high school and worked in Burbank for several years before moving away. I had always heard of this place but needed a better reason to try it out. My partner's family are also regulars, and this restaurant has a loyal local customer base. Personally, the food quality was cheap cheap cheap, but the drinks tho. The margaritas would bring me back for sure. The ingredients are low-grade, and you can tell they use a lot of packaged and canned goods, only a few fresh ingredients. I'd say using the lowest quality ingredients in this place helps keep the overall costs down. It's affordable for a restaurant in Burbank these days. The taste is also very, very far from being on the authentic side. You can tell they cater to the non-Mexican demographic, but if it works for them and they keep the population returning, I think there's no issue; know what you're getting into here. The service was also pretty good; we were happy with our server, and my family told me that they hadn't had a negative experience with the service either. We sat on the outside patio by the fountain, and it was so serene you could quickly lose track of how many margaritas you drank, and they're huge. I loved how clean the property was. I need to note this because the bathrooms were pristine, the parking lot was well-manicured and clean, and the patio was so lovely; I have no clue what the inside of the restaurant looks like, and I am not sure I would ever want to be seated inside, to be honest. The patio is so cute. I highly recommend it for the ambiance, and I found it so lovely that the waterfall drowns out the sound of traffic nearby. We have lived in Burbank for 11 years and finally checked out Barragan's. There is a nicely sized parking lot hidden behind the building. You enter from the patio in back. It looked really nice when we were seated. One look at the menu prices showed that this place is fancy. Salsa and chips arrived quickly. The salsa was hot and soupy. The chips didn't seem fresh. I ordered the enchiladas mole. They came with choice of soup or salad- I chose salad and rice & beans for $22! My guy is picky about Mexican food growing up with what Grandma made. So he ordered carne asada tacos. My enchiladas were good. He didn't like his tacos at all. Sadly we could have had a fabulous dinner at Granada with margaritas for less money. At $50 I don't think we'll return. read more

Everything we've had here has been solid! Can't remember what all I've had. Probably due to the bomb happy hour they have. Just passing through Burbank and stopped at this restaurant. Despite of other reviews, I thought the food looks delicious. I'm glad I went with my instinct. This place did not disappoint. If you want authentic Mexican food - This is the spot. Food is out of this world delicious, chip and salsa was on point. We had the Seafood quesadilla for appetizer (no photo) but can definitely a meal of itself. Cocido De Res (comfort food) they use short ribs and it was meaty and tender (definitely worth the price), my husband had the chili relleno, beef taco and enchilada combo. And had the flan and churro for dessert. I was on a food coma after all the food we ate. Plenty to take TOGO for late night snack for sure. Kudos to Hugo - Service is exceptional! Many moons ago my granny used to take us to the Barragan's in Echo Park that closed down a couple of years ago. She loved Barragan's especially for their margaritas and beers. Coming in to this Barragans I felt nostalgia. My boyfriends thanksgiving/birthday celebrations were held here during the week right before thanksgiving break. It was a pretty large party and we had the back room close to the bar and to ourselves. The food is not anything special (Mexican food that is pretty bland flavorless) and drinks that are pretty strong. I had two diet cokes and vodkas and was feeling pretty buzzed. The vibe is pretty cool but I guess it depends on who you go with. We enjoyed ourselves and the waiters were pretty amazing since they checked on us several times. They had a taco special with meat of your choice and papa tacos (Monday night). Their is plenty of parking in their lot that is located behind the restaurant. My friends and I ordered an assortment of drinks and happy hour food. All was delicious and we had a great time. My only complaint is that it felt a little bit like we were being rushed out. I used to love coming to this place, but every time I come in, I always end up sitting in the back. I don't know why. I would have liked to see another part of the restaurant, but the server was terribly late. I even had to beg him to bring my glass of water, which took forever. Food: I came on Taco Monday. Beware, it gets very crowded because of the Taco Monday special. All taco dorados are $1.75. I ordered three dorado tacos: one beef, one chicken, and one potato taco. The waiter asked if I wanted to add guacamole on my tacos, which I did. I also ordered a mango margarita with tajin on the rim. Man, the margarita was strong. All of the tacos were good but my favorites were the potato and beef tacos. Parking: It is nice that the restaurant has their own private parking lot but I had to park out in the street on this particular day because it was crowded and there was no parking available in their parking lot. Ambiance: it is a charming restaurant. The lights are dim inside and it is nicely decorated. It is also very big as it has three sections inside and a large patio to eat outside. Service: the hostess was very friendly. The waiter took our order shortly after we sat down but he was not very attentive after that. I kept having to look around to see if I could find him. Tasty Cocido. Great service. Hard rice for me. The most expensive Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at in my life. Someone joked that it is like paying royalty prices for Mexican food. I had a pleasant dining experience at Barragan's Mexican restaurant. The restaurant has plenty of parking and a nice size patio in the back. The bar area is spacious , with plenty of seating. The bar also has t.v's playing the games of the day. . My friend and I were seated right away, with the chips and salsa soon to follow. The salsa and chips were both tasty . The restaurant was half empty, so our waiter was free to check on us often. We ordered margaritas and they were nothing memorable. Granada still has the best margaritas . I ordered the # 5 combination and everything hit the spot. My meal was filling and flavorful. I felt the prices were a little inflated for a mexican restaurant, tho. My combination plate was $25. I'm sorry but their food is just not good. I ordered enchiladas and it was terrible. Stale tortillas with terrible meat, very little sauce. I'm not Mexican and I make better Mexican food at home. Also, there was a lady there that used to steal money off of peoples credit cards. I hope she got fired. Their Glendale location was so much better. They are always accommodating to make vegan options. I order the veggie plate but ask for it plain, no sauce and veggies steamed. I add potatoes and a side of pinto beans. The rice has chicken broth so leave it off. With a side of guacamole ( ask for no cheese) it's the perfect vegan meal! read more

