Alex stopped by our house to fix a broken water valve for our front yard. He was reasonably priced and quick to respond. But it turned out, I was just having issues with the settings on my water timer and he showed me how to setup the app on my phone. In the end, he didn't need to replace the water valve. I tried to pay him for the visit, but he politely declined. I appreciate his generosity and for helping me out. I will definitely work with him in the future if I have any issues. read more

Although Alex has a good team of gardeners, I do not recommend that you use his business for anything else. He convinced us to spend a good sum of money on sod after claiming he fixed our sprinkler system. Unfortunately half the grass died because we discovered that he replaced our sprinkler heads with old hardware that had worn out springs. He also didn't switch heads that needed longer spray to ensure adequate irrigation. When I alerted Alex that our sod was not doing well he kept saying he would come fix things for 2 months and never did. His team them stopped showing up to do the gardening. read more

I called Alex and asked if he would drop by to give an estimate for hardscaping of my front lawn. He said he'd be at my house around 11:30am. It wasn't until noon when I decided to move on quickly as I usually take it as a bad sign when someone is over 30 minutes late to give a quote. I texted Alex saying not to come by and that I'm moving ahead with another service. He then texted "sorry, I'm here." When I looked outside my front door, I did not see him anywhere on my street. When I texted back saying "I don't see you, so please don't bother coming," He responds with a cryptic text saying "that's weird, I drove away." No apologies for being late, no explanation, no phone call. It was a very strange interaction to say the least. This man is plays weird games. If someone behaves this way right out the gate, it's best to move on quickly. I feel like I've dodged a bullet here. BEWARE! read more

Alex has a customer for life. I quoted 6 landscapers for a few projects including hedge trimming, removing some dead invasive vines from our yard, and installing some weed barrier in another section. He came by same day to take a look & quoted me a great price, and even said he'd come back the following day to do it all. He and his crew arrived the next morning & got to work. While working, he noticed some standing water and offered to take a look. He wound up uncovering a leaking pipe from an old irrigation system. I was panicked and he quickly assured me this was something he and his crew could take care of same day. They got to work demo'ing & getting to the issue, capping off the pipe, and will be back tomorrow to finish the clean up! He also gave me a great price for taking care of it. My husband and I are super impressed with these guys. Not only is Alex incredibly knowledgeable, but he's an overall nice guy who knows how to run a business taking care of his clients. Plus, look at these hedges! Oh, I almost forgot to mention they also didn't charge me additional for the extra leaf clean up and bit of weeding they did as well. Could not recommend these guys enough--they're great. read more

Alex came by to check my drip irrigation system as some of my trees had been dying. It turned out that the fixes were relatively minor. He gave me some advice about how to correct the problem. His honesty was really refreshing. He did not want to create business, but wanted to earn his business through hard work. I would definitely engage him for landscaping work in the future. read more

My irrigation had failed and the lawn all around the house died and was getting too weedy. I got estimates from quite a few landscapers and Barragan's was the one that worked out best in terms of timing and also not being the highest or lowest quote. Alex and his crew came when they said they would, worked hard, did a great job, and did the job the way I asked them to. They replaced old irrigation with new water-saving drip lines, and changed ugly dirt and weeds to beautiful rocks and drought-tolerant plants. No gotchas, no upselling, they just created the landscape I wanted at the agreed price. And Alex is great about listening to all my questions and concerns and remembering what we discussed. I'm very happy with the work Alex and his crew did and highly recommend them to anyone looking for great landscaping work at a fair price. read more

In contrast to previous gardeners who were either unreliable or too unavailable to put in good effort, Alex and his crew at Barragan Landscaping are a relieving breath of fresh air. The team is actually thorough, and they spend significant time and effort in the maintenance of our front and back yard. Whereas having experiences of other gardeners deflecting the work of repairing a sprinkler to have someone else do it, to an actual sprinkler repairman come then leave and ghost us, Alex on his first visit repaired it with ease and great understanding of his field of work. These guys don't just "mow and blow" and leave in an unfinished haste, but they will also prune overgrowth and make sure every hard to get corner is covered! Lastly, Alex is a total gentleman who loves his work and is very friendly. We feel blessed to have found him and his team and strongly recommend them for your gardening and landscaping needs! read more

Good old fashioned service. I called Barragan Landscaping and Alex picked up. I told him that I was looking to get a quote for a landscaping project. He said he would stop by to give me an estimate. Not only did he show up, but showed up on time. I agreed to the estimate and sealed the deal. Alex and his team worked steadily and carefully. Alex gave good suggestions to make my project even better, AND The job was completed a day ahead of schedule . When we started with our landscape we only had a vague idea of what we wanted. When we talked to Alex at Barragan Landscaping he listened and provided recommendations and even alternatives to some of the ideas we'd started with. Alex took the time to understand our needs to define space, enhance circulation, and create a seating area.  Once we discussed the scope of work, Alex provided a detailed estimate and was available to start immediately. Our landscape installation, that included paving, irrigation, lighting, sod, river rocks,  shrubs, and tree planting, lasted about week. Alex and his crew were responsive to our questions and concerns from start to finish. Workers were prompt, courteous and professional. We are simply overjoyed with the immediate result and look forward to many years of a growing and colorful outdoor space our family can enjoy anytime of year. We are so happy too that Barragan Landscaping is local and family owned. read more

