Superb fish tacos and shrimp fajitas! Inside the place, it looks sort of like El Torito, but the food is much better.

Love this place. Traditional, great menu, excellent food. Bar is not exciting, but overall a nice classic place in Burbank.

Their food sucks the only thing I will have there are the margaritas. I wouldn't rate it at all.

Our family LOVES going to Barrigans. It's one of our favorite restaurants and go-to comfort food and place. We've been going for a few years now, and I can't believe we've never written a review. Yes, we love the food, the margaritas and the sorta cheesy Mexican restaurant ambiance (great decorations for every holiday, especially Xmas!!!)...but our server is almost always FREDY. Ask for him...we do. He's like a part of our family now. Every time we come, he already knows our drink order and it magically appears. He greets us with big, warm hugs...our 9-year-old triplets (two boys and a girl) adore him, and he knows their orders, which are rather predictable, but he remembers. We are amazed by Fredy's memory, for example, my parents come sometime, but he always asks how they are. He also gives our kids a little something special after dinner, which is small, but our kids LOVE and look forward to. If you're a regular, you are treated like family. We've even been introduced to and have gotten to know other regulars. The manager comes by and is always so friendly, the bus boys are always so amazingly friendly and fast, and Miriam at the reception desk is always so friendly and fun to visit with. And by the way, if Fredy's not there and we get another server, they are ALL so nice and attentive...we've NEVER had a bad time at Barrigan's. And if anyone has a negative review here, then they are just a complainer or don't get it. I work hard all week, so if you want to chill out after a hard day, be comfortable, have a relaxing meal and drinks, be greeted by a warm staff, and if you love Mexican food, then Barrigan's is the place for you. not as GOOD as i thought it was gonna be. I've been there a few times &their food isn't really all that great, it has no flavor! the first time i ate there i had beef tacos. i was expecting carne asada tacos but i got shredded meat. the last time i went there i ordered sopes, they tasted nasty! the sope had an old taste like they've been sitting there for days waiting for someone to order them. the only good thing about this place is their Chicken &rice combo with beans. Growing up in LA my uncle would take my mom, aunt to breakfast every Sunday to the one on Sunset Blvd, so naturally i had to try this one out. The atmosphere is great and filled with plenty of happy servers and customers. It definitely takes me back to my childhood memories. You have to order the chile relleno plate it was very delicious and fresh, they definitely server home made Mexican food. read more

We came here for lunch one day (Margarita Wednesday), and the servers weren't as friendly as expected...not rude, just seemed like they didn't care that much. The margaritas were a great price, but weren't the greatest tasting drinks in the world (either way, for the price, it does the job). The food was just ok, nothing special or authentic tasting. Mondays are taco night. That's what we consistently order... along with beer and margaritas. The tacos used to be $1, but they recently changed their price and can't recall what they changed it to, but probably $1.25 now. Either way, their tacos are worth it. You have the option of chicken or beef. I always get the beef, which by the way is diced potatoes, onions, bell peppers (I think), and ground beef. They are deep fried and then lettuce and jack cheese are added to the top. We always order some chiles toreados with our tacos (see picture). The margaritas are good and strong and the chips and salsa are served warm to your table within minutes of sitting down (sometimes within seconds). Sometimes we'll just sit in the bar area to have our drinks and tacos and play some Hot Spot and watch some football. I like this place and will keep coming here. Oh, one thing I should mention is that the place gets really busy on Mondays and parking can be an issue as their lot isn't large enough to accommodate all their customers. read more

I came here yesterday for the first time the albondiga soup was good and the menudo was delish!! I didn't realize that they didn't have a lot of waiters! Are waiter was a bit slow he brought us coffee which we didn't order at all! and we ask him for a Togo box took him about 20 min. To bring us one. And we never saw him or he never asked us if we need anything! Which we did need lemons and more water well by all means bad service so I won't b comin back and the hostess doesn't smile she looked grumpy and tired so short young Hispanic girl! Uhh...no. Start to finish, a thorough disappointment. Hostess was less than enthusiastic. Menu is boring. Food and drinks are WAAAAAAAAAAAY overpriced: $7.50 for a draft beer; $2.95 for a Diet Coke; $15.95 for a plate with THREE taquitos, rice and beans. Waiter seemed to be in a great big hurry to get rid of us, even though no other customers were waiting for a table. Highly advise anyone who can to avoid this Burbank restaurant. read more