Wish I had paid attention to the review I read on here that said the food is awful and the service is bad. Three of us waited an hour after we placed our order. The restaurant was NOT busy. We ordered breakfast ... over easy eggs. Look at the photo. My husband returned his entire plate before I took a photo. His hashed browns were soggy and the rest of his fajita omelet looked thrown on his plate. I asked for flour tortillas and they were thrown on the table in a basket as the waiter ran by. One waiter came by and said, "How's everything? Good? Good." And was about to fly away until I stopped him to inform him that everything was not 'good, good'. No apologies, acknowledgments or corrections from the waiter. Just took the plates and ran off. Enough with the excuse of being under staffed as a woman who said she was the manager explained. If you don't have enough staff then don't expect paying customers to appreciate lousy service and food. If you're reading this review, don't do like I did, and ignore someone telling you what you can expect. We will never return to Barragans. Spend your $ elsewhere. read more

I have been coming to Barragans practically my whole life. I used to go to the one in Echo Park after Dodgers games and used to go to the one in Glendale whenever we visited family out there. It was tradition to go almost, if not every Friday or Saturday night with family or friends to Barrgans Burbank! I knew every waiter and waitress, every busser. Most of them have been working there since I was a child. I moved away from the area and had an itch to go recently. I saw everybody I knew, and it was pleasant to speak to everybody. But I was disappointed. Prices are ridiculous! Why have they become so high? Their customer service was astonishing. Never a dull moment with everybody that works there. The place is always lovely and decorated according to the time of year. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. For prices that high, the food needs to be exceptional. Basic cheese Enchiladas with rice and beans and one drink is over 30 bucks. For a party of 2, you look at around 70 or 80 bucks, depending on what you order and what drink you get. read more