I want to thank Owner Alex and his Crew for fixing a major water leak on my Property. I had Yelped several local Plumbers to come out as water was leaking above ground and into the street. Half didn't call back.. And worst yet, one came over, dug a hole and discovered it was PVC said he could do no more.. What a pisser, he charged me $75 to make a hole! Plumbers don't work on PVC, who knew?? Fate lead me to Alex at Barrigan Landscaping who was local, Honest, and quick to dig in and fix! Truly grateful and priced fairly! I plan on using Alex's company for more landscaping needs at my home. Great Job Alex! read more

Alex emailed within an hour of requesting sprinkler repair (pvc pipe) services and we scheduled an appointment. Alex was on time and very professional, explaining the work that needed to be done and providing an estimate before proceeding. He worked quickly and efficiently and demonstrated that the sprinkler system was repaired and working again. Of note is that other companies responded but told me my job was "too small". Not Alex! I would highly recommend Barragan Landscaping and would definitely use them again. Peter G./Burbank read more

We had construction on our property and our backyard took a beating. So our plan was to try get it back into shape without breaking the bank. I came across Barragan Landscaping and had a good feeling about them. I called Alex and he was able to meet me the same day to survey the yard for an estimate. We discussed our layout and he had us some good ideas and options to think about. He was professional, yet easy going and friendly. He emailed an estimate that I felt was fair and within a few days his crew started. I can't say how lucky we were to work with Alex and crew. They are pleasant, reliable, know their landscaping and go the extra mile to make things right. You can tell Alex enjoys his work and takes pride in his finished product. That is recipe for a great experience. Thank you Alex & crew! We will definitely be in touch and seeing you in the future. read more

Don't ever, ever hire this guy. Alex was working on another house on our street. We wanted a small retaining wall put in our backyard so we asked him for a quote. We agreed to a price and he showed us a phamplet of what our choices were. Well he couldn't get those or the next ones we picked out or the ones after that. A month later he finally had some blocks delivered. Just like someone else said he would tell us he would be over to start work and he wouldn't show up. When he finally finished the wall he asked if we wanted dirt, we said yes. He then asked for more money and said he would be back. He never showed up. He left 18 20lb blocks that weren't used in the yard and three pallets in the driveway. We ended up calling a junk dealer to haul them away. Then we had to buy dirt, move it and shovel it in ourselves. I texted him and told him he needed to give us a refund. He says, I will come by this weekend. Which of course I knew he wouldn't do. And when it was all done half the sprinklers he installed didn't work. He tells you nothing but lies. Constantly telling you he will be there to work and doesn't show up. He's a grown man acting like a child. Hire him and you will be sorry for it. read more

So I contacted Alex. He seemed very nice and came out to my property fairly quick. I told him everything I wanted done in regards to weekly maintenance and two one time projects. He seemed like he was willing to work with the budget I had in mind. He told me him and his guys take care of everything such as pruning the flowers. He came twice...first time didn't prune my plants, second time didn't prune the plants. Yard didn't even look clean. In terms of the one time projects - he gave me one quote and I accepted. Then he came the following week and raised it by $1000. So I told him that he keeps raising the prices and I don't want the project then. He left and didn't even show up to continue maintaining the lawn. Extremely unprofessional. read more

I had a disaster in my back and front yard. I called other landscapers and they were charging an arm and a leg. All of them wanted to charge separate for the yard and the trimming. More amazing they did this during a heat wave with no extra charge. read more

My backyard needs some work, so I called and spoke to Alex who made an appointment to come for an estimate. He was over an hour late. We did talk at length about my ideas for the yard. He had some great ideas and assured me he could do the job for a reasonable price. He offered to work up a couple of designs with estimates and could have them to me by Wednesday (It was Monday). A week later I still did not have them. I messaged Alex and asked how it was going. No response. Two days later I called him and left a message asking if he was still interested in the job. Again, no response at all. So disappointing and frustrating. read more

I'm so grateful I found Barragan Landscaping! I was looking to transform my front yard from grass and a rusty chain link fence to a welcoming native plant garden, one that would qualify for the LADWP turf replacement rebate. We had a design already, but we needed to make some adjustments to it. Alex was wonderful to talk to and had the aesthetic sense and creativity to help us bring our ideas to life. After our first meeting, I knew that, if the estimate was decent, I was going with him! And it was! I had spent the last couple of years researching native plants, so I was particular about their needs as opposed to non-native plants. Alex was flexible and happy to go along with my requests. By the time we were done, we had also replaced the driveway and transformed our side yard. The front yard is every bit the magical landscape I'd hoped for, and the side yard is better than I'd ever imagined. Alex and his lovely crew consistently went above and beyond. They are a family business, and they made me feel like they were taking care of me as though I were part of the family too. And everything at a fair price. read more

Came out the same day that I had issues with my sprinklers and did a great job! Definitely recommend their services

So thrilled with Alex Barragan and the service he and his company provided. Our sprinkler valves in the back yard were leaking profusely into the street. Spoke with Alex just after noon and he was at our house 20 minutes later to assess the situation. He did a little digging and said he and his crew would return around 4. He called me at around 330 to say they would be here soon. His guys came and dug up the problem area, capped off the problem pipes, gave me a new and better hose bib. They replaced the dirt/mud and made the area as presentable as possible. So glad I found Alex and his guys. Very easy and pleasant people who knew just what to do. Prompt and reliable, we will surely use them again. Thanks to Alex, Jose and Jose and the other guy. read more

Quote was competitive. We decided to go with Alex and his crew to clear our front yard of weeds, gravel, etc...because they were able to come next day to do the work. It was a messy job but they left the job site spotless even bringing our trash can up from the curb. Would highly recommend these guys! read more