New to the area looking for a good Mexican restaurant...this one is close to my house. I'm a chips and salsa kinda girl, the chips were thick and hard and the salsa tasted more like ketchup. Carmax brought us to Burbank. Hours gone by left us pretty darn hungry. What should we get? Surprisingly we both agreed on MEXICAN. Yes! (Always my favorite) Now... where is a Mexican Restaurant around here? We went to Barragans. It was so freaking good! The rice is so good. Everything was very tasty. Perfect flavoring. The salsa that comes out with the chips is a little spicy. I ordered cheese enchiladas and a shredded beef taco combination. So good! The cherry coke is great, it comes with a cherry on top. Yum! The service was very good. Our waiter was on top of it. He seated us and was always there to refill drinks and bring napkins, etc. We were extremely happy to find this place! Worst service...waiter took my drink for refill never brought back. Waited 25 min for check. Received check wasn't even our tables, swiped my card for other tables bill. Asked for a manager waited 15 min. Carmen came out apologized took another 10 min bringing me my correct receipt. She didn't care how we were treated. Worst service ever. What a effen slopfest.The happy hour margaritas are watered down @ 3.00 each.Served in a 6 oz. Dixie cup/glass.The bar area is a total cluster *^#*.The bar itself has maybe 6 stools that are usually occupied by lifetime members of AA.They reek of cig smoke and refuse to let you order in between them.What is this Occupy bar stool for life? They don't leave and get pissed off if you try to order a margy while standing next to them.Really!The bar table area is a joke. The 20+ tables are jammed together so close.1.00 taco night is hysterical.People stand and hover over you until you stand up to leave then leap over you to grab your chairs.It was a major treat to have some guys fat ass leaning over my salsa.Easily the worse mexican food I have ever had in the SFV.I'm sure with Granada being open again their business will drop off by 30-40% Poquito Mas blows this joint away for 1/3 the cost.If I could I would rate this a customer service nightmare at -5 stars. Went on Friday night Service was fine. I asked for veggies in lieu of rice and beans. Waiter asked if i wanted steams zuccinni or sauted mixed veggies. I took the zuccinni. My #2 plate arrived with cheese enchilada, taco and chile relano. The veggies were diced zucinni with corn, with water seeping into all of the entrees, making them soggy and even more tasteless. The enhilada and relano had ton's of cheese dumped on top of them and seemingly microwaved to a concealed mass. The taco had no flavor and the the meal was lacking any seasoning at all. It's as if they took frozen entrees, zapped them in a microwave. The veggies were soggy and tasteless. Left 3/4's of the meal. My husband had sthe #2 plate with rice and beans, same tasteless plate. My son liked his quesadella. Avoid this place, there standards are subpar. read more

Been coming here for several years now. I always thought that the food here is basically average and nothing to write home about. I like the people that work here and have a relationship with many of them but I think it's important to drop some constructive criticism. The place could really benefit from new tables and chairs. The ones in the bar are so old they are sticky, yucky and kind of give off a little funky smell. They've had the very same tables and chairs at least in the bar for as long as I've been coming here in fact some tables are very wobbly. The menu could also use some updating and maybe changing some things around... I'm all for traditional but sometimes it's nice to try something new. read more

My family and I love Barragans ! It's one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to in a while. The food is really good and comes in large portions. I had the Tostada Grande and it was really good. Now the only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is because the staff could have been a bit friendlier, but other than that it's great ! I have been going to Barragan's for years - I used to be a local and now live on the west side and will still drive here just to go to Barragan's. Not only is the food outstanding - this always feels like old times and nothing changes...in a good way! I love it so much I wanted to celebrate my milestone birthday at Barragan's, we had the party on their new patio and it was amazing. The night was beautiful, the music was great, their food was superb as usual and service was excellent. It was the perfect way to start a new decade of life. All of the guests raves about the food - especially the green sauce enchiladas. With summer just around the corner, I will be dining on that patio very often! read more

First time here, live down the street and thought I'd try it. Got seated, 5, 10, 15, then 20 minutes passed by then a waiter finally came over to take our drinks and order. Drinks came right away. Again another 10, 20 minutes passed and nothing, not even that soup that comes with the order. 30 minutes... then our food came. I asked for some hot sauce, 10 minutes later still nothing. We had to stop someone else to tell them we had asked for hot sauce, oh and that by the way my soup never made it. She was very apologetic and got our stuff right away. This is one of two of my very favorite Mexican restaurants in Southern California. Delicious home made style authentic Mexican food. Try the sopas, chicken with mole sauce, and the wonderful guacamole. A very large menu with many choices. Daily specials. Friendly waiters and waitresses. Clean place with a nice low key atmosphere and decor. There is also one in Silverlake/Echo Park area, but I''ve never tried that one. read more

My family eats here for take-out usually because we like eating in the comfort of our home. Overall, this place is pretty good and the food is tasty. But the only negative thing about it is that some of the items on there menu are overpriced. Also, when you ask for a little extra of something they will automatically charge you.