I'd been to Barragan's on multiple occasions. Had numerous business meetings and lunch with coworkers. I took an awful long time to write a review because I've been undecided on how I should rate them. On many occasions I'd been here, my dining experiences were either a hit or a miss. The biggest issue here is inconsistency. Some days food were amazingly delicious but some days they were just meh. From the many occasions I have dined here, I would say that lunch menu is pretty decent. They have pretty good lunch specials and as busy as it was with the influx of customers taking advantage of the specials just like us, service were always pretty good. We were seated, served, and billed all within an hour of our lunch breaks. Never did we end up late coming back to the office. Dinner time wasn't as pleasurable as lunch. I've had dinner twice and both times were disappointing. Once I had a torta which I didn't really enjoy. I felt that the bread was old because it turned into crumbs whenever I take a bite. It didn't help either that the meat was dry and tough. On another occasion, I had pork chop and egg combo which was too greasy and again, meat was tough. Albondigas and posole is pretty good. This place has been here a long time and is in a convenient location with lots of parking in the back. I love the large back patio. Good food, but service was absolutely horrible! I took my mom here for her 83rd birthday today. This is my 2nd time here and my mom's first time. It was very hot and we asked to move to another table which was much cooler. After that we never saw our waiter. We were surrounded by other tables and people, and all of the waiter's asked everyone around us if they needed anything but treated us like we were invisable! Rafael, Mauricio and David were our servers and did a great job attending everyone. The drinks and food all came at a good time and everyone enjoyed their meal! He was extremely busy but always checked on us! The food was beyond delicious! The mole enchilada, relleno and beef tacos were very tasty! We can here for an early dinner on Sunday. It's a bit hidden but they do have parking in the back of their restaurant and an outdoor patio It was chilly and windy the day we went so we opt for inside seating. Interior decorations gives u a warm traditional mexican home feeling. Chill and casual dining nothing too fancy. Their menu offer a variety of dishes. And they served breakfast all day. My boyfriend ordered their pancakes and omelette with rice/ beans. I had the fish ceviche with two tostada. Of course they served complimentary fresh chips and salsa. My ceviche was ok. It had your typical seafood and onion and peppers but I have to say it's a big different from what I was use to. It tasted ok. My bf enjoyed his pancakes but mentioned the rice was a bit different than what he was used as well. Service was good and attentive enough. Overall it was a nice experience. Nothing too hype or bad. But just in my opinion I wouldn't return just because noting stand out to me that would bring me back. read more

If anyone still likes eating here, I feel sorry for you. That means you'll probably eat dog poop and be happy too. This place is DISGUSTING! It's rare to drive out of a $100+ restaurant for two and actually look at the McDonalds down the street and think that would have been better. 1.) Silverware was dirty 2.) Margarita glass was broken. Replacement margarita tasted like just ice 3.) Soda taste terrible like it came out of a dirty machine 4.) Guacamole had large pieces of hard avocado, pieces of skin, and no flavor 5.) Salad was just old shredded lettuce mix from a bag with a plastic cup of ranch 6.) Albondigas was total mush like it had been cooking for days 7.) Fish taco seemed like the texture of still frozen fish they fried in the flat top grill. Nothing in the taco except terrible fish in an extra large corn tortilla 8.) Chile rellano was mush. Must have been cooked a week earlier 9.) Beef enchilada had unseasoned ground beef that seemed like they fried and never drained the fat 10.) I am writing this review at 3:30 am waking up feeling sick... It's hard to put into words how terrible the food is at this place. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

Having grown up in Burbank, Barragan's was a place I'd heard of and seen several times but my mother, a huge fan of Mexican cuisine, had never taken me there. So when our friends recommended it for our double date I was excited to try. TL;DR version: Service 2/5, Food 2/5; ambience 2/5; value 2/5. Overall it was overpriced underwhelming food. If we ever go back we'll sit outside. The outdoor space was playing Latin jazz, and the heaters were on. It looked nice, but as there was no kind of overhead cover, we were happy to have opted for indoor seating. Our friends were already seated inside when we got there and they had gotten drinks and were halfway through the chips. A random pitcher of water was on our table, probably forgotten by a server. There was an unpleasant smell near our table and a speaker directly above us playing oldies. As we hadn't seen many vacant tables, and our friends were already settled in, we decided to just stay where we were. The waitress noticed us about 10 mins after we arrived and took our drink order. We asked for more chips. 15 mins later we received our drinks and got our appetizer and food orders in, but it was difficult to hear her because of the speaker and she seemed oblivious to the problem even after telling her. Chips arrived after another 5 mins. And we nibbled on them for another 20 mins or so as we talked. Our sad salads came out, (prepackaged iceburg lettuce, carrot, red cabbage blend), but at least the dressing was good. 10 mins later, our food arrived...before the appetizer. When the shrimp cocktail finally arrived, it contained the avocado we specifically asked to have put on the side because of my partner's food allergy.
